Not too bad Joeboy: You were kind with some, but more-or-less right on.

Bell didn't have a great day, but he battled manfully I thought. Farmer's a pretty good player and at least one of his goals wasn't Daniel's fault. I don't know that there's much you could say in a positive way about his game, but then if you can find positives about Jamar, Rivers, and Jones you could find something to say about Belly. Don't get me wrong. Rivers' game was probably the best 4 possession game I've ever seen. Jamar had nothing in the stats column but somehow exerted himself. And Jones was just tagged out by a more mature player. I have nothing against any of them based on yesterday alone... I just reckon Bely cops it unnecessarily sometimes.

I reckon, given the form of Garland and Warnock, Bell will probably be the one to make way fro Wrecker. And that's fair enough. There were only a couple of bad games from the demons yesterday.

Bartram - has definitely regressed

Bate - a welcome addition

Bell - wont escape Sandy

Bruce - predictably butchered footy

Carroll - no real influence

Davey - excitement machine returns

Frawley - another promising effort

Garland - finally showed something

Green - overlooked as leader?

Jamar - amazingly quelled Sandilands

Jones - career worst game

McDonald - battled hard again

McLean - years best game

Miller - career best game

Moloney - took Baileys advice

Morton - dominant display imminent

Rivers - dominated without possessions

Robertson - It takes 22

Warnock - kid has arrrived

Wheatley - footskills were divine

White - contested ruck well

Wonaeamirri - words cant describe

I'm so pleased for Jamar, his ruck work against the giant was exceptional. He jumped early and ha very effective. His best game for the club. Miller was our best just worked hard all day. As our skills improve this guy will start to have more influence on games, will never be a star but will present all day and if we can hit targets he wil take 10-15 marks per match. Miller and Bate worked great as lead up targets.

Bartram had one to forget, Bell I thought was OK.

Its amazing when our midfield finally got on top in the second half none of our key defenders got much of the ball, Carroll, Rivers, Frawley didn't have a possession in the last half but still did there jobs.

3 words that summed up our players in the last half- They backed themselves

Yze Magic - becoming increasingly boring

Yeah, he is so so BORING and IGNORANT ( As well as being so bloody STUBBORN). Bruce played a sensational game but YM shuts his eyes and makes his usual innane comments. I wonder if Cameron, at some stage, pinched his girl friend? I do wish he would grow up and be HONEST occasionally.

Tell me one time where I have been dishonest?

If bruce plays well, I will acknowledge it.

I wonder how many people here rate Andrew Carazzo from Carlton? Gets a shitload of the pill, but does nothing with it. Same as Bruce.

It's like I saw a completely different player with the name Colin Garland. :o:unsure:

I wish I could see what the above posters saw but I thought he was woeful, and has showed us next to nothing over the last few weeks. Straight out for Wheels.

i'm gonna make y_m on this one. maybe he was a tad harsh, but i honestly thought that bruces disposal let him down. 30 something touches, had lots of it and ran hard to get it but wasnt damaging, and imo there were enough times in the 1st half when he turned it over when he shouldnt have that his game balanced out. 31 touches definitely not in my best on field though.

I have watched the replay, and apart from two loose handballs early in the game his disposal was as good as any other player. He put himself in and under and dealt out many slick EFFICIENT handballs particularly when the game was up for grabs. Only Brock McLean laid more tackles (7) than Bruce(6). By failing to acknowledge these facts you are being DISHONEST or plain PIG HEADED. I really hope it is the latter.

MJ is untouchable. Was going to go with Bird, but it would be unfair to compare flash to a pale white dude with a pube moe! (for the record, i am a MASSIVE bird fan, no harm in the pube mo comment).

Flash is something else! Maybe not MJ, but Damn, he is close enough!

Fast and playing above their weight division.

actually i will agree about his handballing in the 2nd half, perhaps those two in the first half just have really stuck in my mind.

bobby, what was your opinion of his kicking throughout the whole match, and relative to each half?

Deanox, I'll answer that one too. I kept a close eye on Cam throughout the game, as I dont believe that his disposal is as bad as its being made out to be. Yesterday (apart from those early errant handballs), his disposal was first rate. He did miss a gettable shot on goal after he caught Pavlich holding the ball, but his kicking during play was spot on.

Deanox,

I must say that dees rule 4eva has answered your question about Bruce's kicking. As he said, his shot at goal was poor but I thought he found his target with the great majority of his kicks. Basically, I too took special note of his much criticized disposals and I fully concur with demons rule 4eva. Maybe the skills coach is doing the job on Cam.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
