Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bizzell - Why has he been dropped.

i think we are all missing the point with this discussion.

i am not discounting bizzel as a player who has performed this year when he has been needed (in a poor team he has been reasonable). however, at 30 years of age, i still dont believe he has enough to offer the mfc as we look to win a premiership in the coming half decade. the money he is paid, and the position he holds, would be better utilised on player retainment and in developing a younger defender. bizzell might get a season next year. he might even play a few games the year after. but while he may be a servicable defender, and while he may perform when needed, we need to develop players who will be around for 10 years at the expense of his sort of player.

the only thing that might save him is that there are heaps of guys who will be delisted before him. however, if we could only keep one tall defender in reserve i would keep holland because at least he can play a specific role that no one else can...

I'm pretty confident that Rivers was a good player before he met Clint Bizzell, and will continue to be a good player long after Bizzell has retired.

Keep him on to help the kids if you like. We've got so many other players we need to cut, he might just survive and enjoy a year down at Sandy.

Spot on Jaded.

I dont see how a good player crediting his some of his development on another player makes that credited player better than the good player.

Rivers by a mile. Rivers may have learnt some things off Bizzell and that's fine. He clearly has not picked up Bizzell's lack of accountability , lack of pace and brain fades under pressure.

Bizzell is a fringe defender made to look better by a side that has been deplorable this year. The teams deplorable performance this year makes the absence of a player of Rivers' class even more diabolical.

For me, the question is not so much "Why has Bizzell been dropped?", but more "Why was Bizzell one of only a few senior players playing at Sandy on the weekend?"

Personally, I think Bizzell performed admirably in his appearances this year, and at this stage of his career I don't think we or he could have asked for much more out of him. However, if we're going to drop him seemingly on the basis that he has no future on the list, then there are few others who should be seeing out the year at Sandy and loking forward to another Zebra flag.

Realistically there is a list of about eight players who could be delisted at the end of the year and we'd be none the worse for it. I doubt we'd go quite that beresque with the chainsaw, but I'd really like to see as many of the juveniles played as possible in the last four games. I do realise that the young brigade has been completely massacred yb injury this year, but Bode should be getting a run from here on, as should C. Johnson, Dunn and even Neville. I think at 3-15 we can all be in agreeance that the campaign is well and truly over, so why not put young Neville or Johnson in? They could both well be delisted at season's end, but i'd rather give them the chop knowing that they'd been tried and failed rather than let them go wondering if they could have made a career for themselves.

Yep, I think Bizzell could have done a better job than at least a quarter of our side for much of the season, but now that it's shot to pieces I'd like to see more of the old stagers mke way for the youngsters desperate for their careers not to end before they begin.

You clearly missed the point

Your point is that Rivers is a better player because of Bizzell, and Bizzell has a lot to teach the younger players coming through, is it not?

Wonderful, but can he please do all that at Sandringham and not take away a spot from a kid who has a long term future at this club?

Oh, and if you really believe that Rivers' talents have anything to do with Bizzell, than I'm not sure I should bother.

Rivers made Rivers the player he is, not Bizzell. Dear god, are we clutching at straws or what?

Then why are Holland, Ward, Brown, Miller, Ferguson and Godfrey getting a game?

because riley is a [censored] jockey.

every person is the afl can see we should be playing our developing players ahead of guyz like ward, brown, holland, bizzel, pickett and godfrey.

the only person who cant see it is our selfish [censored] of a coach who is trying to be more competative by playing 30yr olds...

hey riley, how's that working out for u? we lose each week by 60 points and we cant even hang our hats on youngsters developing

Jaded, I really don't care if you believe me or not, the fact is that my source is Jared himself. So now you can easily prove that I'm wrong, go and ask him what influence Bizzell had on him in his first couple of years at the club.

One other thing, considering what you have recently falsely accused me off can you please refrain fromconstantly replying to my posts in a sarcastic manner, it's obvious that you're trying to bait me but I refuse to be bullied by you.

I never said I didn't believe you.

But I think it's naive to think that Bizzell actually made Rivers a good player. No doubt he helped him along the way, but Bizzell couldn't have helped him if he wasn't a great player to begin with.

With our without Bizzell, Rivers would still be a good player.

I was being serious when I said that he can stay on the list, and help the kids, but I was being even more serious when I said that he needs to do that while playing for Sandy.

Do you disagree with my summary of your opinion?

Fine, ask Jared then and prove me wrong.

I dont see the need to validate Jared's words as whatever he says does not make Bizzell a better footballer than Rivers is.

I agree with your assessment that Bizzell is likely to be given an extension albeit providing value at Sandy.

Will be interesting to see whether he gets picked this week......I reckon he will get an extension as well...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
