Straight Sets Simon replied to Hulett Packard III's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whilst I don't necessarily agree with Freak's analysis, everyone was pretty excited about training and had a lot of "faith" in the football department when Bailey came on board, but we now know how that all turned out. -
Same as Jack Jack, wow. That was incredible.

That photo of Fitzpatrick is a classic but not surprising. -
What really annoys me about Haddin dropping that catch yesterday is that he was carrying on like an absolute [censored] after he took a couple of regulation catches in the first innings.

Dees find their crumbing forward - I'm rapt!

If you look at Davey's body shape now compared to when he started it is completely different. He is much heavier now and doesn't glide over the ground as freely as he used to, I am not sure he is still suited as a small forward, but more than happy to be wrong. -
Nothing wrong with making a video, but at least do it well or with some structure. Watching Cale Morton dance like a [censored] doesn't promote the club, no matter how much "fun" the team had.

That was horrible.

24hrs inside the Melbourne Demons Den

Thankfully they left out the line "you should have gone sideways to Bartram to kick along the boundary..." -
Top Ten Could-a-been Champions for the MFC
Straight Sets Simon replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think people forget just how good Daniel Bell could have been. He looked very promising early on, I am not sure if his decline is directly linked with his concussions or not, either way he could have been a very good footballer. EDIT: Probably not a champion, but a lot better than he showed. -
Top Ten Could-a-been Champions for the MFC
Straight Sets Simon replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone has uploaded the full 2006 Qualifying Final against St Kilda on YouTube, and I know this is often regarded as McLean's best game but what stood out to me was his pace, he wasn't quick but he wasn't slow at all either, interesting to see how much he has changed. -
Does anyone else find T20 really boring?

MFC list now if Neeld took the helm in 2008
Straight Sets Simon replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Like all things in life a good list will have balance. You can't have all tough inside players, you need some silk on the outside. You can't just have tall forwards, you needs crumbers too. So to say Neeld would only just get the tough players is wrong, I feel he had addressed areas where we needed a better mix. -

Cale Morton starting to get bigger..?
Straight Sets Simon replied to Lutz's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cale has always been much smaller than his brothers. He will always be skinny, but he still needs to add quite a bit more muscle than he has now.- 80 replies

Yes, but he did have knee problems as a junior.

I saw this photo a week or so ago, I just assumed he was cashing in his pay for the day.

Why AFL doesn't have an owner operating business
Straight Sets Simon replied to 7-UP's topic in Melbourne Demons
We just don't have a culture of it in the AFL. North tried it, but it didn't work. Owners in the US are about making money, not necessarily winning, if Melbourne was privately owned we would probably be the Greater Western Sydney Demons and Phil Scully would be our head of recruiting. -
The Waylen (aka Zyrus) Manson Thread

Am I on Demonland or sitting in the Collingwood cheer squad at Victoria Park in the early 1990's? -
Volvo left last year. RobbieF mentioned something about a Chinese airline.

Straight Sets Simon replied to DEELIRIOUS's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hate saying this and I am often critical of people who say this (therefore I am a hypocrite), but I can't but feel that the fact that Jurrah is Indigenous that the whole Jurrah being "lazy" thing is overplayed due to stereotypes that exist. No one has said this, but I can't help but feel undercurrent is there. -

Can the word "elite" please be banned from these forums? -
There is a difference between tanking and winning not being your top priority. Any time a team "plays the kids", winning is not their top priority.
