  1. Or use a powerful analogy like the Labor Party!
  2. Senagor you have hit the nail on the head but the detractors are still going to remain because they need a scapegoat and who better than a public schoolboy like Watts? (Although this is never bought up in relation to Dawes, Salem and Hunt who went to the same school!) Every time Nic Nat plays a good game, the same people emerge slamming our recruiters for picking Watts yet they remain silent whenever Nic Nat plays a bad game. Nonetheless last year NicNat came ninth in WC's B&F count and Watts came tenth in ours, suggesting that their respective teams rate them on a par at least. This year I suspect that both players will rate similarly or maybe Watts might even reverse their positions.
  3. In another part of infallible logic, we never win on the rare occasions when Garry Lyon tips us. True to form, he has tipped against us this round giving us a strong chance!
  4. I for one am hoping that both Petracca and Trengove both significantly boost our midfield next year. Hopefully they are cherry ripe to complete the full pre-season!
  5. 6. Hogan 5. Dawes 4. Viney 3. Tyson 2. Gawn 1. Howe
  6. Neither M. Jones nor Mitchie were able to kick a goal from a set shot 20-30 metres out. If they were capable our first quarter would not have been so deplorable!
  7. I am still staggered that Jamar was named on the extended interchange instead of Fitzy. Of all teams, we should have an extra tall backman against North, particulaly one that can help Gawn in the ruck.
  8. Frankly I would rather have seen Toump being re-promoted into the AFL before Michie (notwithstanding Michie's impressive Casey performances). Toump has been a bigger investment and represents more upside to our best (AFL) 22 long-term. I am looking forward to 2016 (already) when, the Toump, Salem and Petracca are all on fire!
  9. Compelling argument. Bring it on WADA!

    Round 23

How nice that they schedule the filth and the drug cheats at the "G" on the same day and the Hawks and the Blues at the "G" the day before. Lovely the way the AFL schedules us with a "home game" against GWS at Etihad, I don't think! The only redeeming feature is that GWS may not like playing there any more than us and it may be a chance for us to break the hoodoo. Still, at least we have won two significant "away games" this year in our win against the Cats at the Cattery followed up by our decisive away victory against the Pies last weekend!

  12. It should be our home as of rights! We started life as the Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club and then generously allowed some of the other Melbourne-based teams to play their home games there as well (Richmond, Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton and now Hawthorn). Now they have abused it and assume an entitlement when they play us on our home ground. And, as if this wasn't bad enough, the AFL makes us play a home game at Etihad, even on days when the MCG is free!
  13. What planet are you from sport? You are more biased than Ed, however your bias seems to stem from envy or insecurity. MCC members who go to home and away matches are as passionate and informed as any other members (and include many Demonlanders). There are few 'MCC members' who don't know Brayshaw or the Hulk, even the Collingwood supporters amongst them!
  14. Is it being broadcast at all and is there a link?
  15. We are on a roll this weekend! Now to make it a hat trick!
  16. Maybe he will follow in the steps of his old man by ditching the Pies and crossing over to US!
  17. We should have played Toumpas yesterday in stead of Michie!
  18. I also acknowledged the sub in my voting. Well done for upgraded rookie, Harmes for his first goal.
  19. Great game from the player I have always had faith in! Now we need to give Toumpas another chance in the ones instead of (say) Mitchie.
  20. We have improved particularly our ability to win away games.Last year it was Adelaide: this year it was Geelong at the Cattery and today we beat the Mighty Pies at their home ground!
  21. 6. Vince 5. Gawn 4. Watts 3. Jones 2. Viney 1 Harmes Hard to,overlook,Harmes,, coming on as a sub and scoring his first goal,in afl football
  22. We are a mile ahead if we get a priority draft pick from the AFL. With the first two draft picks injected into our team (hypothetically) we might win every game the following year by one point. I would be prepared to accept that! Further, one point margins suggest a contest each week which also would be a pleasant change!
  23. With seven posts in seven years you have been sparing in your views. Maybe some others could take a leaf out of your book!
  24. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have been in remote West Papua for the last fortnight and have only just now seen the results of the Brissie and Saints matches (via weak airport wifi). Looking at the AFL website, and seeing the Melbourne players achieved the top seven spots by number of disposals (Viney with 31), how on earth did theSaints nearly double our score? Can anybody explain it?
