You are joking, right?

So OD, you reckon he can't learn from past mistakes so as not to repeat them (sound familiar), and realise under a new coach he has a clean slate, do a full pre season, follow instructions and carry out a role.....no?

Not necessarily, saw him myself pounding around the tan, he could be inside on one of the running machines, or the heat room, there are more ways of getting you fitness than do laps of an oval watching other players train whilst you do Forgot another no show Tapscott -

RGRS, that's the last time you stand next to me at training, you took all my best lines, especially the GPS data What RGRS said, session started at 9.55 and finished at 1245 Couple of Roosisms heard "That's better, that's what AFL footy looks like" "it's the last quarter, you don't stop running now" He is really on Viv Michie's case Hogan was over the far side of oval with Garland and Dawes before rest of squad arrived, did a few exercises with one of the physios, a couple of slow laps and then left, Round 1 a mystery Dawes did the same exercises and then as said left for the tan Garlo reckons he is two weeks away, was running at full pace with no obvious discomfort No sign of Clark The other wounded warrior, Riley, did nearly the full session, asked him and he said was right on track for Round 1 VFL or 3 AFL JKH only kicked the ball around for about 15 minutes, asked him if everyting was ok, said he was on light duties and saving energy for tomorrow Asked Lynden Dunn the same thing as he was only walking laps, said he was old Definition of tough asked Chip Frawely about hit on Saturday, after he had completed full session me "how the hell did you survive the hit on Saturday" Chip "caught me right down the middle, coughed up a bit of blood, bit of a bruised rib, but she's sweet now" RGRS forgot this bit, I asked the GPS guru why the long session, answer Roos thinks teams playing this week will have advantage in work done, so he wanted to emulate the amount of running etc the players would do in a game Walked in to Bernie Vince and Daniel Cross on leaving, Vince the comedian, obviously overestimating my influence at the Club, told me to tell Roos, no more hard sessions like that Any questions feel free. -

And all before a ball is kicked in anger

I am proudly an old fart, better than being a young upstart The players will have to be on the right track now, otherwise a full season at Casey beckons, that is the difference, Roos has drawn a line in the sand, you play, you play your role, you give it everything you have got, you play next week -

I am nearly unemployed and will be actively seeking work, but have leave that they want me to burn so payout is not larger, so going to go Friday morning at this stage, will put a report on this esteemed forum, doubt whether there is an Intra Club as somebody said, think Casey have another practice game lined up this weekend so assume there will be some MFC players playing. As for the group, spoke to Jack Grimes, everybody is still on the same page and know they either perform or spend the year at Casey, so I assume when I go to training it will be full on -

I am on the bandwagon, only have a concern over the forward structure for the first couple of games, but think Roos is good enough to work it out. I am more than please we are capable of getting our hands on the ball now, if we can get the forward structure working can see the Richmond game and better becoming the norm Had a good chat to Jack Grimes recently, he is still confident everything is going in the right direction, the message has got through to the players, you need to play your role or you won't be in the team, Roos' line in the sand comment at his presser after the Hawks game underlined again loud and clear -
How many games of AFL did you play in that possie, hiding your light under a bushel? O, you have to remember you are dealing with some posters who forget to face the green bit now and again, Roos has Dunn doing the kick outs, so he obviously sees something in him and in the season guide Roos said "hopefully we will see him play his best football" , so that will do me
-
The Crows have a presser on their website starting now
-
He didn't seem like, he was, had quite a few good chats to him, including a memorable one in Mitchell St in Darwin, a top top bloke, a decent human being, thoughts with his family

Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields

For all the 'young' players such as Toumpas, listen to what Roos says in his post agame presser I assume if we get everybody fit, if one of the young players isn't cutting it at AFL level, they will spend some time developing in VFL, he wants to see first The only concern I have, for the first few weeks, if Roos can't manufacture a working forward structure, we are shot -

Territory you will recognise quite easily, it is the group wearing hairshirts, hangdog expressions and a permanent rain cloud above... last year would have been easier, there were custom "I hate Schwab" t shirts on display....if you want to say hello.....small,l trendily dressed, slightly ageing gentleman with a real cool Beatles haircut and beard....trying to not let my urge to talk to the players whilst they are on the field take over..... -

A bit of optimism OD, a lot has changed, we have a few who have managed a full pre season, and even I admit a lot better coaching throught that period, and 4 important things have changed Vince, Cross, Tyson and Michie -
You can tell by my posts not a fan or rumour, innuendo, bulldust...if you want an answer.... ask....of course everybody can be lied to, just hope I can pick it up Ony time I am not is on here when I feel like a bit of entertainment The players know when they speak to me, I am actually interested in what they have to say but if they ask an opinion they get a straight answer, not interested in fawing on them ...as an aside my daughter says I don't do tact or empathy well though...probably part of being direct

Don't own a car, live in the Inner City, don't like the look of the driving skills on Melbourne roads, will probably take the train, back on topic, looking forward to how we set up forward now -
"It was only 2 days after his press conference at Luna Park. I wasn't rude or silly enough to directly ask him if he's going to stay, but I can contribute that he and the players are excited about the coming year" I asked directly, and what your gut is telling you is correct, as I put before, if he sees the light at the end of the tunnel and it's not the train, he will sign I get a lot of players talking to me because I am direct

Last time myself and lovely lady went to Casey, nearly drowned in mini cyclone, think the game was against Bulldogs, too busy looking for lifejacket to remember Been mulling for 3 days, involves 2k walk, hour on train, then bus and another 2k walk or taxi, and some complain about parking Now with the non available player issues it seems to perversely make it more interesting against a nearly full strength Hawks side -
Sorry to deflate your balloon old chap but Nathan Jones was considering a black jumper with a red sash before he resigned with MFC a couple of seasons ago.....you have a short memory....he is probably glad in a way he didn't go
-
Of course he is going to consider options, I had a good chat to him at the Family Day, he just wants to be able to taste a bit of success, if he thinks that will be with Melbourne he will stay

Cooney and Scully both supposedly have really serious degenerative knee injuries, they are suiting up again this year, there has been one heresay report about Dawes' knee Can we wait till we actually get facts rather than this speculation. As far as I know none of the posters on this board are in the medical game specialising in sports injuries and the treatment thereof, so therefore have absolutely no idea about the timerames and the hiccups that can happen along the way.......(apart maybe from personal experience, like myself, I wrecked my shoulder was told I would be fine in 3 months, it took me a year, an infection, an unfortunate accident during rehab etc etc) I am all for the cautious approach to injuries, besides which we have 40 odd players to pick from, the old cliche about giving somebody the opportunity
-
Is it a degenerative knee problem? The injury he sustained to his knee a couple of years ago was when it was bent sideways, didn't seem to hamper him before that in the premiership year If you listen to what Roos and Misson are actually saying is you are dealing with a 100kg+ plus bloke who was probably rushed back last year, which has caused a lot of problems with his soft tissues, they want to get it right, he played in the practice game and looked fine, just a bit of calf soreness, so let's rush him back again....NOT

Don't we have to ask permission from the AFL, for guys who haven't managed a decent run in the pre season, maybe that is why they sat Hunt and Jetta out from Alice Springs, assume we should see Salem as well -
Rather peeved if reports are correct as to length of time out, but it is not the end the world, we have a practice game coming up tomorrow where Roos can experiment with different looks and two weeks to get a forward structure in place and working together for the first couple of rounds I agree with the rest, we have already proved we can kick goals without a set forward structure in the practice games, I would be more concerned if the midfielders started to fall over
