I would take a 6 goal or less loss as a victory.

Seriously, we can't win.

So we simply put the cue in the rack do we? Like your confidence <_< ....not.

What she said.

Ditto. I hope the boys "stick it right up you"

Can't and Won't are two different things. The question wasn't "will we win"

Correct.

Of course we can win, if we score more than them we win, pretty simple really

45hotgod, I agree with this and its an obvious conclusion to come to, hence the.... , I'm just commenting that its not that simple against a Geelong outfit. ;)

So against Geelong, you can score more than they score, and still lose? Tough comp.

So there was no need for me to respond to this....but technically speaking you can have more 'scoring shots' and still lose. :)

After 118 votes, its 37:63 in favour of the [censored] Cats. Dees are at $13 to win.

I've already donated to Debt Demolition. And what I'll do is put $50 on the Dees to win Head to Head at $13. The winnings will go to Debt Demolition if they win. If they don't win, I'll put another $50 in anway!

A little incentive for the Boys to win - not that they'll need it or will be thinking about it when they take the field.

Go Dees!

If you ask a simpe question, you'll get a simple answer

I never said the process of beating Geelong will be simple, and for this Melbourne team tomorrow night probably nigh-on impossible, but the maths in whether we can beat Geelong is as simple as anything.

And i never said, if we have more scoring shots, i said if we score more.

The problem is that this is a simple conversation that's being overly complicated.

We CAN win, of course we can.

We probably WON'T win, but that shouldn't really be spoken about in this thread because that doesn't answer the question

You can talk we had a 50:85 split. 135 votes, 2 pages of comment. The boys were smashed by Geelong, simple. Don't know how you can refer to a Melbourne supporter and long time member as a tool, when he's supporting his team.

Obviously you're not supportive of your team through hard times. You muppet.

HT, you're probably better off ignoring idiotic comments like that, as they clearly carry no weight.

But may I suggest next time if you do a poll like this, make the question "will Melbourne beat..."

Much of this thread has revolved around the difference between can and will

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
