Nate Jones dropped!!...

Featured Replies

I forecast it could happen 2 weeks ago, and now it has..

What is everyones opinion on it?

I think its deserved, no real cause for alarm, just needs to work into a bit of form..

Cant beleive Bell is still there, Petterd for Bell would be nice.. but, I trust its for a reason..!

A run with sandy will do Nate the world of good, its no disgrace these days, he really is struggling with the close attention!

This is yet another reason why I have so much faith in Dean Bailey. His ability to make tough decisions is sure to set us on the right path.

Cameron Bruce is now the only player in the team to have played every game this year. The fact that Jones has been dropped gives me faith that Bruce won't be given games just because of his name. I firmly believe that Bruce will also be dropped in coming weeks - and that will be good for the team.

By the way, Jones got his highest ever possession count last week and was still dropped. It just goes to show that possessions mean nothing in the modern game.

Very well said mate, could not agree with you more!!

DB really instilles me with great hope!

other players out of form who deserve the chop...

Bartram and Bell....

Jonesy has been poor lately..prob deserves to be dropped.

Give him a run with Sandy. Free Him up for a game or 2. It would be bloody hard work playing in the middle each week. Jonesy is a Future Captain i believe

Im lovin DB more and more. Hasn't made a wrong decision yet.

:o

Last thing we need to do is crucify someone who is not afraid to get his hands dirty and get the hard ball. Shane Valenti is going to have to shoulder a big burden in this area this week. ( Big task)

Whilst Nathan needs to improve his disposals he at least gets the ball.

exactly, McLean and Moloney are gone already, this is going to be an absolute joke in the middle

many players were worse last week and are having worse seasons than Jonesy

anyway i'll back DB

it does seem a bit stiff on jones, but thats dean baily for you, i reckon he is taking the right approach.

I also haven't been impressed with BeLL either, but perhaps this gives him a shot in the midfield, which i wouldn't mine seeing.

He gets the ball a lot. I see his problem not in the quality of his disposal but the number of times he gets caught in a tackle.

Often the ruckman tap it onto his chest but he is not quick enough with his hands.

His slow hands is his biggest fault

I think his reading of the play is woeful.

Really?

That wouldn't be a criticism I would make. In what way?

Although i'll back the decision of DB, our midfield will definatly struggle this week; Bruce and Green have to step up this game and prove that they are A grade players, we also need a big game from Wheaters.

It's not what I'd do but they probably explains why I work in finance and not an AFL coach....

Anyway, give the kid a bit of a break, he's been leading the midfield since McLean got injured, and it's a good move considering the bombers are pretty weak for inside mids. This is a danger game for us, bails is doing the right thing.

we are desperate for a loss, but what an experiance it would be for the young guys if they could get a win!

He's struggling, and he needs a chance to work on his disposal minus the pressure of AFL.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being dropped in your second year of football. He is 19 and has taken on a massive workload and it's not helping him IMO.

A break will be good for him.

In the long term Jones and Valenti may not be able to play in the same team.

Right now their skills are similar.

Good opportunity to see how Valenti is developing.

I don't think it's primarily form related myself (not that it wouldn't have played some factor), but more wear and tear.

This gives him an opportunity to address both, and recently blooded team-mates a chance to step up.

He just looks rushed to me, he is a bloody good player though.

He will have more time to make decisions in the VFL, might help him.

Always finds himself in no-mans land playing, catch up. Really how many clearances has he been getting?

Spot on

i have a feeling he wants to have a look at valenti as the number one mid, in the same way he wanted to get a look at jamar as the number one ruck.

that and jones has been carrying the midfield since the pre season. he probably needs a rest.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
