  1. Our losses to Freo and GWS are really starting to sting. Winning those two games and a win today would see us in 2nd spot.
  2. Most are aware he’s in his second year and acknowledge he’s a very talented kid and if his current trajectory continues he could quite easily be the best player in the competition in coming years. What I don’t agree with is that he’s the most influential player in the game right now and it’s not up for debate.
  3. Great result. We are still a chance for 2nd. Port loses to Crows and Cats. Lions lose to Pies. We win every game.
  4. Bont & Trac, easily ahead of Nick Daicos.
  5. If Pies lose tonight they’ve only lost 3 games for the season, they just happen to be against 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the ladder. But they will still occupy top spot and many will say they are still the best team and Nick Daicos is the best player in the competition.
  6. Cats blown so many opportunities. 2 gun key fwds and Stengle and this….
  7. Does anyone know with the AFL app to watch games whilst abroad can you watch replays or only live? thanks
  8. Do the have a backline, Is that their weakness?
  9. I see what you’re trying to do but I’d rather, Play every one once, then the 6, 6 , 6 from the previous year. This gives a team that finished 7th/8th the previous year a relatively easy draw and a chance to climb higher and really challenges teams that finished in the top 6. Or play every team once then 5 teams a second time. As an example Adelaide would play a second time Year 1 Brisbane Carlton Collingwood Geelong Gold Coast Year 2 Giants Hawks Port Tigers Saints Etc….. Every second time you play a side it’s at their home ground.
  10. Surely Pies over Port as well? I’m still hopeful (dreaming) Port lose their next 3.
  11. So for something different they’ve named the team as you’d expect they will line up. Many on here will be pleased….
  12. I did say slowly dying, and I believe it is. First and foremost league is a mugs game, very boring to watch and lacks skill (the conversion kick from the boundary being the exception but even then the ball is on sand or a plastic mould and all other play has stopped). The game plan is pretty much the same for every team. Very rarely do we see a team kick early in the tackle count, or utilise kicking for touch. It’s a game made for tv purely because of the rectangle shape field and that the teams line up in straight lines, not because of the excitement factor. I’ve now been living in Sydney for 15 years, junior participation in some areas is down with kids opting to play soccer and older rusted on fans have started to switch off due to the perceived soft state of the game after their much loved biff and cheap shots have been filtered out. A extension of this is Origin is no longer what it was in the 90’s and early 2000’s. This year they have the rolling bye which a lot of fans aren’t happy about. No they’ve never been big on live attendance but even in the workplace there isn’t anywhere near the same level of passion as there is when workmates talk about AFL. I’m not sure how we’re giving them a free kick by having a week off before finals start, we’re doing the best thing for our game, I actually like the idea. Are people going to suddenly switch onto league just to fill their sports fix? Sure some might but a lot won’t, and those that do I’m confident won’t be lost to the game for reasons I’ve already mentioned.
  13. Let me guess, it’s an anonymous vote….
  14. Umpiring needs to be looked at, intentionally out of bounds is a joke as are 8 metre kicks being paid. MRO / Tribunal currently a mess. The Brownlow and AA has lost its way. 19 teams and the thought of a twentieth team down the track is bafoonery at its greatest. The Suns in less than 9 months basically gave away their first rd draft pick in last years draft and just sacked another coach. The Eagles and North are getting smashed every week. Freo could also be looking for another coach shortly. People argue the competition is so even but as Geelong showed last week when it’s time to get serious there’s 4-5 teams than a massive drop off. I’m all for a team in Tassie, but it will struggle for reasons already discussed in other threads and it should only come in after another club has folded. It’s time to go North Melbourne…. For mine the only positive change that comes to mind in recent years is the 6 6 6 rule. Andrew Dillon and co can sod off.
  15. My thoughts exactly, couldn’t find anything on the AFL website so will be interesting to see what happens if anything. Would be fair to say the game has enough problems at the moment without worrying about [censored] like this.
  16. Just read on FB that the AFL are going to meet with the clubs on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of introducing a wildcard rd for teams that miss the 8 to somehow play finals. It had a paywall so the information was limited.
  17. Fair call, I was more so focusing on a potential shake up of the current top 4. Cats still could make it but an even bigger ask.
  18. Lions have Cats Gabba Pies MCG Port have Pies AAMI Crows AAMI Cats GMHBA Would take lions to drop at least 1 and Port 3 for us to finish 2nd. Not impossible but unlikely. As bad as Crows have been the last fortnight they beat Port earlier this season. We really need to capitalise on % over the next 6 weeks.
