Good point you raise there @deanox

Trump v. Biden
Regardless of whatever side of the political spectrum you may personally lean to, both 70-year old candidates should be congratulated on maintaining an election for several days.

Harmes going into the midfield against Brisbane was instrumental to our late comeback in that game.

Contracted through to the end of 2022 according to @Lucifer's Hero's latest update. Agree that he's an important part of out spine moving forward. However with B.Brown, Weideman and Jackson as our KPF stocks I think Petty slots in as a KPB.

Well played @chook fowler, not many footy forums can boast the linguistic magnificence of Demonland.

Geelong’s continued assistance from state, federal, and local govt
This is no joke, I was in a meeting with a Labour powerbroker a few years back. He apologised as he had to take a call from the State Premier. The upshot of the call was that that funds were being allocated not to healthcare (as the powerbroker wanted) but instead to Kardinia Park redevelopment. The powerbroker challenged the Premier "How the F is that going to help the health of people in Geelong?", Premier's response "Mate, there's no votes in health".The powerbroker's response to that comment is unprintable.

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
From our perspective may need the trade assets (picks) for other prioritised targets and/or it could be a salary cap issue (either now or the implications for next year when several key contracts come up for renewal). For Hawthorn it's a neat fit, I.Smith out and T.Phillips in.

The Andrew Phillips Thread
Was against trading in McKernan as a "break glass in case of emergency" option because I don't see him as being a significantly material upgrade on making do with Tomlinson or Weideman. Whilst not wildly excited by Phillips, I do see him as a more suitable short-term insurance option for the genuine ruck position.

Brad Hardie?

Yes @MadAsHell, had the same thoughts.

On face value it looks disappointing. However, will reserve judgement until the trade period is completed.

Okay as long as he comes cheap in terms of pick / DFA / Rookie list, and contract value. Buys us some time to develop Bradtke and determine his long-term prospects.

A triple win for them, Ugle-Hagan, Hannan, and the Insurance payout.

That would mean we'd actually achieved the kind of 'bistro-math' / 'multiple mid-tier players packaged and converted into a top 10 pick' that many Demonland posters have often dreamed of.

The 'grunt' type of midfielder that Essendon has needed for a couple of years now.

Farewell Braydon Preuss
There was that, and some other personal issues at the time that meant a change of state, both physical and mental, was a good idea too. Thanks for the update @Unleash Hell, keen to see what happens.

Using the AFL Draft Points Index as guide: Pick 14 = 1,161 Points Pick 25 = 756 Points 405 points differential equates to ~ pick 41 That doesn't seem unreasonable for a player the Dogs have targeted.
