I have several bikes, I took the clunky mountain bike today. It is heavy but stable and requires more energy to move it along so it burns more calories. I don't have a fixie, too dangerous in the inner city traffic I think.

My observations great win, we are finding a way to prevail 3 out of 3 is a great start. Like the look of Oliver, Bugg, Kennedy. Loved J Watts' game today. Hogan, sign a contract now for 2 years, if your not sure, just concentrate on your footy and put your fricking agent back in his box. I still worry about our midfield, we were smashed in the centre clearances for three quarters and around the ground. When everyone was stuffed in the 4th our mids started to look sharper and innovative with the ball. Is it my delusion but we have rarely dominated centre clearances for years? Even in the Reverends time when we were very good I seem to remember we would retake possession at half back and attack from there. I think when Jeff White was going gang busters in 1998 with Todd Viney reading his tap outs was the last time I remember us cutting oppositions to pieces from the centre bounces. If we could replicate that dominance we would start to smash teams.

Very pleasant day today actually, in the morning after a hearty breakfast I completed the warehouse stocktake with Conchita and we have enough guava paste, Cuban cigars and Havana Club rum to meet all our future orders. I then got on the bike and rode helter, skelter to Etihad via the Capital Trail bike path using the HIIT methodology. I got there in record time of course, walked straight in and my first highlight was walking past Jack Trengove and Van the Man, gee they look fit! I am sure I then walked past Saty wearing his MFC away Guernsey with a new hair cut as well. I settled down near our cheer squad but I was so exhausted I the fell asleep and missed the first half. Apparently we played quite well.

Jaded are you on night shift or overseas? most people here are awake for the NABs!

Re Hogan have to say that was what I was thinking. He had a shocker by his standards. Just sign a contract for whatever timeline suits if you are not sure and concentrate on your footy. Player managers stuffing up young players with too many business options to maximise their future income, really, how about getting established first, get the score on the board before you play contract games. Sorry old school thinking.

A bit like Captain Blood toward the end. He kept muddling players names and mangling the language all at the same time but it was radio and we loved it as I remember?

If we start to win a few centre clearances maybe!

SMITH NO1 BUT NORTHEY A BETTER COACH THAN CHECKER?
Earl Hood replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
If not for some untimely injuries to the Ox, Jako, Sean Charles, Gary Lyon, Steven Tingay, Glen Lovett and add Martin Pike's drinking problems we might be talking about Neil Balme as well! -
Another week another muso gone. This time it is Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake & Palmer aged 71 years. Tarsus was one of my first vinyl albums when I was just a new teen. I played it to death, probably because we didn't have any other non classical albums in the house. I loved Fanfare for the common man, (especially the video shot in the Olympic stadium in Montreal) when it was released as well and was one of the few people it seems who liked their Works Album, well parts of it at least. When the London Olympics were on and as part of the entertainment they were trotting out all our old English rock favourites I was waiting for ELP to appear in the Olympic Stadium with Keith on the Organ banging out Fanfare but it didn't happen. A major oversight in my opinion by the British OC!

Christian Petracca's toe injury (in full training)
Earl Hood replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
And by the look of his physique he should have a low centre of gravity and so be able to keep his feet in tight situations and be very difficult to knock off any ball he is going for. -
A little levitation....the O'Reily way :)
Earl Hood replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think this unit has been operating for a while now, for example I have seen the holding the ball rule change several times within one game on numerous occasions. And I have even seen the rule change for one side versus the other side. They can be very innovative at times, not sure how the poor umpires keep up with the instructions though? -
Whoops!

Well I had assumed this thread was locked after I made the brave call on the smutty nature of the talk here by those I have identified as the chattering classes, the proleteriate as some call it. I assumed the moderators would act appropriately but apparently not! So the good doctor, DC and others can continue their smutty innuendos ad infinitum!

Not when I played. The forward types were all scatty types, may be there next year but maybe not. Your ruckman, and number one mid were stalwarts of the side and end of year activities

I prefer to call that period the Schwab era, Neeld was just an inexperienced pawn of the highly paid, master of incompetence!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Earl Hood replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting comment Pro as some here have commented on his similar physique and explosive speed to Jacko. I think Jacko was only about 6'1 but I think he could still play FF these days. Wonder if the Trac has the same speed over 10 or 20m and that X factor ability (that you can't teach) to kick goals from anywhere. -
Diamond yes I remember a friend who was involved in sports therapy, physio at the time saying the same thing back when his second op failed. Our preferred surgeon, perhaps an MCC stalwart, used An outdated procedure that had been superseded by then.

I think I remember come 1995 we lost the Ox, GLyon, Tingay, Jackovich, Glen Lovett and Charles all in the first half of the next season so that the Carlton we had smashed in 94 stepped up in 95! Gee with a dose of injury luck we would have snaffled one or two flags in the 90's, 1990 and 1995 for instance and 1998 irks me, we smashed The Crows but they got up to win somehow?

Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.
Earl Hood replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would have liked to see us try Tom up at CHF and Frost down back for a game or two. TMac using his engine to incessantly roam up and down the forward half to create options. He is a good mark and didn't he come to us as a young forward? -
What has happened to the old Aussie Davis Cup team ethos? Remember Rosewell and Hoad, Newcombe, Roche, Cash and Co, all were tough, competitors and friends through thick and thin. What is going on now? Tomic and Kyrios could be very good but are now sniping each other. What is it about Oz tennis players these days? Lleyton needs to get both of them in a room and bang a few heads together, maybe bring in Rochey as well to give them a reality check.

Partrick Dodson, you beauty. It's about time
Earl Hood replied to dee-luded's topic in General Discussion
He visited our family home several times in the mid seventies As I remember it when We were all much younger. My sister and her husband were working in aboriginal circles in the Kimberlies at the time, missionaries really. I remember every time I saw Paddy in our family dinning room he had an exotic looking indigenous women hanging off him. That would be oKay except he was the first indegineous Catholic Priest at the time. I can remember asking my Dad what was going on with the women and Patrick and getting the ice cold stare and silence. Back then he was a cool looking Dude and the women he attracted were very exotic. But his religion was not talked about. -
Or Uncle B make things worse? While you and I can have rational discussions on these matters, I fear the chattering classes, typified by the likes of DC, Biffen and Moons to name but a few, will just take anything I say and turn it into smut! I feel not unlike poor Carinal Pell, you can't win, no matter what you say. However yes some of my employees are very dark haired, of Spanish stock, shall we say, so they could be described as hirsute, but only in the right places if you understand me. I have banned razor blades in the Manor on OH&S grounds, as any responsible employer would and I demand to do weekly inspections to verify that we comply with all these guidelines. These are the burdens of leadership. Hudson's role is very simple, to manage and chaperone the maids to the ATM every week to withdraw half their wage in cash to put back into our housekeeping fund in line with the industry norm set by employer companies such as 711 etc. guava paste, well it is doing me a treat as I stated earlier, all I can say is I am hard as nails and am working with Blackmores, it could be worth mega dollars.

I believe Uncle Rupert is being married officially to JH at Saint Brides in Fleet Street today their time. The guest list is impressive as far as we know, very secretive of course. I know for sure that Lucifer, Belzebub, Satan and El Diablo are all there in the front row, but not clear who else got an invite at this stage.

One of the greatest goal kicking psychopaths we have ever seen!

Good heavens a simple request for advice about one of my employees degenerates into smutty discussions, as if between a group of year 7 boys of transvestites and lords taking first dibs at the local village virgin. No wonder I try to limit my contact with the proletariat!
