Nathan Carroll

In the Sun today it is reported-

St Kilda is believed to have shown interest in Melbourne bad boy Nathan Carroll.

God plz let this be true.

If we get a pack of chips or a pick in the 90s for him ill call this the most successful trading period in our clubs history

I can see a lot of Melbourne fans doing cartwheels over the prospect of this trade and it would be in our interests to dispose of the problem. But don't misunderstand the fact that, if he kept his off field issues under control (and most of these in the past have been off season issues), Carroll would be a handy player for the Saints especially in view of the doubt about Matt Guire's future and the fact that Max Hudghton will probably be in his last year. Carroll played a couple of blinders late in the season at Sandringham and his game against Frankston as a pinch hittter in the ruck earned him 3 Liston votes. St. Kilda will probably get him for next to nothing and he might be a bonus to a club in their stage of the cycle.

St Kilda are becoming the new Sydney Swans. Picking up recycled players for the fun of it seems. King, Schnieder, Charlie Gardiner, Mick Gardiner.

Please take this bogan off us. Our Sixth round draft pick and Carroll for 123 sounds fair, as long as St Kilda pay most of his salary.

very true. I don't know what would [censored] me off more,

Carroll staying...Or us trading him and him becoming like the player he was

a couple of years back.

Relax. Carroll is a fringe footballer at best with flaky decision making and an unnecessary short wick for the brawl. For the so called "blinders" he played at Sandy he also played some absolute shockers and lowered his colours to supposedly lesser opponents.

BTW, his off field issues are not confined to off season issues at all.

Sooner gone the better and more fool St Kilda. Gee with Cousins, Gardiner and Carroll, it will be party time again at the StK Social Club!

FWIW, I would not read to much into the Hun's information until the deal is done:

"St Kilda is believed to have shown interest in Melbourne bad boy Nathan Carroll."

That could mean anything.

HAHAHA, hey with a party involving nuts like that i'd go!!!

would certaintly be fun...and interesting

I'd love to see him traded to StK .... but if it happens (unlikely IMO), there's little doubt we'd end up paying out a fair chunk of the final year of his contract.

I'd pay the full amount! B) He could not be on that much.

Agree ... quick as a flash!!

Reported somehwhere that he will earn a guaranteed $300k next year. Considering that Bell is on $250K, wouldn't be far off the mark.

I'd say that we will definitely have to pay a large chunk of his salary.

That's not that high a salary really, for a 6th(?) year player.

Personally, I'd accept any trade that got this bloke away from our club, even if it meant paying a large chunk of his salary.

I'd drive him to Linton Street, save for the stench he'd leave.

Would the stench be from the empty travellers he left in the back seat?

Any pick and if he was earning 250K, I'll be willing to pay 200K of it too.

Considering that Bell is on $250K

What the farrrrk!!!

is that meant to be a joke????

cos if it is thats one hell of a joke,

but seriously i fell off my chair, im not sure whether in disbelief or laughter

Who decides MFC's wages down their?

p.s HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Brace Yourself. Greg Denham on SEN said $270,000 earlier this morning.

I'd be happy if St.Kilda or anyone else for that matter picked up Carroll. Let him hook up with Gardiner and even Cousins. St.kilda can then reminisce about the Ol' days.

Lets avoid the hyperbole about Carroll's salary.

Some weeks ago MFC were looking for ways to paying out his contract and removing him from the list.

Whether his salary is $250k to $300k ...its not astronomical in AFL terms.

His current contract was secured at the end of 2006 when we did not have other defensive options and Carroll had put in his best season. Its easy in hindsight to make harsh judgements.

I would be happy if MFC did pay a fair slab of Carroll's final salary to get him off the list.

I am not too perturbed about Carroll sparkling at another Club to our detriment because I dont think Carroll is capable of doing that and if he stayed at MFC, it would seem he has lost the confidence of the football department and burnt all his bridges and would be wallowing in the VFL.

Translating St. Kilda's "interest" into an actual trade for Carroll would be an amazing turn of events. I just can't see it happening though, regardless of what happens with his salary.

but is bell actually on $250K?

It's not ridiculous when you compare to other players... even some early recruits are on a fair bit these days. And I suspect it's based on his 2007, which warranted a pay increase. As in he was signed at the end of 2007, where his future looked bright and bankable (someone can confirm this). If he was signed after 2006 on that much, then yes, it seems a bit out of whack.

Agree.

AN ABSOLUTE JOKE IF TRUE

AN ABSOLUTE JOKE IF TRUE... AN ABSOLUTE JOKE IF TRUE... AN ABSOLUTE JOKE IF TRUE... AN ABSOLUTE JOKE IF TRUE...

Broken record

Maybe Carroll and pick 67 for pick 63? Not much but at least we'd be rid of him and we've improved our position in the draft.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
