Howe is a good player but he's not a key forward/defender or a gun mid so there has to be a limit. The club knows what that limit is, offer it and leave it at that. Gone are the days of players cashing in on our club.

I live in Sydney so don't get to the VFL but if Toumpas can't improve his disposal by years end under Roos/McCartney/Goodwin he can go. There's no more hanging on/wasn't developed properly/played to early crap. I remember when kids from SA and WA were all the rage because as kids they played against men. Start looking(if not already) for the next Vandenberg. All players coming to the club need to be competitors and need to be able to use the footy.

Yes but giving it a go and being any bloody good are two different things.

Not good news but in good hands, no rushing him back.

I liked the bit about reading up about Jordan and becoming a better captain and lifting the team to another level.

Finey just confirmed dropped. What have we got that they want and we can afford to loose. -

As brilliant as Geelong have been watching them today was painful. Would love to beat them and North. Both teams have beaten up on us for years, both today were bloody ordinary. -
Ive been wrong about a few players over the years but Jones wasn't one of them. Watts has all the talent in the world and is now surrounded by an elite coaching panel, it's up to him. The thing that I find interesting is there's three schools of thought about Watts. 1 - needs to dropped, lost his confidence, not earning his spot 2 - he's doing his role there's no problem 3 - he's still learning/developed wrong/he's trying I said in an earlier post, I liken him to Grimes last year, he's in for now can't afford to have him sitting at Casey next year. That would be a big waste of our salary cap.

Need to offer new contract next year, don't wait until 2017 and don't insult him with the first offer. Straight off the bat 5 mill for 4 years. Remembering the cap will be increasing. -
Agree with all that Jumbo but to be fair lots of other players faced those same challenges. Most of us on here are over the no.1 tag and we understand the difference between inside and outside or contested/uncontested. I've written before about watching Watts kick the ball and wonder where the f##k it's going only to have him spot someone up through heavy traffic. But his decision making is terrible at the moment along with other aspects of his game. Grimes is out of the team at the moment and I've drawn a line through his name, not fussed if he never plays for us again and seeks a trade at years end. Watts being dropped doesn't mean the end but it could be just what he needs, go back and focus on certain areas with help of McCartney and Roos. Something as simple as being dropped for a few weeks could change his whole mindset, but if we don't try we'll never know and the mental pressure will increase each week on him.

Was that you BBO? They showed footage of a dees supporter getting his shirt off.
-
All teams should have that mindset.

I had to laugh when I heard Rance was considering walking away from the game....just go then.
-
His class isn't in question Jumbo, it's the frequency of it. I wrote in the "changes for round 5" thread that his decision making used to be a highlight of his game but that too is missing at the moment.

Bagging or constructive criticism. Great teams continually look to improve.

Last year Grimes was supposedly untouchable even though he churned out some ordinary performances. Was that because of lack of options? I don't hear many complaints about our backline or Salem for that matter. If Pedo was to make the team I think he'd play like every game was his last. Imagine if he took a couple of marks inside 50 and then kicked a couple. Suddenly the pressure is on Watts to lift his intensity. Now we all know Watts has class and can be an elite user of the footy, now imagine he's playing with an increased level of intensity......what a concept.

His decision making used to be a highlight of his game but that too has currently gone missing along with his confidence. Some of his defensive efforts last night were questionable. As others work their backsides off running both ways, Watts at times seems to take his time. You can selectively use stats to suit any argument for or against. The work in progress/potential card had been played a thousand times. I think he would benefit from a stint at Casey and some extra tuition from McCartney. Give him another run in a few weeks.

Thank you Stu, I'm aware of that. Yes I did read my own post but I think the context surrounding them was lost on you. Next....

Most of us have gotten over what number he was taken. According to many on here we are no chance the next 3 weeks so it's a perfect opportunity to swap him for Pedo. Watts can go back on work on a few areas of his game.
