Jeff White

This has probably been written elsewhere but does anyone know if Melbourne can and or will put Jeff White and Adem Yze on the trade table? While Yze's undoubtedly finished, even if we gave Jeff away for pick 96 or something a la the Steven King trade of last year isn't that something? It looks after White and we're making a gain (albeit limited).

Both will be delisted, as announced (tho' actual delisting is not til Nov 14 with List Lodgement). So they will go into the PSD. UNLESS more than 1 club is interested, and approaches MFC to do a trade so that he doesn't go to the PSD. (Depending on the club, they may have an eye on another player in PSD, so that would encourage a trade for White, or Yze for that matter.)

The PSD is looking more and more interesting by the day - gotta wait til Dec 16 tho'.

Whatever happens, this won't have any bearing on the MFC. By trading Steven King, Geelong was able to get rid of a contracted player that they wanted off the books, without delisting him. The fact that they got a pick they were never going to use was inconsequential, as they wanted the cap relief. We're in a situation where even if half the ruckmen in the comp suddenly came down with rabies and Jeff White was thrust into high demand, we're not going to gain a pick we'll actually use. If they were contracted, you'd take whatever pick you could get for them.

If it's just a paper gain - ie. a pick that we're never going to realise (use) - then it's not really 'something' for us, no.

However, I'm not opposed to us looking after our players a la King.

Cast your mind back a few years and we did a deal with Port for negligible benefit that gave Walsh a gig in his home state.

The prospect of trading White for what's essentially nothing has been mentioned by others previously (including me).

It seems unlikely this will happen though, as there seems to be little interest in White (and nothing for Yze).

White hopeful career can continue

Now am I the only one who's starting to think this sounds a bit sad?

"The 31-year-old says that while no AFL clubs have spoken to him about playing next year, he still had a small hope that he would be picked up in the national or pre-season draft"

Now I love the guy for what he did for a club for such a long period, but, well, I'm not too sure what to say

Hasnt Jeff White been picked up by an SANFl side. Possibly Glenelg?????

I cant confirm this, a mate was telling me that he read an article, but I never got a chance to ask where.

Considering he wants to base himself on the Gold Coast after AFL, that sounds odd.

I think Peter Street is being courted by some SANFL teams - possible your friend got them mixed up?

Does seem a bit odd, but i've heard the same rumour. Only thing that the SANFL would seem to offer is the largest salary cap outside of the AFL, but even then, the whole thing per club would be less then what he was on this year

Yes, and he's currently based at the Gold Coast at present, maintaining his strength and fitness. Which just adds to it sounding odd. He should give Vossy a call. I wish him all the best.

White is currently considering signing on with the Redland FC (Bomers affiliate) in QLD.

Aparently his brother plays for them as well..

Hopefully Vossy can pick him up. If only the GC team came in next year.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
