2024 Phantom Drafts
That would be madness.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
Financially it can support as many teams as it wants but at what cost to the product.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
Potentially the next GWS / GCS with their players requesting trades after 2-3 years. Or will the AFL introduce a minimum 4/5 year contract for draftees.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
It was us years ago and we got our …. together, North haven’t. They’ve got some great kids but are a long long way off, even with their recent recruitment they will still get scored heavily against. Regardless it’s for the good of the competition.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
The news of North Melbourne selling / potentially selling home games to play in WA just strengthens my thought that 19 clubs are not sustainable in this competition. The AFLW is now realising they expanded to 18 teams too quickly. The AFL need to fold North when Tasmania enters and leave our competition at 18 teams for at least the next 50 years. This mindset of having to appease everyone is not good for the game. 18 teams works, a top 8 works, we don’t need a wildcard weekend or any more teams.

Gary Pert Quits as MFC CEO
Imagine supporting a boring club, at least there’s something always happening at the MFC to get us through the off season.

Nathan Jones joins MFC as an Assistant Coach
He did himself no favours with his tv commentary, can’t think of a reason he would hold back. Some commentators such as Luke Hodge and Daisey Pierce I find very insightful in terms of what teams were trying / achieving in terms of tactics. Some things to a viewer are obvious, some less so. Regarding what I think of the club / coaching group, we seem to be slow to adapt at times. Clubs changed the way they played against us by trying to avoid kicking it in long & high to their fwds because we have such strong intercept marks in May, Lever and Gawn when he drops back. Yet we continued to do it even though it wasn’t working, we cost ourselves a flag in 23 even with our injuries. All we needed to do was lower the eyes and get some separation. I wish Jones well as I do anyone who is at the club and I will back him in. But as others have stated I think he would of benefited from a stint at another club.

Nathan Jones joins MFC as an Assistant Coach
Do we have a skills coach? Regardless I would have thought a line coach could assist players in all aspects of their game.

Nathan Jones joins MFC as an Assistant Coach
I think all fans love Nathan Jones but his commentary was hardly insightful, listening to Daisey Pierce she seemed to have a much better grasp on clubs tactics / game plans.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
If Tauru is there at 5 we should take him, then a mid at 9, if he’s gone we take 2 mids. No to Armstrong.
-
The Harry Armstrong Thread
It’s a ploy to make Saints take him and we get The Viking. Langford & The Viking.
-
The Alix 'Flying Viking' Tauru thread
Tauru 193cm JUH 197 cm Wateman 191cm Cameron 196cm Hogan 195cm Curnow 194cm His disposal looks alright from the limited vision available & doesn’t have a ridiculous set shot approach.

The Alix 'Flying Viking' Tauru thread
Not all his marks are intercepts, can take a big pack mark. Will be a gun would to grab him at 5, can’t see him being there at 9.
-
The Alix 'Flying Viking' Tauru thread
It comes down to - Do we think we’ll bounce back next season or are we planning our next assault. I personally think we can and are doing both at the same time. - Petracca 5 years left & Oliver 6, compared to May 2 & Lever 4. - Mids are available every year. - Do we think The Viking is a future star of the game. - Trading for tall later will cost us more than pick 5.
-
Clayton Oliver
We all need to move on, bring on draft night then rd 1.
-
Why no key forward?
This plus we need separation from our fwds and our smalls to learn what it is to play as a small fwd. Kosi can have a game where he kicks 3 goals in a qtr then will go missing for 5 weeks or take unrealistic marking attempts leaving the opposition to run the ball straight back out.

Farewell Adam Tomlinson
Do you know who our KPD as Casey?

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
As deep as this draft might be the perceived top talent always goes first. 5 : Langford 9 : Tauru

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Agree Macca but problem is trying to trade for one can be even harder. These days every player seems to have an asking price 2 first rd picks.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Exactly, Petty can go down back where he plays his best footy. We need another quality tall fwd.
