We get to choose clash jumper

Featured Replies

IMO "A" is complete disaster, it will age in about 2 years and we'll look back thinking jeez what the hell was that. That's the main problem with the all the clash guernseys we've had they've dated quickly and we've never keep one long enough to get used to it.

The one with the MFC is head and shoulder's above the other because it's got history as Bingo has stated and it's classical, it won't age.

I can't believe the vote is so close. I'll be shattered if they choose the constipated demon.

To be honest I wouldn't mind betting opposition supporters are voting so we look like idiots.

Ruined my day seeing these 2 designs, looks like as long as the AFL are handing out money we will bend over for them.

I'm going option 1 though, bring back the demon. Option 2 looks too much like a rip off Carlton guernsey. Don't worry if you think it's outdated, it'll be gone in 2 years when the AFL decides Melbourne must introduce all the colours of the rainbow into their clash guernsey.

This is a great way to kill off our brand even more, no wonder we are insignificant to the rest of the league.

Surely the red jumper we had a few years back was enough evidence that it solved any clash problems.

I don't like either of them but I voted for "A" although I'd like to see the Demon with sharp fangs and blood dripping from them.

Just like the mighty Bolton Wanderers! The whites!

ha ha let's go back to it!!!!!

joking!

The words Mighty & Bolton should never be used in the same sentence.

Back on topic, I've made a vote and its A. Just for the fact that it brings back our identity as the Demons.

None of the following club's clash/away/alternative strips contain white:

Adelaide - uses red as the predominant colour

Essendon - more red than usual

Port Adelaide - I cheat here because they use silver instead

Richmond - more yellow than usual

West Coast - lighter blue than the home strip

Each of these clubs' regular jumper is predominantly a dark colour (dark blue or black), like Melbourne, which suggests to me that they would clash with similar teams. 2 weeks ago Adelaide played Essendon and wore their clash strip, and there was no clash. So one would assume that a predominantly red jumper for us wouldn't clash either. I don't know why we were told to have white in our jumper. Maybe this isn't the AFL, but it's the club that wants the white.

Which one of those clubs is going cap in hand to the AFL this year asking for more money?

Grow up and get over it people. The Afl is not at all serious about this rule, otherwise it would be handing out massive fines any time one of those clubs wore their "illegal" clash strips, and every time Collingscum ignored the rule completely. The leverage the AFL gains and uses against the poorer clubs every time they're in a crisis is a form of punishment. We only have to listen till we get our house in order, then we can ignore them like everyone else. Take your medicine then that awful white will turn blood red, trust me.

Yeh, look what happened to Nth Melbourne when their home game was against the filth but the AFL made Nth wear their clash jumper because their jumper clashed with the filths clash jumper, which I would define as the doowgnilloC jumper.

furious d, I trust ya mate, I would just like to be standing a bit away from you when all that white turns to blood red.

Red is a light colour compared to our blue dominated jumper. And red clashes less with our supposed clash opposition than white does.

This whole thing is a farce.

The members were upset about not being consulted about the silver disgrace last year, and now the same thing is happening again. People submitted designs and I guarentee 90% were based in red, not in white.

The AFL says it wants light vs dark, not black vs white.

Are we gutless or do we stand for something? The Demon is back, so should the red and blue be.

Unfortunately red doesn't meet the AFL's definition of 'light' when it comes Melbourne. Pretty sure we nominated a reverse jumper at the start of the year but it was knocked back by the AFL, there was a report in the age I think.

I really think if we could have 2 colours, red & blue we would. Fingers crossed Jimmy gets the club up and going financially that we won't need a hand out and then we can throw some weight around regarding this issue.

a slight reworking.. at least looks a bit more menacing ??

I mean...what kid wouldnt love running around with this??

Think I'll have nightmares.....

Ah what's the difference the whole season has been a nightmare anyway... ;)

Nice one BB.

I completely agree. We should have at least tried.

How about making the insignia red and blue coloured instead of all blue?

If it was red and blue, would have made it different to Carlton and would have got my vote.

This is from caddypgt over at Demonology.

Im going to have a crack at something with version A.

Went back to basics with this. What does everyone think?

Correct. It can vary slightly, but we can afford to win by up to 15 points.

good job mate

like how you put the mfc logo, but cant put it there as thats where our sponsor will go.

I dont know i am actually warming towards the new demon logo, its not as horrific as i thought.

Put the current version A suggestion next to it, so there's a comparison.

I completely agree. We should have at least tried.

The overuse of white in both of the suggested versions makes a mockery of our true colours of red and blue. Our Navy Blue is the colour which causes the AFL the most problems, particularly when we play Essendon and Freo.

Why don't we try to design a jumper using a much lighter shade of blue. Royal blue is not sufficiently a light colour and was not a good look in the 1980's anyway. I was thinking about using the light blue colour used in the Argentine soccor jumper (which North Melbourne are going to use next year) to replace the navy blue. Surely that would be light enough to satisfy the AFL and solve any clash problems.

What do others think of using a light blue in place of the navy blue? At least our colours would remain red and blue and not be seen to be white with a dash of red and blue as suggested in both the alternative clash jumpers which are being voted on at the moment.

both '' away''( why do we need one anyway?) jumpers submitted by MFC look sh1thouse and as a consequence of that i wont be voting.

I donty mind themn, but the white is crap..

A is better for mine, as I love the return of the demon, but it just looks too much like the bulldogs for me, as soon as I saw it, I thought bulldogs..

But, both are an improvement..

The bombers get waay with red because we are considered to clash with more teams than they do, we clash with Saints, Bombers, Dogs, blues, Dockers etc..

I do not believe the counter is accurate, I voted more than once and did so in a row and each time the % was way different.

If we say that there are 16 clash jumpers (Two for Brisbane but none for Collingwood), that is 8 out of 16 that are not white based.

The statement that the AFL mandates that club jumpers must be white (or grey) based is a myth. It simply is not true. We CAN have red as the main colour, we just have to have the balls to demand it.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
