Please. People already have a go at Valenti for being short and stocky yet Arthur's on your radar. Maybe a rookie list if we aren't picky.

Look I think Sam Mitchell shows that if you've got elite endurance, a football brain and quick hands there's a place in today's game, Valenti just doesn't excel in these areas and that magnifies his limitations - where as someone like Mitchell who does excel is captain of one of the GF teams!

Problem with Vanderlay is that he's gone prematurely bald which makes him look a lot slower than he really is - a bit like Ablett. He is a touch taller than Valenti according to the AFL Prospectus (if you can trust that source).

Rockcliff doesn't get much of mention when it comes to the draft. He seems to always be kicking goals I don't think that can be ignored especially for a side like us.

I quite like Vandelay, but he's probably one of a number of players that could go in the 20-35 range. I personally don't see him pushing up any higher than mid second round, but there's a chance that West Coast (or maybe even us) would look at him with a priority pick. He's got a lot of upside and the reward could be massive, but I do worry about his intensity at times. I think a lot of what happens on draft day will come down to the interview.

I agree that the uncertainty with him is his injury issues. That's only reason I can see that he's not going to the Draft camp, but he'll definitely be at the Qld State screenings and I expect we'll have someone up there looking closely and as you say - the interview is important. I liken him to Tom Swift - dominated at U16 level but since then he's been hampered by injury and has slipped off people's radar. Just because his injury is listed as "groin" doesn't mean he's got OP, there are other groin injuries than OP that players can make a full recovery from. I think his alleged lack of pace is deceptive and wouldn't be surprised to see a sub 3 secs for the 20m at the screening. There's a risk drafting injured players and for every Selwood there's a Muston but the possible upside of a Selwood is huge. We've got the priority pick at the end of round 1 and possibly can afford to take a risk if we bank two certainties at 1 and 17.

1. Melbourne - Nicholas Naitanui - an absolute lock, barring a brain fade from the MFC recruiters.

An absolute crock! ;)

J.Watts No.1 and you know it.

Mitchell debuted in 02, has played 130+ games and will be 26 soon; he has learnt his craft. Valenti is 21, and has played 9 games. Given the chance, he can learn his craft as well.

we need pace and a ruckman

it doesn't look like we're going to get warnock, so we have to get Vickery. I'm thinking that we need to do some serious trading with Adelaide or Port in an attempt to get their first round pick, because we also need to take Watts
