  1. Yeah and I think that all bodes well for Freeman, he is physically built, has athleticism, sounds explosive and from all reports is a competitive animal, it does sound good. He tested well and his form has to be there about, otherwise he simply wouldn't be spoken of so highly. With so many X factor kids coming into the fray since the combine in Klod and Bomp, I think one thing Freeman has that appeals is that he is well built and has that X factor as well and that counts for a lot, because this is a pick we NEED to get right. It will come down to who is there at 9, if Billings is there, he will be hard to overlook, but if the club do overlook him, then I trust their judgement, as Billings trained with us last year, so at least we'd have got a real good look at the kid.... I think young Viney and young Hogan's input would be valuable, they know these kids really well.
  2. My old man lives in WA, watches WAFL and thinks Michie is already there. Reckons the kid is a go-getter and is highly rated in WA, obviously he isn't that well known in Vic. Can play, will play.
  3. From what little I've seen of Tyson, I'd agree. Just the way he moves in and out of traffic, he is exactly what we need. I chatted to a mate who thought Tyson was more impressive as a junior - than anyone this year. Dom Tyson appears to be a steal for us.
  4. Here is the thing, Freeman sounds good to all of us, but not many of us have actually seen much of him. I assume he played in the champs, I didn't see much of him. He does sound good, as do most of these kids coming into the fray now. As good as Knightmare and Chris 25 are, I'd love to hear more from AFL scouts - but they simply don't want to give anything away at this point.
  5. That is a good point.
  6. The longer it goes on, the more it looks like a masterstroke trading pick 2. Outside of Boyd, this draft is dead even till pick 10. The players that were marked to go at 2 - Aish and Kelly - are too lightly framed for us anyway. Not only that, there is nothing splitting them from a handful of players. The more people debate their way through the top ten, the better our trade looks. I can't split 2 from 9, I could have Kelly at 2, Aish at 2 - yet then make a case that Klod, Sheed, Freeman, Billings or Sharenberg could be picked there.
  7. He is very good and Kolodjashnij is definitely the kid for that role. Salem could perhaps do the same - but with more strings to his bow in regards to hardness, Salem is inside/outside and a great tackler, disposer of the football. The thing with Kolodjashnij, is do we want a quarterback for 9 and do we think he is limited to that role. If we see him elsewhere going forward, then take him, his on field results are there, his combine results are there and his improvement rate over the past year is up there.
  8. With a good side, neither would be anywhere near the centre square, they have not done enough. Viney had far more impact in his first year than Trenners had in the centre this year. Trengove has to lift notches next year to even get a gig in the centre.
  9. If Billings is there, then I think he is too good not to take. Be interesting if Kade Kolodjashnij was available as well. The rate of improvement of this kid the past couple of years, he has MASSIVE upside. Not only that, but he also has the form and combine results, sounds like he'll be gone by 9.
  10. Yeah, It will be a hard toss up if Crouch and Billings are available.
  11. Sheed embarrassed Vic Country, made their whole midfield look second rate. It's just a shame that he done his collarbone, we would've learned a lot more than we currently know about Dom. The year before Ollie Wines dominated the champs, this year it was Sheed.
  12. I agree, hit up Buntine whilst we are at it, he'll be better than Bugg. Buntine has been injured, he has a natural inside game, he'd be a dream PSD addition.
  13. Sticks in my mind watching Vince play in the SANFL last year. They dropped him back for disciplinary reasons and he punished the SANFL. Bernie's ability to rack up the ball the day I watched him in the SANFL, I thought this guy is footballers footballer. Bernie has the ability to rival Jones as a key midfielder, hopefully he can get close. Don't worry about pick 23, worry about our midfield next year and the year after, because if it's not up to it - what do we tell young Jesse? It's up to the MFC to start producing and showing players that we are the club they should be sticking with. Frawley and Hogan are our two main worries and we can't afford to bank on a kid at 23, we don't have that luxury.
  14. No doubting Franklin is a brilliant player with skills not seen in players that size - perhaps ever. But for all the skills, for all the hype - he falls short in performance... Not short for most players, but falls short for what he is built up to be. Roughead had a better year than Franklin, yet he gets barely as many props, because he isn't as dynamic. Buddy is a brand, they build him up to be the AFL's version of Jordan - and as dynamic as Franklin can be, he isn't dynamic very often. Sydney bought a brand and a very talented footballer, but as far as Hawthorn go, his performances this year weren't what they are built up to be. I wouldn't of had Buddy anywhere near my top 50 and if his name wasn't Buddy, he'd of been no where near the AA 40 player squad.
  15. I wonder if we'll look at Taylor Adams with 9. We could back ourselves in now we have Tyson aboard.
  16. So, did the MFC receive better compo for Scully and Geelong better for Ablett jr, than what Hawthorn have received for Franklin? Either way, Buddy Franklin is a bigger brand player than he is a footballer. In terms of hype and delivery, he falls short. This is what annoys me about this generation of fans, they get caught up in hype.
  17. Spot on, I give Chris Dawes one thing though, on or off the field - he is worth his weight in gold, that pick was well spent. Dawes would be our best leader and he is exactly the type of bloke we need at the MFC, throw him the VC.
  18. Either way you look at it, there will be a steal at 9. I don't think there is much between 2 and 9. Some I speak to would take Kelly hands down at 2, some would take Aish. Others think Taylor is the classiest kid in the draft. Either way, it all bodes well for us at 9.... Especially with kolodjashni appearing to be really firming for top 6 after the combine. And then there is Dom Sheed, who made most of these kids look second rate on the biggest stage of all.
  19. I haven't seen Dom Tyson play at all myself, but I've seen enough of Dom Sheed to say that he is the closest thing to Simon Black I've seen come through the system. And... Both Sheed and Tyson are exactly what is needed at the MFC. Many good youngsters will be there at 9, hopefully Sheed is one of them.
  20. I'd expect Taylor to go top 7. If not, then throw him in the mix at 9.
  21. Boyd, Aish, Kelly, Sharenberg and McDonald are all locks before out pick. Then there is a host of names that could be available for us. Billings, Freeman, Crouch, Sheed, Taylor. You could make a case for Freeman, Crouch, Sheed or Billings going at 2. Was a good trade.
  22. Simon Black was the comparison I got off a friend of mine who I spoke to.
  23. Yeah the kid has ice in his veins.
  24. Add Taylor to that list, he will definitely go top 10.
  25. I don't think there is much difference between pick 2 and pick 9. We upgrade from pick 20, which was a pick that will probably blow out to 25 after compo. Pick 9 gets in before any compo picks and apart from Boyd - there is very little splitting the top 10. We have 2 bites at the cherry to get an elite mid, we have Dom Tyson and whoever is there at 9. Be happy bud.
