Carroll did ok today - certainly no worse than anyone else!

The hairstyle is one thing - but the mo is gone too, I don't know if I can get used to this!

I thought he was fairly average today, but who wasn't?

Backmen are unlucky in that any errors they make are magnified x100 because the consequences can be so much greater.

I agree.

I saw lots of errors today - lost count of how many times we kicked straight to Richmond, so I don't think we can really point the finger at any one player to lay blame. You are right though - if a defender makes an error, or has a bad day, and a goal is kicked we think he's horrible. But if a forward kicks a point instead of a goal he generally doesn't get so much abuse.

I think people should just lay off Chopper, he did ok today. He made a few good saves and put a bit of effort into the game. He certainly wasn't the worst defender out there today, he just makes himself more visible!

Hardly, Carroll got smashed in the air by a resting mid-fielder with 10kgs less body weight - Brett Deledio.

Time to go Chop chop

Brett Deledio has freakish marking ability. Nothing Chop could of done about 2-3 of those marks yesterday.

I watched Carroll closely yesterday and noticed that he either has very poor judgment as to where the ball will end up after a kick to his opponent or he doesn't trust his own judgment and reacts solely to the movements of his opponent and so he gets out positioned cos he's not in the right place or he's still on his way there cos not using his own judgment and relying on his opponents judgment.

when he attacks the ball kicked to a pack his courage allows him to do the gutsy thing and spoil & split the pack but the pack has already let him know where the ball will be and therefore where to run to, the pack has in effect done the judgment thing for him

He should trust himself more or work on his judgment skills cos if he solved that issue he would be much more of a player

Edit: I'm not bagging him & I would like to see him succeed as he has a hell of allot of heart

On this forum I know for a fact Hoopla likes Chopper.

He also used to like Al Nicholson.

Enough said there!

I think Chopper should get the axe and play somewhere up country where his lack of skills can be hidden by his fearsome looks.

He looks a bit YMCA Blue Oyster Bar ish at AFL level so I'm sure he can find a league of his own somewhere.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
