  1. JETTA FROST DUNN H MCDONALD SALEM VINCE JONES WATTS KENT PEDO HOWE GARLETT HOGAN PETRACCA JAMAR TYSON CROSS VINEY MICHIE TOUMPAS NEWTON I would like to see Salem/Toumpas start off a back flank as some elite disposal coming out the back half. Apparently being the captain affects your ability to kick a footy.
  2. Article on AFL website, Roos unsure if Jones will captain alone next season. Struggling to come up with another name. No need for co-captains.
  3. Im Melbourne born and bred, moved to Sydney five years ago for work, spent last four years living in Cronulla. There is some truth in what you say. There's one pub in Cronulla and in there pathetic excuse of a sports bar they're good enough to put on the fox footy for me when the Dee's are playing, even if it's only on a small tv with the volume down while the masses watch league on the big screen. It doesn't take long before the punters come over to see why one bloke is making so much noise.
  4. Lives in Bondi......Bondi is a tip. He'd want to be in Manly or Cronulla.
  5. Your right the game has changed so I can't understand why people still think Grimes is an automatic selection and there's no need for us to have some elite users of the football coming off halfback. I still use the term back six/forward six because that's how they line up on paper but ideally I'd have both back flankers and one of the forward flanks as midfielders who just so happen know how to use the footy.
  6. Garland would not be a walk up start at every club. Over his career he has been good, reasonably consistent but not what I would call great or elite. TDI has said The Prince is playing off half back, so who misses out. Although Garland at times he may have had to play as a key defender I think he's better suited as a third tall.Jetta Frost Dunn The Prince McDonald Howe/Grimes/Garland Too many names so someone's got to go. The club targeted Frost for a reason, he played 16 games last year, has a bit of go about him and will hopefully form the back half of the spine for years to come along with McDonald. So The Prince takes a good intercept mark, breaks the lines with his run which is something we desperately need but we still lack an elite kick of half back. Jetta Frost Dunn The Prince McDonald Salem/Toumpas/someone-anyone There is enough experience there to allow us to try someone else who has the potential to be an damaging player for us for years to come.
  7. RPFC - If The Prince is playing on the wing. How did the first choice backs set up? Although our defence improved last year we still lack class. Is now the time to groom someone at half back. Salem or Toumpas. Highlight packages can be deceiving but I like the look of Frost. From the training reports Howe is still in defence, I personally would play him forward. Jetta Frost Dunn Salem McDonald Howe Garland is 26, allowing for injurys he's been good without being great. Grimes is another interesting one. We need to be better than good if we are to climb off the bottom.
  8. Premiership player is only overrated when discussing Nick Maxwell or Nathan Ablett.
  9. Phase 1 complete, management has done their numbers. Now for phase 2.
  10. I am not across any contract/s but would have thought with the recent departures of Clark and Chip, Dawes into his 3rd year of his contract, Vince and The Prince on decent wickets, lots of kids and comparing our list player for player with the likes of Hawthorn and Sydney we could easily accomodate what Jones is asking and offer huge coin for "insert name".
  11. Clark, Dawes, Vince, Cross, Tyson, The Prince, Garlett....It's a vicious circle. We just need to become better at it.
  12. Highest bidder......Nth Melbourne??.....Brad Scott....."it would be irresponsible to match the Pies offer for Levi...I think he'll stay but if he does go would be surprised if it was to North, edit: nothing should surprise us anymore.
  13. I thought his game went to a new level under Roos/Stone. His kicking improved I think largely to thinking situations through rather than trying to barge his way through. At 26 still has some quality years ahead of him.
  14. Hard to see how we can stuff this up. Old management yes. New management no.
  15. Thanks to all who report about our training sessions, somewhat eases the wait
  16. My halfback line read the same as yours, my mates question his fitness/age to hold down halfback, there is no argument about his talent. Considering how poorly we've been over recent years im surprised by how many people have made minimal changes in their best 22. This has hopefully been the last year for mass list changes.
  17. Thanks for that I knew it wasn't going to be many. As I said in a previous post I don't expect Hogan to kick 1 goal a qtr next year but it can't hurt to set yourself targets. Between ages 23-28 I will be expecting that from him.
  18. So how many years do we give them? Tackling...a fundamental basic of the game yet many of our players struggle to lay a tackle and when they do its not effective. Kicking for goal is another one, how many hours are spent by forwards practicing what they're paid to do. Obviously first and second year players need time to adjust to the pace of the game but there has to be a cut off. Another classic is "they're learning the new game plan" how many are there seriously? When Hinkley went to Port they shot up the ladder in a year putting that theory to bed. If kids play TAC, in most cases they get a new coach every year, hence a slight deviation from last years game plan. On top of that they have club/school footy. I think some clubs/coaches tend to overthink it hence over complicate it. This club has run out of excuses.
  19. Aim to win the clearance/stoppage first but it we don't everyone's attention should turn to chasing/tackling/defending. Obviously all games play out differently but with the amount of numbers around the ball at stoppages the opportunitys are there. Some of our players need to set themselves the goal firstly of laying an effective tackle, then move onto racking up numbers. Winning the tackle count doesn't mean youve lost the game. In some games this year Jones went head to head against opposition gun players, whilst his tackle numbers varied he did damage going the other way. I think largely over recent years our taggers have failed to carry out their job. There is room for improvement from the whole list. No there probably isn't a set number in terms of position, I see it more as an individual thing as we strive to become better. It should start with aiming to get pb's during the pre season.
  20. Aim to be the best and if you fall short its most probably still a reasonable result. This attitude of have a run, get a feel for the game needs to end. I don't expect Hogan to kick 80 this year but it can't hurt to set yourself targets. Run out with the mindset one straight kick on goal a quarter. Mids who play 13-15 minutes out of a 20 minute qtr should be aiming for two tackles a qtr. Sydney is more than capable of achieving those numbers. We've had numerous games where we were soundly beaten and tackle numbers were shite.
  21. I would have thought key forwards should aim for 1 goal per qtr.
