Saw that post and thought the same. I think he was just trying to be contrary.

You're not wrong. Stats are half the story. Brisbane's mids put no defensive pressure on their opponents and their NAB Cup star (Rich) got no protection. These issues are long acknowledged flaws in Beamers game, (not that he is wholly responsible) but he was part of a dreadful effort today. Voss will learn quickly (should already know from watching Melbourne games) that Martin isn't a forward. Should have started him in the ruck. Minson pulled Longer's pants down from the first bounce.

Let's be honest, a subscription to Foxtel is really supporting Rupert Murdoch, not your team.

.....and is therefore meaningless

My undertsanding is that their Etihad deal ends in 2015 and they will seek to return to the MCG at that time. Consistent with the greedy nature of the AFL and unless the MCC step in (but what power do they have to tell the AFL they want the MFC playing at the G?) so I can see this having teh potential to force us off the MCG for low drawing games. I'm not bullish about the solution that we simply "win games" Perhaps the QB game in the future will be like our 'homecoming' ?

Training - Wednesday 13th March, 2013
diesel replied to The Great Pretender's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll admit I didn't see the whole game but bits I saw included the obligatory Jamar tapping the ball directly to the ground underneath him. i.e. not to advantage and with very little follow up himself. I would even go as far to say he looks timid when jumping at the ball sometimes. Part of the problem could be a co-ordination with his mids but he is 1/4 of the 'team' at the stoppage so the he has to take some responsibility for us faling to get clean ball. Personally I'm looking forward to a fit Gawn to be given some game time to see where the future is. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
diesel replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rohan Connolly & Mark Robinson (both feral Essendon supporters) were immediately on the front foot in hosing down crticism of Essendon and Hird and rebuked other media members for querying Hirds position or the need for anyone to be sacked, even though the fact the investigation has had to occur exists as evidence that someone (perhaps many) at Essendon have failed to do their job(s)! -
They'll ruin Rioli if they continue to try and play him up the field, same as we did with Flash

More so injured last year. Has and will continue to go alright given the ruck position. I still say we kept the wrong bloke.

Nathan Jones. Oversight? Has a category been left out.....more pre-show BS

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

Tax liabilities hidden in drawers! Comical stuff......joke was on us. -
Reads like you've thrown the word "culture" in for some relevance crutch. There are a whole heap of not for profit organisations who have pokies, community based, RSL's etc. do we query their motives or culture? What we should ask ourselves as a citizenry is WTF do we let Packer, Mathieson or Woolworths Ltd own so many of them?? The last two for the record (according to Wikipedia) own over 10,500 of the bloody things!

I'm ambivalent about the change but it spells the end for guys without 'engines'. It doesn't necessarily mean we'll see more of the better players either, just those who can run a game out. Good players will still get tagged. Perhaps more so by blokes with less football ability but an ability to run for certain.
-
I'm ambivalent only in terms of results going into this season but I've never been so keen to actually see the first bounce of a season. I think what has happened off field has been profound and the most significant change to happen to this club in the last 2 decades. As far as how the outside world sees us? It couldn't be any less so it's not hard to see the way up and I think the people to take us forward have been identified.

RHS = Rectangular Hollow Section. If you were an Engineer you'd know this.

Seemed to be his forehead.

It Starts tonight. I'll be looking for some structures (they need to be sustainable regardless of who is in or out such as occasions like tonight) and also for improvements in individuals i.e. skills, second efforts, defensive pressure, 1%ers applied to each player based on their previous performance (or lack thereof). Need to get these fundamentals right and the rest such as consecutive wins and wins on the road will take care of itself.
-
I'd have been OK with that but then I'll reserve my judgement until I see this years crop in action. Tim Smith has a great pair of hands and is a good mover. Also kicked some clutch goals in games I saw. Good luck to all three

Bartlett yesterday said that Carlton weren't investigated because there was no evidence but there was at Melbourne. WRONG KB. The Melbourne investigation was instigated by Brock Mcleans suspicion which on its own was less incriminating or at least the same as what Libba said. Libba's opening up should have set off MORE alarm bells since he was in the coaching department FCS. IIRC he was questioned once (only him) and that was it besides an explanation of the Melb. v Carlton game from Ratten. The AFL's differential treatment of the 2 incidences borders on corrupt.
-
All things being equal I actually expect the gap between them and us to grow a little this year so JJJ perceptions may ultimately prove to be right? With a third of our list turning over It will take time for players to get used to one another, structures to settle but I'm not overly concerned, the upside is going to be there now the dead wood is gone and we have recruited for a harder edge.

Neither has his ability.

Look at the corruption in Horse Racing! If that industry is allowed to continue to operate I'm sure the little old MFC will be allowed to keep it's 75 Poker Machines.

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
diesel replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The most glaring thing looking back was her apparently personally motivated serve on Cameron Schwab, who has now been completely exonerated. In all the tripe, second guessing, prejudicial reporting and glaring mistruths this is one had the ability (and probably has) damaged our club commercially. CS as the clubs commercial figurehead is responsible obviously for business and sponsorship decisions. His reputation in such is paramount. I hope some posters on here who fawn over her reportage might now finally see why they need to rethink rather than being lead by their noses or influenced by their own agendas. Her behavior was PATHETIC & DISGUSTING. -
As others have said and anyone who has spoken to him will tell you, CC's style is joking but authoritative. It's a moot point, because Bailey thought he was serious and played along, everyone else looked away until the AFL investigators came knocking.
