An Essendon and GWS grand final would be unwatchable. In fact I think if GWS make a grand final everybody should boycott it and protest outside AFL HQ. It is time for them to stop meddling with the game, and time for people to let them know it. They got away with it this year and seem to have muffled the media on the subject but the centre of gravity of this issue will change eventual. The GWS concessions have been way too far over the top - I mean the mini-draft - come on....

2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Left Foot Snap replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm still looking forward to it. I usually find the later picks more intriguing anyway. Never know who is going to pop up. Also looking forward to some uncut gems from the rookie draft. You know, the Jace Bode, Jayden Hunt, Tom McDonald, Josh Tynan and Davis types. Some make it and its great - but if they don't it doesn't break your heart like a Cook or Gysberts. -

Are you Titus O'Reilly? -
Easily the Worst AFL Draft Preview Ever

'The Bombers will be thrilled if McGrath is still available at pick 1.' Love Titus and that first line made my morning. Thanks Jack -
That, and you have to contract a new draftee for two years. Rookies can be delisted after one year. When your picks a so low I think it is a good use of the rookie list.
-
I would Rookie Fitzy for insurance. Only needs to be for year. Worst case he plays CHB for Casey.

After my rant in the Oscar McInerney thread I thought I better back it up here as well. Does anyone want to provide any insights on why they think Cameron wasn't picked up in his draft year, even as a rookie?
-
Quoting this part to keep relevance to the thread. I don't have anything to add except that I am interested in hearing details and information about young Oscar (and any potential young Ruck/fwd prospects as I see it as need we have to address this draft). I would hate to see this thread derailed into pages of Saty bashing and wall p-ssing like as so many do. AAC, Penant St Dee, and anyone else with info please continue to feed us insights on players as I come to these threads because I am interested.

Well the Swans have 46 - so here is hoping they are not in the hunt - for the sake of AAC's blood pressure.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - PATRICK MCKENNA

How long have you been waiting to drop that gem? -
True. But they have 34 and then a pick in the 50s so good for us unless they rate him enough to take at 34. All assuming we are interested of course.

Interesting!!!

The advantage of elevating and using the rookie draft instead of the really high draft picks to complete the list is that you can get rid of a rookie after one year. A Nat Draft pick has to retained for 2. I think Wagner has shown enough to suggest he could be worth a 2 yr contract as opposed to a highly speculative pick. White I am not so sure of. I would probably retain for another year as a rookie.
-
I thought West Coast got him for pick 88.

How about Tom Scully. Scull is a type of boat - Knife is pretty self explanatory

Great, not another bl--dy Jack Watts thread (on a serious note - couldn't be happier for the boy and hope his improvement continues)

I really don't have a good feeling about the salary caps at those 2 (and other) clubs. I smell a rat and have a feeling in my bones that it will be a story in the future. I think, and it is only my thoughts, that they have found a loophole in the system. I don't buy that so many senior players have taken pay cuts at Hawthorn for example. Its a nice story but I think its more likely that they have been switched to alternate payment methods. You wouldn't do that with a new recruit, only those you know and trust ie: players that have been in the club for a while. It reminds me of years ago when a Richmond player took the club to task after his promised 'no loose investments" didn't return what they where meant to and they where used as part of the agreement to him to sign.
-
I would like to see him move into the midfield. I think that is his position and he will flourish with a greater workload and responsibility.
-
Makes me happy, I would keep him anyway. He offers a lot more cover and versatility to us than the paltry return we would get for him. And lets not forget how well he plays in a contract renewal year. Why waste that :).

That is a big celery.

I agree, something doesn't smell right.

Harsh. You made me spill my chamomile tea.....

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?

Agree DD. Viney oozes leadership. I have ever seen him speak where I doubted his intelligence. We should never confuse drive and single mindness with simple minded. Jack is not simple. He is focussed. When you lead your message doesn't have to be complex. It needs to be uderstood. As Jack gets older he will naturally speak with more wisdom, but he will already have his teammates following him.
