Yep. Neeld keeps talking about the 'core' of players that he can BUILD a team around. I guess the implication is that the others are just filler until he recruits or develops some better players.
-
Made Cox captain in Dream Team and Supercoach for this week, he will crap all over Jamar. We will get trounced. I really hope I'm wrong.
-
I'm told he doesn't want to go back.
-
Great idea, people keep saying they need to trust each other on the field. Maybe some bonding will help.
-
That's a gross simplification (although yes, we do have to do those things). Morale and environment can have a huge effect on the playing group, just like any other workplace.

I can only hope the tattoo is of a massive erupting volcano running up his arm ending at his neck, so that from the side he will look 'ashen-faced'.

Damn that mascot was distracting.
-
Damn that music was depressing. I was hoping for something a little more uplifting

What happened? Did Jack Viney post?
-
Find me some fuel and I'll gladly sit on the deckchair next to you with a cold one and watch it burn gloriously. I think I said in the Viney thread - we've got a couple of sparks but no fuel to ignite. What happens when you light a match? You either light something else, blow it out or it burns your fingers.
-
I feel the opposite. The fire has gone out.
-
It wasn't an easy opinion to form, believe me. It's the other way around. The players need to be on fire so that the supporters can feel it. Demons supporters have been operating on mortgaged fire for too long. Last year I had hope, but that Port game just killed me inside. When I came home, my wife said she could see on my face that this loss was different. I have a pair of baby demons socks for my son. I haven't unwrapped them. I guess my post sounds sad because I am sad. Sorry if that sounds melodramatic but that's just how I feel. If Viney is the cure for cancer, I'll be the first one to celebrate. Until then I'm throwing my 10 year membership pin (which ironically I got this week) in the back of the closet.

I agree, but it won't be in a Demons jumper. I can't imagine what it would be like to have that sort of talent, pedigree and raw determination to finally make it into the club you loved as a kid and then to find yourself surrounded by people who play like they're just collecting a chequebook. I hope Viney's got the fortitude to resist the cancerous culture that's clearly infected most of the playing group. I can see two scenarios: 1 - He resists for as long as he can and finally leaves because the club is going nowhere. 2 - His passion rubs off on those around him and helps to transform the club. Before Sunday, I was firmly in the #2 camp. After watching such a capitulation of attitude from so many, I just can't look on the bright side any more. The fuel is gone. Viney's spark has nothing left to ignite.

On the Couch dissects first 15mins of Dee game

Says it all. -
Yep. Like when Frawley just let Hartlett run off. Totally uninterested. Gillies' "own behind" would have been hilarious had it happened to some other team. I'd never seen anything quite like that before.
-
I think the difference is that Hogan looks 'ready'. When Watts was drafted it was all about 'getting games into him' so he'd develop (which looks like a bad idea as it turns out). From what I read from the training reports and what I saw against North, Hogan is ready now. Completely different situations IMHO.
-
Could you imagine if that turned out to be right? Knowing our luck, it will, and Cale Morton will become the prototype for the 2015 and beyond elite player. If we were any other team, I'd say no chance. But you have to allow for the possibility just because of who we are. For we are the Demons: Fate's [censored].

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Bluey's Dad replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely that wouldn't stop certain sections of the media simply speculating in opinion pieces every few days or so? Or does that only happen to us? -
Lol, I love the ego. "Hey, all you 'morons' I don't like, come play a game I'm good at so I can brag about beating you. This will then give me more ammunition to use against you when you disagree with anything I say." Leave the bully to play with himself. He may find it's what he's best at anyway.

Yeah just horrible horrible timing. The same thing happened to my brother, I think he got his in the same intake. I think we did get some sort of juniors discount but it was gone the next year. But yeah I pay the MFC membership. It's not as useful but at least the money's going to a better place.
-
That must be some discount. My grandfather put me on the MCC waiting list when I was born and I finally got it when I was 17. The fees were $600 and I couldn't afford it, so my dad paid for my first year. After that he said I'd have to do it myself but I didn't have that kind of cash. Had it been $160 I would have scrapped around to afford it. The stupid thing is that if I had received it when I was 21 I could have paid for it, but now I'll have to put myself on the list again and I'll be in my 40's before I get another shot. Oh well, still got my MFC membership I suppose.

Depends on if it's your 3rd or 4th defender. If 3rd, downgrade somewhere else so you can buy a real premium, If 4th maybe Pederson? I had Bock until I saw he wouldn't be in until later in the year. It's slim pickings at that price range. You might as well get a rookie who will get games (Terlich, Goodes if upgraded, Vlastuin, Brown). They'll probably make more money and you can spend the spare $200k on upgrading your forwards (IMO forwards are the hardest to pick this year).
