  1. I agree with your last line. We know he's a depth player , all he has to to is spoil/ tackle Cloke. Sounds easy, but if he can limit his impact he's done his job.
  2. Great post Rusty, as I mentioned 1 page back I live in Sydney for work so at least you guys get to see them. I just got told I'm working queens birthday in the Hunter so this week will probably be my only live game this year. Some will joke I'm not missing much. We must STICK FAT.
  3. I'm not the only person thinking it. Another untried coach could spell the end. They don't just throw cash around, they will send in their people to train/guide with ghd hope all clubs can become self sufficient.
  4. I like the idea of cross . At least he knows how to win it.
  5. I've supported Melbourne all my life whilst living up and down the east coast including many years in Queensland. I returned to Melbourne 9 years ago and took out a Redleg membership, just under 4 years ago I moved to Sydney for work but have kept the membership. The first two years I was able to fly back for 4-5 games, last year due to work commitments I couldn't attend any. I was told on Friday last week to pack my bags for two weeks work in Melbourne, the first thing I did when I got home was to grab my membership card and scarf out of the cupboard. Yes we are currently [censored], but at least you guys get to see the [censored] live at the G. I can't wait to go this Sunday against the hawks and in two Mondays against the pies. I'm not expecting to see us win but I want to see the likes of Terlich and M Jones play. If any of you have been to Cronulla there's one pub there called Northies, it has a poor excuse of a sports bar, but when I home and the Dee's are on the box I'm in there. On the big projector is the league and the commentry coming through the speakers but on one of the small tv's in the corner is the AFL with the volume down and me drinking coopers pale ale making more noise then the rest of the bar. People often come over to look to see what all the noise is about. Most of us want Neeld gone but not the club, not attending games is not the way to go. Why not go but when the effort of players is not there stand and turn your back to the game. If a whole section of supporters did that in unison that would have a greater impact. These may be the only two games I get to see this year so I'm there.
  6. Considering the score and time in their possession and we have 4 more tackles than they do.
  7. If he was to stand down would he still get paid out? I'm assuming he would, be a man and do the right thing.
  8. And they lead the tackle count. Says it all. Must be sacked tomorrow.
  9. Neeld was midfield coach of the pies when they won the flag. Our centre clearances against the tigers were good considering their talent. With regards to Black not every retired player has a brownlow and three flags to their name. There are no guarantees but an assistant couldn't hurt. I'm pretty sure we've got a couple of young mids who would love to pick his brain.
  10. Fair call, I could have worded it better. No doubt Hinkley is doing a good job but his cause isn't helped when the players don't turn up mentally. I'm sick of players needing a spray from the coach or a milestone game to occur to show some effort. Neeld is gone, we all agree on that but look at the mindset of the players playing GWS compared to when playing the Tigers. This is purely a guess but can you imagine qtr/half time in the Geelong huddle, do they waste time asking the players if they could be bothered would they mind laying a tackle, or they can just talk tactics and not waste time asking for effort. A NRL coach by the name of Wayne Bennett had success with the Broncos and more recently StGeorge. When his team flogged the opposition he would always find negatives, when his side was beaten he would find positives. Neeld copped flack for saying 'it is what it is' , yes he hasn't worked out like we had hoped but regardless of who's coaching the players have to want it and must accept some responsibility for their own effort. What will Hinkley say after the game- we trained well during the week, set ourselves for today as Geelong is the benchmark. What he'd like to say - the on field leaders went missing in the first qtr, took a spray at the break to fire them up. They did put in after the break but were outclassed. The mindset of the Geelong players came about while Bomber was in charge but funnily enough didn't leave them when he did. On a side note- John Butcher, has had injury's but doesn't mind the contest , is built like a brick wall yet can't hit the side of a barn. Funny how some things work out.
  11. Port Power being made to understand by the Cats. Now we all know Neeld is gone but it will be interesting what Hinkley serves up in his press conference. They are a long way off. Coaches play their part but as we've seen all year from all clubs if everyone comes switched on your half a chance. Obviously skills go a long way but how important is mindset. Players must accept some responsibility for this.
  12. You're right, he should have dropped ages ago. Made to earn his spot , he has been spoilt , gifted games , that's the only mismanagement.
  13. What are you going on about? Ablett left the cats or is that differant. He left for money and missed out on a flag. Do you mean the leadership group which has tolerated sub standard performances for years? Another post has already stated some of his best football has been under Neeld. Running away won't make him stronger. If we can get a suitable trade then so be it.
  14. I think your right about north. A big if , but should we get a priority pick package it up with Watts then we have some bargaining power. Opposition players have to agree to the trade which may be a problem in some cases. Peter Jackson wasn't hired to sit on his hands , would love to have his office bugged.
  15. Agreed Neeld must go. Obviously a lot hinges on the new coaching appointment. I can't imagined that any other club would have matched the GWS offer to Scully. Our bargaining chip with Watts is up to 8 clubs want him (debatable). Lets hear them out. The no.1 tag currently means nothing.
  16. Let him go then , I'm sick of players who don't understand 100% effort is required every week. Sorry it's not his fault it's the coaches. Neeld has stuffed lots of things but Watts isn't one of them. Drafted as a key forward, playing him down back is a cop out. We have an opportunity to make up for another drafting blunder. Loose Watts - trade for an experienced mid.
  17. We were all up in arms about Scully until we landed Hogan. If we netted a good mid in return would we still feel the same about Watts, I think not.
  18. The clubs wants culture, call the players out at training, ask them if they have made their mind up 100% about leaving, if they are man enough to admit it they play out the season in the seconds. Phil Davis had the balls and was dropped for it, same should have happened to Scully. More than ever we need commitment from players and supporters if you don't want in sod off now you're not wanted. Probably would have effect with the new coach but you get the idea.
  19. So are soft overpaid underachieving so called footballers. We've stuffed up his development..... Just like like we've stuffed up the likes of Terlich. His problems are all mental. An ex player has one good game and there another one we stuffed up. We overrate our own players to much, if Watts wants out we want a decent trade in return.
  20. The bulldogs are screwed at the moment . Read an article yesterday on the AFL website about their recruiting for the past five years. Worse than our if you can believe that. But they are also struggling to attract free agents/trades.
