  1. Two forward pockets and a half back flanker......nice.
  2. FAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKK.
  3. Never been part of a strong team or be a contributor to help make a strong team.
  4. One more question please TDI and Baghdad Bob..... Has there been a directive from coaches that if we have the ball in transition just outside our forward 50 and there isn't a clear marking option to just kick it in , bring it to ground and let our smalls apply their trade. I know every situation is different but knowing how structured Roos is, he may want us to work the ball around until a clear option presents. Last year the few occasions we took the game we looked alright in parts, I think the opposition rely on us to stuff around giving them time to flood back. I raised this in the last training thread and someone commented the Sunshine Coast camp was about building trust, I hope he is right.
  5. What position was Toump playing......anyone......anyone......Bueller...... Thanks again everyone for the reports. Would love to know who will set up of halfback during the season, there's a few names being bandied around. Again, quick ball movement requires competent operators. Some household names need not apply, it's the only way we are going to get better.
  6. And that's different for Watts how?
  7. Could you please explain your reasoning behind Watts. Cheers.
  8. JETTA FROST DUNN TOUMPAS TMAC SALEM VINCE JONES H KENT DAWES WATTS PEDO HOGAN GARLETT JAMAR TYSON CROSS VINEY NEWTON MITCHIE PETRACCA I know many won't agree but for me this team has a good balance of different ages. I think will Cross's last season but he is still valuable to us for reasons already explained in previous threads. Class of halfback, wow what a concept. Not just one but two options. Can rotate with H up onto the wing. Three tall forward options plus Watts who can rotate with Vince, or H to HBF, Watts to the wing and Salem to HFF. This team gives us multiple options. Two small forwards who find the sticks. Four mids on the bench, we have enough talls on the ground to shift around in case of injury. The thought of releasing Petracca with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd to roam through the midfield and up forward excited me.
  9. So all these training reports about quick ball movement.....need players that can kick otherwise what's the point.
  10. I think your right that whichever 22 run we can be guaranteed they will play as a competitive unit but I think it will be in twelve months time we will truly have the depth many believe we have now.
  11. Yeah that's a fair call but I don't want to be hearing it from the coach in a press conference after we've had our pants pulled down come round 5 or 6. As we know last year was all about all about defense and learning defensive structures this year were working on quick ball movement and quicker delivery inside 50 now that we have some options up there. It will be interesting to see what happens when were 1 kick out of the 50, do we hold it up and until we have a man on his own or get it in there and if a mark isn't taken let the Garlett's and JKH's do what do best, play instinctive football. I hope part of this "learning" is backing your teammate.
  12. I think we've all been guilty of overrating our side in the past couple of years. I hope there's a a few players that have breakout years, I really think we're getting it right this time but it's just bloody hard because we've been here so many times before.
  13. I am enjoying the reports so thanks again but two things.....(this is directed at the players not the people reporting) 1 - I'm sick and tired of hearing they're learning the gameplan or they're learning two way running. Are some of them just plain dumb? Every year they go through TAC they get a new coach and a slight variation on the previous gameplan. Those who gave been at the club for a period of time have seen many coaches come and go hence multiple game plans. There's only so many ways you can play the game. The have a coach/line coaches/group meetings/one on one meeting looking at replays of games. I'm no longer buying "they're learning". First year players excluded. 2 - I think we are getting ahead of ourselves with our new found depth. For example Newton and Frost I think have the makings of great AFL players but still have to prove themselves. Then we have the coming back from injury or consistently injured Garland/Toumpas then there's the getting a game but not quite up to it Grimes/McKenzie then there's out ruck department. Still a lot of unknowns for mine.
  14. What's with the name change BBO? I thought you actually changed your avatar a few weeks back, but it only lasted a day or two.
  15. This time Freo have the go home factor and will offer more cash. I reckon Danger is going to the Hawks.
  16. Plus I have high hopes for Frost.
  17. Agreed that' he's a decent defender Jumbo but I tend to agree with DemonAndrew, he's heading home.
  18. Its going to be bloody interesting, I see Garland possibly fighting for a spot with Grimes as opposed to Jetta. In the thread regarding "bombers boycott" some have said we only need the two NAB cup games, I'm thinking we need the three, lots of unknowns in the team makeup and we need to give everyone a chance to prove their worth.
  19. I agree with you RJay in regards to Garland with his versatility but I pose this question. If he can recapture his best form is there any aspect of Grimes game that is better than Garlands?Jetta Frost Dunn Garland Tmac Salem/Toumpas I'm reading about these training drills which involve quick ball movement from one end of the ground to the other. All good in theory but come game day not so good with average of below average kicks.
  20. I wouldn't say typical, most defenders are defenders because they weren't good enough to be a forward. Most defenders first instinct is to punch the ball then get straight back to their man. If he is an athlete turned footballer one thing that sets him apart is he backs himself, I'm aware he's played limited games and that highlight packages are just that but there's a few shot of him taking a contested mark rather than go the spoil every time, which he can also execute well. Also doesn't mind taking on the opposition. As we strive to get better we need our players to be versatile, every defender needs to be able to attack and vice versa. If a defender can mark the footy it's better than it being a 50/50 on the ground. I know its early G.R.R.M but I'm liking what im hearing and reading about him.
  21. I think Burns not only being at traing but taking part in it is such a smart move. Have we done something like this before?
  22. Thanks to all who posted training reports. - What am I missing with Frost: tall, quick, athletic, can take contested mark, can spoil, and takes the game on. I know he's only played a handful of games but I think we are seeing a star in the making with him.
  23. What was wrong with Watts again, I do read your reports each week(I've just a bit on so can't remember. Cheers.
  24. Where can I get a shirt like that?
