  1. Could you imagine that if he's THAT good to take the #1 defender what Clark would do against the SECOND best defender? The guy was doubled teamed in almost all his games last year and still dominated. The mind boggles.
  2. Carlton's investigation will have to wait until Brock decides that the time has come.
  3. From The Age: "Just to reiterate ... employees of the Melbourne Football Club (Dean Bailey and Chris Connolly) have been found to have breached player rule 1.6. Connolly has been banned from holding down any role with an AFL club for 12 months. Bailey can't coach in any capacity in the AFL for the first 15 rounds of 2013. The AFL has found that Melbourne was responsible for the behaviour of its employees and fined $500,000." Anyone know what exactly rule 1.6 is?
  4. What the hell does 'conduct unbecoming' mean? I had not heard this allegation in any media before this decision. It seems similar to the 'bringing the game into disrepute' rule that I've seen bandied about - very vague indeed. And if this is the only charge that only two individuals are guilty of, how is the MFC liable for their 'unbecoming' actions? How about showing us a clear definition of what that conduct is and isn't, and how a football club is supposed to enforce that rule on it's employees. What a joke. Show me the rule.
  5. Makes sense, but wouldn't you also want your A backline delivering to your A midfield?
  6. Depends on if you rate their whole careers or if you are only judging them by what they did at the Demons. If you're going whole career, then yeah you're right and Thompson and Jolly should definitely be in. If it's just time at the Dees, no way.
  7. Looks like the 'Rookies' league is full. Not sure about the other leagues. From the comments there seems to be a mix of experienced and new DT players, I'm not sure how many could compete with someone ranked 35th from last year. For an ultra-competitive experience I'd suggest finding a DT forum and seeing if they have any leagues with spots left.
  8. This worries me greatly. He wasn't smiling in the article about the MFC wanting him to play NAB cup as well. I smell conspiracy.
  9. How much time do we have to pick? 90 seconds or 5 minutes or something?
  10. Lol, I'm 27 years old. Even my father is too young to remember details of those premierships. I had to hear it from my gradfather who sadly now isn't here to tell the stories I have some great memories of Lyon, Stynes and Nietz, then season 2000 when I thought the future was bright. But past that, nothing even approaching greatness. My son is almost 2, I hope I haven't cursed him. I think the AFL he watches will be a whole lot different following what happens over the next few months.
  11. Would you want a flag if it was gained because a quarter of the competition were so severely diminished by drug punishment that they were unable to compete? Just saying that any premiership over the next few years, if it comes on the tails of a compromised opposition, may not be as a fulfilling as one that was not. TBH, I think it'd still take the flag though.
  12. Wow that's complete BS. A Nokia N95 could do mp3 ringtines before the iPhone ever came out, it can only be Apple being obstructive that would cause that limitation. It's certainly not the technology. Hopefully there is an 'app' that will convert an mp3 to whatever proprietary format they require.
  13. I reckon if enough players were banned the AFL would let Essendon draft some players from the lower leagues to field a team. It's about all they can do. Watch Watson cop a double tag in a team full of rookies. I know it's schadenfreude but I just don't care.
  14. Also possible since the AFL actually have control over the tanking investigation but not over the drug one. There were a lot of people suggesting there will be a 'no case to answer' finding regarding tanking following our response to the AFL's 'essay'. This just seems to give them more reason to give that finding.
  15. I heard on triple m this morning that the substance they are suspected of taking is actually naturally produced by the human body. Without knowing an individual's baseline values, you can't test for it because you have nothing to compare the levels to. Different people have different levels apparently. Eddie suggested getting a genetic profile of all players from the age of 16, so that if these levels drastically change later in life they can be investigated. He said this is what cycling is doing now. Don't know if any of that is true, but that's what they said.
  16. If you're using a phone from 1998? I suppose I can't speak for iPhone because I don't have one, but any android phone can be set to use an mp3 regardless of length as it's ringtone. It may cut out and start the track again after 30 seconds though (I don't remember), so you might want to cut down the mp3 first.
  17. Yep, you can bet it'll just be a fine, especially if banning a large number of players would prohibit Essendon from fielding a team. The AFL is nothing if not consistently inconsistent. Edit: did not see the post above. Still think the statement about the AFL stands in general though.
  18. It's pretty easy, just paste the url of the youtube clip into jdownloader and it will scan the page and list all the media files on it. Then just download the mp3 one, which will be the audio track. I use it to download videos from youtube for my son
  19. Was I the only one who thought IT'S MORPHIN TIME? No? Where's YDE when you need him?
  20. If you can't find an mp3, get jdownloader and go to the theme song on youtube. Download the audio track as an mp3 and send it to your phone. Done
  21. I say it's the AFL's fault for creating an environment where winning is rewarded with premierships. Under a different rule set maybe teams wouldn't be incentivised to win and therefore not resort to performance enhancing drugs.
  22. Anyone got their fumble count for the second half of the year vs first? Surely it's as relevant to this investigation as it was to ours.
