Russell Robertson Injury

our forward line is farrrkkkeedd.

Miller presents well at CHF and Wonaeamirri and Davey are good small forwards...

However we have noone to kick the goals...

PJ is probably our best option...Ben Holland is 31 and on his last legs, Yze the same.

We don't have anyone even at sandy who can fill the void???

Newton? Maybe try to develop Dunn into a full forward?

Career over. He wont recover from this, its a very serious injury.

Didnt we sign him for 3 years?

2 year deal. I think.

2 year deal, I wont say career over but I have seen someone lose the ability to jump or talke off hard from that foot after the same injury, alas he would not have the same surgeon nor help in recovery Robbo will.

I doubt he will play again. Its a 12 month injury, and he will lose a lot of his spring. Plus, he is 30 years old.

Looks like he will just fall short of 400 career goals.

Newton to come in, or could possibly mean another rookie elevation: zomer?

Saden to see robbo's departure, I don't think he'll be making a return :(

He was one of my fav's

Would love to see Trent Zomer elevated.

I liked what I saw from him in the pre-season. Looks to have a nice set of hands.

I suppose the only positive is that it frees up Valenti to play out the rest of the season...

surely Zomer needs to earn promotion from the Sandy 2's before he gets a run for Melbourne..?

i guess this means Valenti will be able to keep his spot on the list...

I really hope this isn't the end for Robbo, we've already had our greatest servent of the MFC retire because of injury, and whatever people think of Robbo is irrelivant because he loves the club and has given us plenty of excitement over the years.

Good luck with your recovery Russell.

Nobody speak about this like it is career ending, please.

It's bad enough we had to farewell Neita in a car, this better not happen with Robbo too!

This season is just a massive pile of crap :(

Horrible hospital pass by Green. Will have to live with the fact he might have ended his mate's career.

Valenti will keep his spot and Grimes can come up onto the main list.

I cant see Zomer being elevated until he earns it. If he is finding his feet in Sandy 2nd he aint ready for AFL and he is unlikely to unseat Saunter at Sandy.

It's the right leg that he's injured so the take-off leg is intact. For some reason right-handed individuals jump off their left.

Edit: It is now reported that it IS the left achilles which is injured. Game. set and match you'd have to think with Robbo's unique physiology.

Yes, I agree 'Yze_Magic'. If it is ruptured it will be very difficult for robbo, (who relies on his 'spring & sprint off the mark to win the footy) to recover & it may well be allover..

I hope not as this would be a sad day for his exit from the game.

Not good, all the best Robbo. Time to play Dunn as a key forward, he is not a midfielder and was drafted as a forward. It is time to see if this first round pick can play.

Last game for the MFC I rekon. It's not as out-there as you think it is.

PJ is probably our best option

That is very sad. :(

Robbo will be back. Yes, it's serious but the man bleeds for this football club and I believe he still has plenty to offer. Best of luck in your recovery Robbo!!

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
