Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]
CBDees replied to Dr evil's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sir Paul Roos, on 30 Sept 2014 - 01:49 AM, said: Yes and then it will be back onto the merry-go-round again! -
Maybe we can offer AFC a low pick and we can also offer Dangerfieild: a good salary package; the opportunity to be coached by Roos for the first two years; the chance to be coached by a respected former team-mate/all-Australian/AFC Captain in Goodwin after that the chance to play in the midfield with his old mate Bernie Vince (plus Riley] and playing in the same midield with Jones, Viney and Tyson.
-
At least getting Dangerfield will ensure that the cameras spend a bit of time directed to the MFC table on Brownlow Night!
-
It also ensure that Priority Picks for low ladder positions are dead for all time as it would be very difficult for the AFL to award one [to any Club] in the future after we missed out three year's in a row despite being eligible. This may play to our advantage however only if we regain our rightful position as a Victorian powerhouse!
-
Absolute disgrace. Especially as the recent picks we have had [courtesy of our low ladder position] have all been massively comprised by the two start-up teams GCSs and GWS who have enjoyed an outrageous plethora of selections.
-
i think that it was immediately befroe the Brownlow but irrespective it would be nice to not keep us hanging!
-
At least he has a dip and plays his guts out. There are other blokes to delist before him although like to see his skills on par with his effort.
-
Maybe swap Mitch Clark for Mitch Robinson? Leave Collingwood right out of it! (And I hope Malthouse bids for Moore forcing the Pies to use their 1st Round pick!)
-
Presuming that they are meeting on this right now, what time is the media announcement on our request?
-
Surely we would trade pick 2 so that they would be guaranteed of getting one of them? Anyway, I have complete faith in Roos and Viney to make the right call!

Why would they want someone like Jamar at the tail-end of his career? Better to offer them Spencer whilst we keep Gawn and Fitzy as back-up (and see if King makes something of himself)? -
Nice highlight! Not only does he know how to find the ball but he uses it very effectively!
-
Didn't watch much of the game but listening to the radio driving home he got a few [post-match] mentions in despatches.

Generally in agreement with your suggestions (including hanging on to Toumpas) but why are we trading out Fitzy to the Bulldogs for a 4th round pick and then not using it? Personally I would rather see Spencer traded out than Fitzy as I think that he is more versatile as a mobile forward/ruck than Spencer if you want to get rid of a tall. -
We can also offer Simon Goodwin as his coach which may also appeal. Further Essendon may prefer to deal with us considering we are near the bottom, rather than strengthen one of the other teams who may then proceed to displace them from contention the top the eight. Better to trade to someone that you don't consider a threat rather than somebody who is likely to use the asset effectively against you!

Might not be possible when Nathan Jones has justed posted on the Club website how much he enjoys sharing the captaincy with Grimes. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-09-19/jones-backs-cocaptaincy-for-2015

Why on earth would Hinkley fall for that? So as he can on-trade pick 2 to WCE for Cale Morton?

It seems that too many posters are clambering to offload Watts, Trengove and Toumpas as though Roos has no long-term plans for them. Personally i consider that all three are potential stars for the MFC and i suspect that Roos may share that view. How many other AFL Clubs have their supporters clambering to offload their No.s. 1, 2 & 3 draft picks, especiall ywhen one is a past (co)captain? -
Don't mind your scenario generally with the exception of Toumpas. I feel that both Toumpas and Trengove [who many here want to trade] should be retained at least until the end of next year as i suspect that both will wnd up long term gun players for the MFC under Roos. Apart from GWS how many other Clubs have their members clambering to trade off thier No. 2 and No. 3 draft picks?
-
It will if we trade pick 2 instead of 3. I would be happy if we ended up with Sheil and Brayshaw!
-
Maybe so that Adelaide could announce the sacking of their coach first? It certainly enhances our position going into the trade period, not only for people like Dangerfield but also others from Adelaide or Essendon, GWS etc. I wonder who Adelaide have up their sleeve? Ron Barassi?
-
Maybe Mitch and Chip may now want to reconsider jumping ship whilst it is still in dry-dock ready to launch itself for a premiership? I hope Dangerfield and the Homesick GWS star all watch the Press interview!
-
I like what he has had to say. He is happy for a long apprentiship and has signed a five-year contract. Year one as an assistant working with Roos, year two as a more senior role and years 3-5 as senior Coach. Goodwin is impressed by Melbourne's clear plan and looking forward to the role. Roos said that this was the plan when he extended the third year [so that he could have two years grooming Goodwin.] By all accounts, their philosophies are very close. I think that this is a great move for the Club, right up thier with Roos, Jackson and Tyson!

Interesting that Magner and Valenti were among the best players in Port's losing side last week and have been all year. I am not suggesting that bringing hardened midfielders from the VFL works as it obviously hasn't with us but I think that leg speed will prove that Michie is a different kettle of fish.

Seems that the Adelaide rumour is very strong especially with Fagan going there as well. Hopefully having Goodwin at Adelaide doesn't mean that Dangerfield and others are now tempted to stay!
