Please move Garland back forward.

We have a team full of footballing morons. How can you have the ball in your hands, look inside 50 and decide that bombing it to Magner is a good option? How about having a bit of composure FFS!!!!!!

I am pretty sure Gysberts back a couple of weeks longer than Jetta, and he had a broken jaw, which should not have limitedhim in terms of fitness and skill work. Also, I think it is widely accepted around this place that our midfield sucks, so nobody can tell me that trying Gysberts would not be a reasonable option. We get smashed in the middle every week. For the record. Casey in a win over Sandy. Best Players: E. Panozza, J. Gysberts, J. Strauss, S. Martin, R. Plummer, T. Smith

I can't really wear "He was in the bests last week" line of argument. Davis was also. Morton the week before, and I am pretty sure Gysberts was a couple of weeks ago and Cook has been in the bests this year. Those guys didn't get promoted back into the team. If Jetta had of been picked for a game in Melbourne this week, I still would have benn questioning the decision to promote him so quickly, however, I probably would not have had such a slanted view on it.
-
Not quite sure what you didn't get. I was asking if I was being cynical by thinking that if this game wasn't being played in Darwin and it was at the MCG or AAMI, would Jetta have been picked? Some people will get on here and probably label me a racist, or some BS like that, but there wil be many more who will probably be thinking along similar lines. I wanted to know if anyone thought his VFL form warranted selection?
-
We are playing games up in Darwin and visiting rural indigenous communties during the week in the build up to the game, and we have previously had a strong aboriginal presence in our team with the likes of Jurrah and Davey. This year I was thinking today that we would have none, however, Jetta has been picked. Now I am reading Matt Burgan on the clubs website that the reason Gysberts can't get a game is due to the amount of the season he has missed, yet Jetta gets the nod. I think it is a legitimate question.
-
Maybe someone who has seen him play in the VFL can tell us if his form is warranted, but I thought the new regime had brought in a culture of earning games. It would be disapponting to me (and possibly to leapfrogged team mates) if a game was handed out as a symbolic gesture.

Does Jetta get a game this week if the game wasn't in Darwin?
-
So having rotations down stop your ability to get your hands on the ball at a stoppage does it? Our midfield sucks, and the fact that so does Freo's and we got pantsed by them in the last 40 mins of the game, doesn't sit well with me. So, if it helps you feel better by using a couple of injuries as an excuse for the loss, then so be it.
-
I am suprised by the love of our team on Demonland. If we ever want to be a decent team( or club), or a respected one, we wouldn't accept injuries and rotations for a 9-0 goal rout to end a game. We would stand up and fight. We don't though, we just find excuses.

On the radar (afl.com) - under 18's prospects

I liked the look of Kennedy. Hopefully he is still on the board at 13. -
Which is worse: our skills or decision making?
Jerry Lundergard replied to pitmaster's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hard to split them. I couldn't believe that we had players on our team yesterday that thought a bomb down the line to Magner was a good option. WTF? However, the number of times we should have been out into to open space with an overlap and we were unable to deliver the ball with precsion was deplorable. -
Spot on. When we were actually able to win it out of the middle effectively yesterday, we could score. It didn't matter who was in our forward line. Problem is we rarely win it cleanly out of any stoppages. Why can other teams handball out of traffic to an unmanned player hanging of the pack and then they are away, yet we can't? It's a question I bring up weekly that I have no anwser to. Some want to blame Royal, but I would prefer to just assume they we have the worst midfield in the league. I believed that before the season started, and I still do now.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15
Jerry Lundergard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jones has just firmed into $1.01 to win the Bluey. -
It's woth noting that it was an extra home game for the Tigers as well. They also have about 50,000 members and are challenging for the 8. We have 2 wins for the year and play disgustingly stupid, pathetic football. I wonder why I go myself most weeks, as it is quite a stressful experience watching us play. I would hate to be Neeld.
-
Offensive in a clearance sense, like Priddis. He has good hands and can find the footy. I don't see any of our other mids consistently clearing the ball.
-
Any chance Neeld can give a few games to Jordie where he tells him to be an offensive weapon and go and hunt the ball? He had 9 clearances on the weekend whilst playing a tagging role and currently sits behing Jones and Beamer for clearances on the season. I would like to see what he could do if he was allowed to play as solely a clearance player hunting the footy. There is no reason why either of our Captain Jacks can't be given Jordies role, it may actually take Trenners to the ball a bit more, and he is supposed to have a big tank to stay with an elite midfielder. Am I talking rubbish, or is it worth a try? Our midfield can't get much worse, we may as well try some new approaches.
-
What a disgraceful quarter. Players dropping their heads. Pathetic skills and no accountability. Brisbane just get that ball to the outside as all our mids get sucked into the ball and contest, and then they just march it down the field with barely a fingernail being layed on them.
-
I am cringing everytime the ball gets outside a pack, you can just smell a Lions goal. We are getting murdered in transition.
-
I reckon Nicholson has been pretty good.
-
Not often that all the favourites get up across the whole round. That essentially leaves us and North. Not sure why, but I have a good feeling we are going to pull off a massive upset with the outs we have.
-
Those maggot Pies supporters who were giving it to Jack Watts when Swan kicked that goal on him in the last quarter, should go back and watch the QBD game when the Ooze kicked 5 on Dane Swan in a quarter. Must be close to the last time we have won on QBD as well.
-
One of my biggest hates about our midfield is what you have mentioned here. I have noticed twice in the 4th quarters in the last 2 games that Grimes has had a clearance while running at full tilt when roving the ball and getting a clean takeaway from the stoppage. This is completely foreign to almost anything we have served up all year, and I can't understand why we can't get this to happen more often. If Jamar is winning the hitouts, why aren't our midfielders getting to the ball on the move and clearing it? Is it a communication issue? Jamar fault? The lack of blocking from our midfielders? or a combination of all?
-
It's interesting that everyone has spoken about Rivers going forward to provide another option there, when in fact I think he was put there because the Pies were exposing him in the backline (again), by using his man as an outlet on the wing when moving the ball from defense. Unfortunately, as Riv can't play on their gorillas(as we saw last year) and doesn't have the speed or the tank to chase a mid to smalll forward up to the wing he was a liability back there. That was good coaching by Bucks, but also a tick to Neeld to make a positive move and push Riv forward for us as well. I am not condemning Rivers useless, because he has been fantastic for us this year, but I would do this every week if I were opposing coaches. If we had some half forwards with the work ethic of the likes of some of the Pies(Goldsack, etc), then maybe we could have exposed the likes of a Maxwell in the same manner. Anyone disagree with this?
-
The reason for this is that we have most of our midfielders trying to stop the other teams. Who is actually trying to win the ball? Jones maybe. Do you think the likes of Swan, Thomas, Beams and Sidebottom are spending all their juice trying to stop McKenzie, Magner, Morton and Moloney? Or do they just get in and win the ball? Our midfield is putrid. Whenn the game was still slightly in the balance at the start of the 4th quarter, 3 clearances to the Pies in 3 minutes for 3 goals. Game over.
