  2. Yea Petty was that vital link against the cats. It was disappointing that he fell back into that rut. Mind you he wasn't alone. All our fwds were off. Even Kozzie seemed to panic a fair bit. Mind you our midfield wasn't delivering the ball to them all on a platter like Carlton's were at times. Even with so many players down we almost won so that's the big positive . That we don't rely on sole players. But can we address why we have come out sound asleep for a few games now? Fix our starts and we are a tough nut to crack.
  3. McAdam is the enigma. He played a full game last night. Didn't do much but then again few players did. Coaches would be closely looking at his positioning, ground coverage etc. For those who subscribe to the belief that the VFL is no longer a useful training ground for key players* this wouldn't be a bad game to try him out. Rest Chandler.. play McAdam and sub in Woewodin at half time if McAdam can't get the ball. * Frankly I have difficulty working out what role the VFL plays these days. Like us Carlton's VFL team is currently a cellar dweller so the old adage of being strong at various levels no longer applies.
  4. I really think there were a lot of very soft frees paid to the blues in the first quarter. Carlton had all the momentum and played well but when your team is pinged 11 to 3 against like us in the 20 odd mins than that momentum was difficult to break. The frees certainly contributed. I know we started poorly but maybe we did win if May did actually touch that kick.
  5. And it seems fairly clear that dob is related to the size of the crowd of the team receiving the free.
  6. Definitely not. Anb or Bowey Wires are crossed somewhere.
  7. Yesterday
  8. His tackling and intensity was a lot better then I've seen this year. I'm hoping it's all starting to click. I would have like him to have stuck a few grabs but his intent was certainly there. I haven't written him off as some have on here, he's obviously a kid that needs time and more physical progression with his body. He's played 26 games in the VFL. Talk to someone like Paul Roos and he'll tell you that the right development for a young key position player is certainly to bide their time in the reserves and build up as much experience and good habits as possible. It won't be an issue for me if he stays I the VFL for the rest of the year unless he completely bangs the door down. I doubt he plays this year but next year should be the aim for him to play at least 10-15 games at senior level.

  10. I was watching the scores and player stats on the AFL website and according to the stats for the Blues players we should have been blown out of the water, I think it was Hatley racked up 40 odd disposals plus they won the ruck, there were 4 or five Blues that had a higher ranking than any of our players and yet we were still going goal for goal with them. To be honest I was a bit surprised that we won the game. So must have been a better team effort for our Casey boys.
  11. I don't think it was the easiest conditions to play in and pack marks were hard to stick. Jefferson showed a bit and needs time to develop. Fullerton doesn't do enough and Verral is a little undersized IMO. Surprised how many VFL teams have a very tall ruckman. In fairness no-one stood out to me but the system and team play and emphasis on defence is why we won and is the role that must be taken to the seniors. Kolt, Brown & Sestan need VFL time to develop. Woewodin has speed and dash that I like. McAdam is underdone and Ben Brown kicks straight and gets 6 the narrative changes.
  12. Cost me money. Wanted to vack port but I assumed it 7:40 @#$%*@ AFL.
  13. He’s such a sore loser. They were 8 goals down because they couldn’t keep up with the speed of Ports mids in the first half. That’s not the umpires fault, or the AFL’s. I honestly doubt any team could have. Port were on. Sometimes you get outplayed. Just call it what it is and move on. He’s a petulant child.
  14. Heeney probably gets 2 or 3 votes last night so could be on 15-16 votes already.
  15. V the AFL FAVOURITES Bluescum 3-S.Walsh 2- C.Petracca 1- P.Cripps The projected votes have Gawn between 10-12votes, Trac around 8-10 , & May on potentially 6-7 votes.
  16. https://www.afl.com.au/news/1125845/andy-lovell A favourite Tasmanian son.
  17. As mentioned previously, I'm the proud uncle of an AFLW captain who was part of the CBA negotiations. They said there will be no problem attracting mid-career players looking to get further playing opportunities to Tasmania. The attraction of a short drive to training compared to what players in Melbourne have to endure a factor as is the cheaper real estate. Geelong make the most of both these to attract and retain players.
  18. Changes? Chandler clearly struggling with his knee. Though gets a 9 day break. I would bring Woey in to the 22. Kolt as the sub. Rest Chandler.
  19. I see Chris went on a rant about that advantage rule that didn't get paid. That is not why you lost
  20. https://twitter.com/7AFL/status/1788528363025387548/video/1 leaves the ground contact made propensity to do damage so why a fine ??? MRO is corrupt. Kozzy incident was the same. Soligo got up immediately. I thought the AFL wanted to stop such actions
  21. Next game Vs Brisbane next Sunday at 11.05 if the website is correct. Ludicrous time if right!?🤔
  22. As some of us on here felt he was with us. i still believe if he knew Gus would retire he would have stayed: He left for better opportunities and has got them with the current best team in the AFL. We have a hole after Clarry, Tracc, JV and Sparrow.
  23. Disappointing in that I didn’t think anyone stood out as a player to promote. Lots of ok performances. Kolt did 1-2 good things. He needs more time at Casey. Laurie is slow and whilst his disposal got better, he’s not up to AFL return imv. Hore was ok but came off for treatment and I don’t think he’s 100%. Kynan scrapped but he’s not ready to debut. BBB physically not capable. Kicked 4 points before getting his goal in the 3rd. I liked Jeffersons game. Definitely better in the marking contest. Stuck some good tackles. Tomlinson defended strongly and kicked well all night, including good 50metre plus clearances. Hunter got plenty of it yet he has slow ball movement. He’s probably the closest to getting a call up.
  24. Both fines. Newman incident an elbow to ANB’s jaw same as Kozzie on Soligo, also after leaving the ground, deemed low impact and not raised to medium, because of propensity to cause injury, like Kozzie. No explanation of why treatment different. Continues Carlton’s magical run at MRO and Tribunal.
  25. Longmire, whose Swans are now 8-1 and a game clear atop the ladder, was mindful of the Dockers' challenges on Friday and passed on his club's deepest condolences to McCarthy's family, friends, and Fremantle. The coach was proud of his team's professional performance on the road, with midfield recruit James Jordon celebrated for his run-with role on damaging Freo half-back Jordan Clark. "He's been terrific since he's come to the footy club. He can do a number of different roles and he's got a great temperament," Longmire said of the former Demon.
  26. BBB looks cooked. Couldn’t kick it over a jam tin, let alone from 35m. May have moved and marked well, but struggling to get anything going by foot.
