  1. JVR getting plenty of opportunities but just can't finish with the set shot. 1.3 at the moment
  2. Woewodin takes a nice mark and goals. All a bit too easy at the moment. Agree on the Sestan comments. Very, very nice by foot.
  3. Just in case there's anyone that thinks Bowey only wins easy ball on the outside. Some seriously good contested wins here.
  4. Congrats to a modern great of the MFC and the AFL world at large. Clearly Christian went through a very traumatic experience last year and his mindset was clearly impacted by that towards the end of last season. From what I've seen from him in interviews this year, he looks fully invested in the club. I think Christian will be staying with us for a while yet.
  5. I'm hesitant to drop AJ for Lever. AJ was solid in the ruck yesterday and his aggression will be handy against Grundy next week. I still remember Gawn getting absolutely trounced by Grundy and Sydney during the opening round match last year. We need to have a solid backup for him. Otherwise agree with Sharp for Viney. Spargo would want to play well next weekend as I imagine K.Brown is very much in line.
  6. For those interested, Maxy (alongside Jordan Dawson) is currently leading the AFL's Brownlow predictor with 14 votes... He's put together an unreal 5-6 weeks of footy after a patchy start.
  7. 6. Melksham 5. Gawn 4. Oliver 3. Bowey 2. Pickett 1. Petracca
  8. I continue to be impressed with Bowey's rapid rise this season. Many could argue that he gets a lot of easy ball with his role but there were several occasions where he put his body on the line. Went at 86% DE as well.
  9. I think he took Fort by surprise several times with his aggression and strength in the ruck. Loved his goal as well! He'll never be an out and out star but I can see him being a handy player for us.
  10. Lindsay's second half was huge.
  11. We probably should've won that by 4-5 goals with how dominant we played in that finally quarter. We kicked 4.8 for the quarter.
  12. Fritsch needs to bring that effort consistently. That's the standard now. Great cameo as sub. Melksham was unreal. Gawn's late clunks were huge.
  13. 🚨 🚨 Kingsley Alert 🚨 🚨 Darcy Gardiner with four goals having only kicked 9 in his career which started in 2014.
  14. Why is a 33 year old, injury prone Jake Melksham our only forward who actually launches at the ball when going for a mark? Everyone else tentatively stands there waiting for the ball to come to them? Nice goal Riv
  15. I think Laurie has been unfairly judged at AFL so far. It's hard to get a good read on a player at the top level when they've played more than half of their games as the sub.
  16. Unfortunately, with the lack of a first round pick this year, the only way I see this getting done is through the loss of one of Pickett/Oliver/Petracca. Hopefully our trading team have a few creative solutions in mind that don't involve the loss of any of the above.
  17. Future cult hero alert with a name like that.
  18. Happy if this comes to fruition. Not so happy if we have to give up Pickett as part of the deal.
  19. He's putting out ok numbers at Casey. Had 25 touches and 10 tackles last weekend.
  20. I would dearly love Jesse Hogan back in our forward line. However, Jesse has publicly spoken about how he's struggled with the pressure of living in an AFL dominated state. I don't think he'd be playing the football he is now if he was still at Melbourne or to a lesser extent Freo. Sydney seems to be a nice fit for him.
  21. I'm not giving up on Matty J, not by a long shot, but it's clear like with many of our other key forwards choices over the last decade (Watts, Weideman, Schache, Fullerton), he lacks aggression and the want and desire to crash packs. I think his strength is similar to Fritsch's ('21-'23 Fritsch that is) in that he can find separation from his opponent and lead into space. This of course goes against our nonsensical game plan of 'bombing it long' and praying that someone can take a strong contested mark. Sadly, it seems like aggression is one of those traits that you can't really teach...
  22. It's a bit of an indictment on our front half when a 19 year old first year midfielder is our most dangerous forward option. Keep on keeping on young Harvey.
  23. I think it's a big enough sample size now (9 rounds) to suggest that fitness is clearly an issue. After 9 games, we've kicked a whopping 14 goals in our final quarters this year. 6 of those came last week against the Eagles where we still conceded five goals.
  24. 6. Langford - Did his Rising Star chances no harm 5. Gawn - Did his AA chances no harm 4. Pickett - Only player who looked consistently dangerous 3. Bowey - Continued his consistent season 2. Windsor - Starting to find his feet in '25 over the last couple of weeks 1. Petracca - Looked ok but disposal continues to frustrate
  25. Our inability to develop a key forward post Neitz needs to be studied.
