  1. I think it was Justin Leppitsch on Thursday night that said words to the effect off “All teams will have a dip in form at some stage throughout a season, you can’t be up all the time.” Difference between us and say the Dogs and Lions is that our losses could be put down to mental fatigue or similar. I think that definitely applies to the losses against the Crows and Pies, the loss to the Giants was a combination of fatigue and team selection. But when we’ve come to play our best has been better than that of all other teams currently inside the top 8 of which we have played six, we are yet to play the Eagles this season. Being able to put lower placed teams away by 10 plus goals only counts for so much if that same form can’t get you wins over fellow top 8 sides.
  2. I thought the 8 was sewn up weeks ago, lots of upsets to come, loving the footy at the moment just hard to get a multi up.
  3. This doesn’t need a new thread.
  4. Are you thinking off another game? Ben Brown didn’t play against the Hawks, he played against North, Sydney and Carlton.
  5. I think Weid will be gone at seasons end. There’s not enough talent now for 18 clubs, I think there will be a couple of clubs willing to offer him regular game time.
  6. Great win, Port tried to rough us up early but we’re quickly found wanting. We have now beaten the other 5 top 6 teams. Port are 0 & 4 against the top 4. TMac is in AA form. May is a star. Petty played his best game to date. Langdon continues to escape criticism for his goal awareness, its been lacking in recent weeks. Looks to rush his shots when he actually has more time to steady, missed two gettable shots last night. Oliver was nailing his shots a few weeks ago, his attempts last night were poor. Was really happy with Brown’s game, thought he should of been paid the mark (in the 2nd qtr?next to the goal square). We have a lot of attacking options up fwd now, goals will come for him, can’t stop them all, he should of played last week. Loved Fritsch’s goal.
  7. Little bit nervous but I think we have a much stronger team on paper. No excuses, want a start similar to that against the Dogs.
  8. Dees Bombers Hawks Cats Lions Giants Dogs Tigers Eagles
  9. Can’t be serious, Port aren’t that good. They’ve beaten Swans and Tigers, lost to Dogs, Lions, Cats and Eagles.
  10. Strong team and we’re no taller than when we played the Dogs and Lions so that combined with Jackson’s athleticism I’m not sure what the issue is.
  11. So many new threads all discussing pretty much the same thing…. Are we pretenders…. Time to panic…. The way I see it…. Is sitting on top a a bad thing…. As little over a month ago we dismantled both the Dogs and Lions in spectacular fashion. We blew the dogs away in the first qtr/half before they could even get going. We trailed the Lions by 20 at half time before kicking 9 goals to 3 in the second half. We did all of this with Weideman lining up at full forward, (I don’t want this thread to become derailed) I thinks it’s fair to say he didn’t have a massive impact on either of those two games when the win was effectively set up, he was subsequently dropped as we know after the Collingwood game. So I don’t subscribe to the theory that we’re going to be too tall when Ben Brown lines up this week. Not only will TMac and Fritsch benefit from playing on the 2nd and 3rd best defender, our smalls will also benefit. When TMac marks 60 out from goal and turns around he’ll no longer be bombing it in to Spargo and Kosi instead he’ll have Brown leading at him out from the goal square. I believe Brown will be a game changer for us as we embark on the run home to the finals. This Thursday night is a very winnable game against Port, I could of got this wrong but looking back through this years games their biggest scalp is the Swans by 10 points only 2 weeks ago, also Richmond by 2 points in rd 4. They’ve been beaten by the Eagles, Lions, Dogs and Cats.
  12. I can live with the loss to Collingwood, after back to back wins against the Dogs and Lions and the bye the following week we had already checked out. The losses to the Crows and Giants didn’t have to happen. Barring injury i want Ben Brown to come in for the remainder off the season, every other forwards game will be better off with him being in the side.
  13. Played 9 games last year due to injury. Did more in his first two games against North and the Swans than Weid did in his five games.
  14. I needed that, thanks.
  15. Just waiting now for someone to tell us that they’re happy for Brown to come in next week but only for a block of four games.
  16. And the rain continues to come down.
  17. That’s crap, why didn’t Himmleberg snap it around his body.
  18. TMac is an excellent set shot, why do that crap from that far out.
  19. After the missed snap around the body I would like to retract my earlier statement….? Why do they do that, he was basically straight in front.
  20. Massive goal from Lynch, in context of the game and a massive kick all be it straight in front. That’s what key forwards bring.
  21. Forward pressure v scoreboard pressure.
  22. For those of us not watching…. Straight in front or deep in a pocket, rough distance? cheers
