The thing that troubles me most about the mooted Clark, Varcoe, HL trade is that we are getting screwed unless Geelong don't throw in their first or second round pick to equalise things. Otherwise we might as well make the same offer (to trade MC) to Collingwood when we deal on HL. Personally, I am very tempted to call MC's bluff and tell him that he is more value to us as a Demon beyond 31 October and we will use our second pick in the PSD to retain his services!

The positive thing emerging out of this, if there is one, is that it has obviously caused a rethink on trades. I, for one, would be wrapped to see us draft Brayshaw and Petracca (or McCartin or Wright) and watch Roos, Goodwin and Stone turn them into the first generation (for some time) of elite Melbourne players and the basis of our next Premiership ( which hopefully Jones, Tyson and Trngove are also part of)!

Assuming Boyd doesn't go to the Doggies meaning GWS would take Wright as the nearest equivalent!

I'd be happy with either scenario (though slightly attracted to B&P developed into two superstars by Roos!

Puts them ahead of us for Cockatoo if we use 12 in the draft instead of trading. He is an exciting talent in my book and also has a bit of size about him.

As far as the perennial Nic Natanui comparisons go, both players boasted very similar positions in their respective Club's B&F counts!

Personally if we are trading our Jacks out of the Club, I would rather see co-captain Jack Grimes as the first to be traded. To me, both Watts and Trengove have too much latent potential which I would hate to see emerge at another Club.p.s. Jack Fitzpatrick is other Jack with a big upside who fits into the same category.

So effectively Richmond exchange Conca for Trengove and improve their draft place by one!

That would complicate things somewhat unless we ditched talking with Geelong and offered Mitch to the Pies as a straight swap!

As l understand (from the Age) that Geelong may be getting pick 21 from Brisbane for Christianson, maybe we should be demanding that when we send send MC to Geelong as part of the complex multi-club that secures us HL from Collingwood? Otherwise why not merely swap MC to Collingwood for HL ( if Geelong is not prepared to pay what he is worth )?

I refuse to believe that Melbourne will do a multi club deal that only sees us with HL in return for Mitch Clark. Surely Mitch as a power forward is worth more ( such as a second round pick 21 from Geelong that they may get from Brisbane for Chistianson)! Otherwise why not do a direct swap with him to Collingwood?
