  1. Yeah that's a fair call but I don't want to be hearing it from the coach in a press conference after we've had our pants pulled down come round 5 or 6. As we know last year was all about all about defense and learning defensive structures this year were working on quick ball movement and quicker delivery inside 50 now that we have some options up there. It will be interesting to see what happens when were 1 kick out of the 50, do we hold it up and until we have a man on his own or get it in there and if a mark isn't taken let the Garlett's and JKH's do what do best, play instinctive football. I hope part of this "learning" is backing your teammate.
  2. I think we've all been guilty of overrating our side in the past couple of years. I hope there's a a few players that have breakout years, I really think we're getting it right this time but it's just bloody hard because we've been here so many times before.
  3. I am enjoying the reports so thanks again but two things.....(this is directed at the players not the people reporting) 1 - I'm sick and tired of hearing they're learning the gameplan or they're learning two way running. Are some of them just plain dumb? Every year they go through TAC they get a new coach and a slight variation on the previous gameplan. Those who gave been at the club for a period of time have seen many coaches come and go hence multiple game plans. There's only so many ways you can play the game. The have a coach/line coaches/group meetings/one on one meeting looking at replays of games. I'm no longer buying "they're learning". First year players excluded. 2 - I think we are getting ahead of ourselves with our new found depth. For example Newton and Frost I think have the makings of great AFL players but still have to prove themselves. Then we have the coming back from injury or consistently injured Garland/Toumpas then there's the getting a game but not quite up to it Grimes/McKenzie then there's out ruck department. Still a lot of unknowns for mine.
  4. What's with the name change BBO? I thought you actually changed your avatar a few weeks back, but it only lasted a day or two.
  5. This time Freo have the go home factor and will offer more cash. I reckon Danger is going to the Hawks.
  6. Agreed that' he's a decent defender Jumbo but I tend to agree with DemonAndrew, he's heading home.
  7. Its going to be bloody interesting, I see Garland possibly fighting for a spot with Grimes as opposed to Jetta. In the thread regarding "bombers boycott" some have said we only need the two NAB cup games, I'm thinking we need the three, lots of unknowns in the team makeup and we need to give everyone a chance to prove their worth.
  8. I agree with you RJay in regards to Garland with his versatility but I pose this question. If he can recapture his best form is there any aspect of Grimes game that is better than Garlands?Jetta Frost Dunn Garland Tmac Salem/Toumpas I'm reading about these training drills which involve quick ball movement from one end of the ground to the other. All good in theory but come game day not so good with average of below average kicks.
  9. I wouldn't say typical, most defenders are defenders because they weren't good enough to be a forward. Most defenders first instinct is to punch the ball then get straight back to their man. If he is an athlete turned footballer one thing that sets him apart is he backs himself, I'm aware he's played limited games and that highlight packages are just that but there's a few shot of him taking a contested mark rather than go the spoil every time, which he can also execute well. Also doesn't mind taking on the opposition. As we strive to get better we need our players to be versatile, every defender needs to be able to attack and vice versa. If a defender can mark the footy it's better than it being a 50/50 on the ground. I know its early G.R.R.M but I'm liking what im hearing and reading about him.
  10. I think Burns not only being at traing but taking part in it is such a smart move. Have we done something like this before?
  11. Thanks to all who posted training reports. - What am I missing with Frost: tall, quick, athletic, can take contested mark, can spoil, and takes the game on. I know he's only played a handful of games but I think we are seeing a star in the making with him.
  12. What was wrong with Watts again, I do read your reports each week(I've just a bit on so can't remember. Cheers.
  13. Shouldn't that read without your input? The site will be lesser without your input.
  14. So if kids can access demonland I wonder what other kinds of websites they can look at? Get off the mods backs they don't get paid for their time. At times people get on have a rant then that's the end of it. People step over the line and serve their time. If you think what has been written here is worse than what kids are exposed to through the school yard/advertising/movies/web sites ect I would suggest you get outside a bit more. For every poster having a dig at Saty there are ten thanking him for his efforts. Posters have ability to ignore other posters if they choose. One difference a forum like this has as opposed to FB is that everyone can remain anominous unless you choose to put yourself out there. I as many others do live interstate and am grateful for the services Demonland provides.
  15. It begs the question why Grimes is still there then. Garland chose to concentrate on his footy. Can only assume he removed himself from being voted for. Debate raged yesterday in a training thread about certain peoples sudden ability to dispose of the footy. No excuses for anyone this year.
  16. Glad we've moved away from co captains. Grimes lives or dies this year on football ability alone.
  17. Take the southern cross off.....leave it on......not fussed either way but the cow and sheep......clever doesn't come to mind for me.
  18. Last night watching the tennis at the bottom of the base line was the word Melbourne with the letters boxed. I've seen it done like that on various tourism paraphanilia. It doesn't say "city of melbourne" because there's no need, Melbourne is identifiable enough by itself. I was under the impression we went from being the Demons to the Melbourne Demons a few years back in fear of relocation. I'm tired of hearing this is how the soccer does it, or this is how the NFL does it. Wasnt there a study done a few years ago that said per capita AFL had the 4th biggest crowd attendances in the world. Our next tv rights deal is tipped to be over a billion dollars. Anyone that matters is this game from the ceo's of the corporates or the clubs through to the coaches, players, members, supporters and right down to my daughter who reserves her right to pick her own team to follow and to have no real interest in football at the moment knows us as the Melbourne Demons/Dees and knows that we're been crap for years. And when we rise again and we will, we will still be the Melbourne Demons or the Dees. There is no identity crisis. I own a 2014 training shirt and polo, the emblem is fine, Im not sure what the issue is.
  19. Note one has a cow and a sheep on it, I don't follow soccer at all so could someone please explain the relevance. We don't need city in our name as we already have "Melbourne" in it. Melbourne is enough in its own right. When you say nightmare to reproduce, how so? I dont get why your reproducing it?
  20. Just stand at a busy intersection in the city waiting for the lights and say "tindering 1 metre" the response from woman is priceless.
  21. I like the idea of a demon shop in the city. Not sure what's wrong with the logo....I may have missed something. I don't like the idea of the Melbourne "city" Demons. Free clappers....? I would have thought that the AFL and the home team have numerous activitys on offer for the kids everything from face painting, photo opportunities to kicking and handball comps. As an adult my match day experience consists of a meal at the Waterside followed by some friendly banter on the tram then catching up with mates I only get to see at our home games. As has been mentioned before regular wins followed by finals will increase the match day experience.
  22. He did slacken off for a few games in the second half of the season but overall I think he stood up and did what Roos asked of him. As for your 8 I don't see why Jones, Tyson, Cross, Viney, Dunn, Jetta, Tmac, H, Howe, Garland and Vince can't all have solid years and the two who frustrate the hell out of me Dawes and Watts. I believe we will shoot up the ladder this year. I enjoy reading your opinions Macca.
