  1. Last week it was a selfish Devon Smith asking for a handball from a teammate that was lining up 10 metres out and subsequently missing a left foot snap, then last night we had Himmelberg doing exactly the same thing to Flynn. No wonder those teams are struggling when players are making it all about themselves, back your teammates and get around them.
  2. Great to see a few Melbourne Premiers beanies in the crowd.
  3. Yes, I definitely think they give some great insights about their teammates. I enjoy listening to this podcast, found today’s episode amusing. The boys have been pretty much spot on with their ‘selection’ segment this season and by the sound of it Melksham was very close to getting a game this week. Like hearing from quirky characters such as Hunt and Ed, Hunt’s draft story was an interesting one.
  4. Lol, it had to happen after I said I’ve never seen the starting 18 changed before.
  5. The particular poster’s mail is usually reliable W’DEE, good luck to Dunstan if indeed he’s a starter.
  6. You could be right Nascent, as far as I’m aware I don’t think I’ve ever seen it changed 24 hrs later, injury being the only exception.
  7. Yes Cards, to my knowledge it’s always been the case the starting 18 named in an extended squad are a lock unless there’s a late out for the reason you mention.
  8. Wonder what the record is Pates? It’s now 3 weeks in a row. Goals conceded by us in first quarters this year, 2-2-0-0-0.
  9. Yes, it is something else at the moment. When we put the foot down in the GF all I remember is Libba chasing our mids with his tongue hanging out. After Sparrow’s effort last weekend to get us a goal there were several GWS players hunched over gasping for air while ours still had the energy to sprint to Sparrow and recognise his effort. I was absolutely blown away by our running capacity last Saturday night.
  10. Wasn’t sure where to post the below, came across it browsing ESPN. I found it an interesting read, I realise Champion Data isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but all that really stood out to me was our rankings. https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/33768562/afl-2022-champion-data-deep-dive-stats-reveal-premiership-contenders-fremantle-dockers-melbourne-biggest-danger
  11. I only heard the booing twice, both times when Jesse was lining up for goals. I would like to think it was just to put him off rather than booing him directly. There were also a few other boos when GWS players were lining up.
  12. Looks like he will miss a decent chunk of the season, unlucky for the young fella. https://www.afl.com.au/news/745175
  13. You gave me something to do DZ. Gabba - Lions v Pies 32,212 Optus - West Coast v Swans 42,888 Adelaide Oval - Crows v Tigers 33,031 MCG - Blues v Port 33,433 MCG- Hawks v Cats 48,030 20,791 for our game. All three Marvel games aren’t showing a crowd figure on the AFL site.
  14. Pity most of the conversation is about the umps and the rules today, this is actually a cracking game.
  15. I’m pretty sure No14 inside the centre square paid the 50 for abuse against Gunston after he pointed to the scoreboard.
  16. Lol did umpire 14 pay the 50m penalty because Gunston pointed to some dark clouds in the horizon?
  17. Glad it was just a fine, May definitely stuck his leg out intentionally.
  18. The abuse rule is awesome, when it happens against Essendon.
  19. He was almost out the door, could be a case of his players saying not yet or Blues just can’t put 4 quarters together.
  20. We’ve seen it with us, did Port have 18 post-season surgeries? Ken might walk after this.
  21. Petty is an absolute gun Luci, he looks in terrific shape this year…was really noticeable. The few times May had a spell on the bench Petty was marshalling the troops as the deepest defender.
  22. Ticketing is a big issue from talking to people at work. Wonder if the MCG going cashless is another reason. There are some people left in the world that like to pay with cash. We probably have to temper expectations with crowds this year, Carl v Haw had a ripper crowd of 67k or thereabouts, the following week Hawks v Saints at the same ground get 30k.
  23. We really do prepare for everything the opposition might throw at us and it’s no wonder opposition coaches look bereft of ideas at times in the coaches box. It might have been brought up on Game Day, the Giants used one of their best defenders in Haynes on Lever in the early parts of the first and second quarters. Haynes tried to wear Lever like a glove for obvious reasons, but if you focus on one player May and Petty will chew you up. Hunt stepped in to block Haynes several times so Lever can try and do Lever things, that particular tactic didn’t work for them so they gave up on it quickly. Our boys just go the extra mile when it comes to supporting each other.
  24. Goodness, into $2.85 to win the flag. Wonder if any team has been that short after R5.
  25. Slightly surprising to see only 20k on the big screen, it definitely sounded like there was a lot more there.
