  1. Some perspective. At round 15 we played 10 22 years old or under. I have not not been surprised at all by our slump. We need all our guns available in top form. No need to say anything else about this. North 8, GC 9, Dee's 10. At the lower end we have Cats 4, Blues, Swans, Don's, Lions and WCE 5. North and GC have had heaps of early draft picks in recent years so access to silk. Surprisingly our recruiters have done well. We will know how well in the next couple of years.
  2. Yep, just wait until he fills out. He will be huge.
  3. We were ordinary but for perspective we played 6 young players tonight (I include JVR). We are in effect in a mini rebuild or list refresh. We probably will finish bottom 6 or 7.
  4. Great to see Kynan selected. He has been very good in his 1st season of VFL. Quick and evasive and reads the play well. He sets up play, has goal involvements and kicks a few himself. IMO eventually his ability to read the play will see him excel as a mid. As a forward if the oppo take their eye off him they will pay. His form this year surprised me. I thought a couple more preseasons would get him right for the big time but if you have what it takes then you get rewarded.
  5. All the best in recovery Christian, No thuggery against maggies. We do not want suspensions for round 1 next year. Given no pre season for Clarry, Gus gone, Tracc out for year our midfield looks shot. Viney looks like he might have a minor calf issue. Time to play ANB mid with Sestan on a flank (he does not have ANBs tank though) and bring in Tholstrup for mid/forward duties. Also i think we will see young Brown play a few games this year as a forward/mid. He reads the play well and has pace and evasive skills.
  6. Every year we have had a few games where we look slow, flat and uncoordinated. This year we have player availability issues and we have a number of inexperienced players in the team. A slump was always going to happen. With Tracc out I think we will struggle for the rest of the season. It was obvious from tge start of the season that we were undergoing a list/team refresh.
  7. Luker looks like he could fill out and be Darling body size. Has broad shoulders. Definetly worth perservering with Luker.

We were always going to slump at some point. No preseason for Oliver and Petty. Brayshaw retires, Smith gone, Melksham ACL. Plenty of young inexperience: JVR 31 games, Windsor 13, Laurie 9, Howes 11, Turner 8. Chandler 46 games struggling. Billings not the answer. Tholstrup, Sestan and K Brown need to get games this year. Casey performances warrant it. Need to look at Free agents that will make a difference. Draft well this year. Given that we will likely get Kalani White next year i would consider trading 2025's 1st rounder back into 2024 draft.
  9. Our depth is not is strong as we thought. Most premiership have good runs with player availability. Brayshaw retired, Oliver and Petty no pre season, Smith out, Melksham knee. And now Tracc out. JVR 31 GAMES, McVee 38, Windsor 13, Laurie 9, Howes 11, Turner 8. Not a lot of experience. Chandler, 46 games has not set the world on fire. Billings just a fill in. McAdam hardly ever on the park at the Crows. A slump was always going to happen. We need to get some games into Tholstrup, Sestan and Brown to see what they can offer If we want to stay in the window we need to get a decent free agent in and then recruit wisely via the draft. We may not make the 8.
  10. All the very best for a speedy recovery Tracc, cheers
  11. JVR and Windsor - our shining lights Both were ok today. It was our experienced players (except Gawn and ANB) that farted and fumbled.
  12. Just saw the team email. Kynan is a carry over emergency.
  13. Was Kynan Brown out injured or the carry over player for tomorrow?
  14. Looks like he has the potential to develop a strong AFL body. Has big shoulders. He may well develop into a good player. Clubs are going for the 195 to 200 cm KP's. This may be one reason he was overlooked in last years draft. A bit like when smaller mids were overlooked in favour of the bigger types. Some bargains were had with some overlooked smaller type mids. The 193cm JVR looks way smaller than some of his KPD opponents. But power, strength, skill and ability more than makes up for size.

Thanks, Jadyn was unlucky to be injured at the wrong time in 2021. Otherwise could have been a premiership player. If AMW is as good as Jadyn i think we should find a spot for him before the end of this season. See how he goes.

Ok, AMW has been in cracking 'ball magnet' form for Casey. No argument about that. If AMW is not ready for AFL selection can some one 'in the know' or is a regular Casey Watcher please let us know what areas he lacks in, eg Disposal, speed, awareness, team orientated, defensive skills, tends to lose 1 on one's etc, strenght over ball etc.
  17. Maybe late this season if his VFL form holds up he will get a game to see how he goes and he can get an understanding of what he needs to do over the preseason to tackle 2025.
  18. If we want a mid gun we either need a top 5 pick or lure one to the club via FA or trade.
  19. Our elite players have not lost their ability. Hopefully it was just the worst day. It's easy to think we will fall off a cliff but that is unlikely. The Number of inexperienced players in the team makes us vulnerable to a bad day. We have quietly been refreshing the team. The loss of Brayshaw and Melksham in career best form has been understated. We have a young few players at Casey with serious potential. Not sure whether they will become very good or elite. Tholstrup, AMW, Jeffo, Brown,Sestan. We need to recruit an elite FA.
  20. Those bagging the Luker Kentfield selection just got a big clip across the ears after seeing the gaping hole in the forward line the relatively inexperienced JVR creates when he is out. Our 'hand to hand' combative style of footy requires AFL big build ultra competitive bigs up forward. Luker fits the category. Skinny kids need not apply. Luker may or may not make it but Einstien defined insanity as doing the same things over and over expecting a different result. We have problems up forward and going for mids over and over ..... well Einstien nailed it. You just have to mix it up. We have recruited well from WA in recent years which indicates we have exceptionally good scouts over there. No doubt they have recommended Luker to JT. Luker potentially fills a hole after BB and Schache finish up season end.
  21. Good pick given BBB and Schache have not got much left. Petty has been injury prone so Luker worth a punt. We have a good development team so let's see how he goes at Casey and with a good preseason he may get a go next season.
  22. From Copilot search (from 2023 football): Luker Kentfield is an exciting young talent in Australian Rules Football (AFL). Let me share some details about him: Height: Luker stands tall at 194 cm. Weight: He weighs 93 kg. Age: At just 19 years old, he’s already making waves. Club: Luker hails from the Carine Junior Football Club. League: He plays in the Northern Conference of the WAFL (West Australian Football League). Luker’s playing style combines versatility and strength. Here are some key points about him: Position: He’s a ruck-forward, which means he can dominate both in the air and around the goals. Experience: Despite flying under the radar, Luker has notable senior experience. He turned out for Subiaco’s League side in 10 games this year. He also earned a call-up to the state Under 18 side for three appearances. Strengths: Aerial Ability: Luker excels in marking contests. Contested Marking: He’s strong in one-on-one situations. Conversion: When opportunities arise, he’s a reliable goal kicker. Strength: His readymade frame allows him to hold his own against mature bodies. While Luker has performed well in the WAFL’s top flight, the transition to AFL level will pose new challenges. Taller and more athletic opponents await, but his potential is undeniable. In terms of stats, Luker averaged just six disposals, three marks, and less than a goal per game. However, his standout senior effort yielded four goals from eight touches and four marks. Keep an eye on Luker Kentfield – he’s a rising star with plenty of promise! 🌟 ^(Source: WAFL)^(Source: Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central)
  23. AMW has been in sizzling VFL form. 33 disposals against the Zebras, 28 the Lions the weeks before, 19 against the Blues and 30 the week earlier. A few more of these and he will be seriously knocking on the door for a go at AFL level - if not already. Although I think the coaches will want to see an extended block of sizzling VFL form. Have to give AMZ a pat on the back for his application to the task. Keep it up.
  24. AMW getting leather poisoning. What are his best strengths? Pace reading the play? Why is he not getting a go at AFL?
  25. We lost Brayshaw who is a gun and Smith who was handy player. This game we lost JVR and Langdon. Lever subbed off early. We have a lot of inexperienced players in the team. The list is being refreshed. The scene was set early for a WCE win. We have our core of guns still playing well. We need to lure another gun tall off-season.
