  1. You should try speaking to JKH, he will not be sitting there for three quarters getting nervous, if he is sub, he will be analyings and looking at the St Kilda defensive structures, so if and when he gets on, he knows where the weak spot is....this is a kid who was co captain of the Oakleigh Chargers who knows he is good
  2. My quote won't work, Roh Bail told me he has been working with a guy with a terrible set shot, Jack Watts, to improve his set shots
  3. On Byrnes, my take is this, he is the most experienced, so he gets first crack, Roos has one player who can take his place as sub and two as emergencies, simple perform or else
  4. From training today, you will see I had Matt Jones in the 25, he's earned it, he was excellent today, speed on the outside, let's leave the vitriol about Bail, Pedersen, Spencer and Byrnes till after the game if it is warranted, JKH will be sub, so Byrnes knows perform or else, we have a new coach who will have given each player a specific role, if they don't do it, he,they and we know they won't be there next week, that is the only promise Roos has made
  5. Jamar was looking fine, seems to be still on a program, at one point left main field to run a lap or two around another, he was very pleased with his GPS figures after speaking to the guy monitoring, so barring anything unforseen, I would say another week or two
  6. Toumpas is fine, his workrate is excellent,
  7. There is nothing wrong with Salem's running Just main difference I can see personal opinion, Salem reads the play, knows where to go and then uses his kicking Toumpas works and works making position Two completely different type of players....In the future Pendlebury (Salem) Swan (Toumpas) If that makes sense
  8. They actually don't compare, Toumpas gut runs, Salem uses his kicking, I am surprised at how quickly Salem is developing physically On physical things one of the most impressive things was Jayden Hunt gut running flat out for about 100 metres with Tommy Mc trying to keep up, he ended up about a metre and half behind
  9. I went this mornning Jordie McKenzie trained before the main group for about 45 minutes and then left, didn't seem restricted, ran, kicked, jumped etc Main group arrived at 10:30 and went till about 12:40 Most of the drills have been seen before, all about match simulation, running, leading, kicking etc, Roos had them in to talk at tleast half a dozen times, great to see Towards the end the rucks Jamar, Fitzy, Gawn, King and Spencer did some separate work with Greg Stafford for about 15 minutes, after George Stone had had the midfield group; demonstrating where to stand etc with the aid of witches' hats etc, it was good to watch him teaching Previous to that Spencer's session had conisted of sitting on the fence talking to a trainer and lying on the ground for 15 mintures, gods knows what a St Kilda spy if they were watching would have made of that Dawes and Hogan were no shows, everybody else seemed to be in attendance To show that players, who are supposedly shielded from the media/forum comments etc, actually know what is thought of them, Jack Trengove was in brigh fluro orange boots, I said they looked frightening, his answer "I have to look as if I am fast" Had a good chat to Jack Viney, suggested he wear a helmet, said this concussion was not his fault, had his arms pinned and hit his head on the ground, had to have a light week, no contact, because it was his second concussion of the pre season, tests he had to take were even more stringent, says he is about 2 weeks behind most of the squad in fitness and preparation, asked about the thought of him playing with Aiden Riley in the middle for Casey as he catches up, you can guess the answer. Another who loves Roos, respects that because he is young, Roos wants him to fight to earn his place in the team Spoke to Christian Salem, about Manchester United, Olympiakos, Arsenal and Everton...refreshing.....then watched him kick...it is a thing of beauty Asked Dom Tyson to get 30 touches on Saturday, Fitzy had said 35, said he was glad to know he was under no pressure to perform From what I can see/guess/surmise the 25 will be in no particular order Frawley, McDonald, Grimes, Georgiou, Terlich, Dunn, Nicholson, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Nathan Jones, Matt Jones, Howe, Fitzpatrick, Pedersen, Watts, Toumpas, Trengove, Byrnes, Michie, Bail, JKH, Blease, Evans, McKenzie/Kent Any questions feel free to ask.
  10. Set up gmail mailbox specifically, it is easy Back on topic I like the emblem, because it is an emblem, like what they have done with the training tops as well Think the demon should be restricted to streetwear you can buy, it's a mascot
  11. I think you are misreading what myself and some others are posting, all the names mentioned have all had some terrible periods with their goalkicking, Fitzy is 18 goals from 14 games, natural footballer, he is a 200cm very agile guy who can run like the wind, if he can get a consistent run and the rest of the team learn to kick so he can run onto it, no down at his feet etc, he will be fine, with a few extra kgs he is even beginning to pack mark
  12. Oh well, that's Tom Hawkins, Travis Cloke and Nick Riewoldt out of the picture
  13. (Actually Anathema are on at the Corner Hotel on 23rd August, people should check them out)...back on topic, don't mind another topic and a bit of love for Bernie, believe there were issues at Adelaide in his last couple of years, game plan changed which sort of froze him out, reckon he has point to prove, same as Cross (who I believe is a bit [censored] with the Age journalist who said he is 'eking out another year at Melbourne")
  14. Spoke yesterday, send an email to [email protected], they know what you want re the photos Also Jesse Hogan is now dressed properly, the rest will folllow soon, it's on a long list, I know it's long I saw it
  15. Agreed, but we have so many experts on here, here is a puzzler for them, how did JKH, who we are all salivating over, and was a co captain at the Oakleigh Chargers, slip through to us at 40? From what I have seen of the drafts since the early 90's you should get a quality player if they are top 10, not a guarantee, 11-30 good solid soldiers, 31 onwards could be anything
  16. This is not an excuse but I know the media guys, the website is a work in progress, everything was progressing well, but we had Dean Bailey's passing and then the Commencement Dinner, needing to provide content for the website, if it didn't appear there would be whinges about that The Club is always looking for volunteers to assist in any capacity, if you are a web gun give them a bell There is also the approvals required for web content, explained it last year as well, some of the constraints/rules etc I am sure given time the photos will get updated
  17. Actually this thread/topic is one of the better one's lately, a rather "courageous" assertion followed by some serious discussion and a bit of humour, not a skerrick of vitriol to be seen
  18. Chap, nobody is doubting Juice's talents, watched him tear it up in the VFL quite a few times, but the one thing they harp on about at AFL is consistency, even a mercurial talent like Lewis Jetta knows he has to do the 1 percenters etc and perform each week, this was Juice's problem, he reminds me of Waite at Carlton, can take some freakish grabs and then go missing or have a brain fade, I am staggered Carlton have put up with him for so long
  19. anyone else care to dig up any other comtemporary Melb forward that can compare??......dig up!, gee I thought a prerequisite was at least breathing...we are not that desperate yet are we?
  20. Don't forget Danny Hughes, we could give him another crack, believe he is at Port this year, could cast an eye at praccy game this weekend at Casey, of course Brad Miller is still looking trim and terrific (playing coach) and saw Robbo at training the other day, if we can convince him to put the microphone down...
  21. Got it in one, from what I have been told and heard, believe he has given footy away, not even playing locally
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTJQuEAf2CU his nickname, as told to me by Josh Mahoney is "Pigdog" , Josh knows I watch Casey games told me to watch Aiden rattle a few ribs if I get the chance
  23. I spoke to Aiden at training the other day, he is being primed for the VFL round 1 which is just over 3 weeks away, so not a while, and from what I have read/seen/heard etc about him he will be knocking on the door sooner rather than later
  24. Exactly why he will in opinion be used as sub, bring him on for what you have highlighted in the last quarter and a bit. Although I am not on match committee so I may be completely wrong I take it you are basing your opinion on the 1 game at Richmond, let's put another young guy on a pedestal ready to knock him off I watched JKH as a junior and was very pleased when we signed him, in fact went as far as complimenting Jason Taylor in person and saying we made the better choice instead of Dayle Garlett, but I don't want to see another young player buried under the weight of expectation, happened too often in the past, in Roos I trust whatever decision he makes
  25. If Roos plays JKH I reckon it will be as sub
