I get that you are the dour tagger at demonland. Problem is your opponent usually has 23 disposals and 4 goals... to half time. Time to go back to the magoos (flame or big footy or stalkbook) and reinvent yourself. Nothing more useless and irrelevant than a towelled-up tagger.

I don't know how Sarah Jones gets a gig on Fox Footy. Is as wooden as a splinter, and picks the wrong adjective and too often is quite repetitive. Like Sandy, just cringeworthy. Who does she know Daisy Pearce is A1, and better than most blokes actually. Mel McLaughlin is a bit blokey, but could pull anything off. Kelly Underwood is just OK. Sam Lane - predictable, but not as much as Lingy. Daisy and Mel for me; and maybe Tiffany Cherry. (Apologies if any of the above is viewed as sexist)

Lewis - some wrong decisions Oscar - Punching into corridors Hunt - Loved the smother Jetta - Just wins 50/50s Neal Bullen - Cementing his spot Garlett - Coulda kicked 8 Hogan - Played small today

You'd hope so. Progression - slow No idea about ball security. At the minute will surprise if he plays 100 games.

Don't like how the broadcaster close-upped his face when he was virtually looking for morphine. They don't show a harmless streaker, but they salivate over the prospect of a grown man crying in pain.

Great game last night with little midfield help.

Quote of the year. Sorry, I missed this thread and posted a new one stating that he is our most important player. Jesus Fan, never thought I'd be agreeing with you most of the time. Wish H was here to witness this.

Christian Petracca Big wrap on a 21 year old that has promised a lot and come from nowhere. He is the ultimate multi-dimensional-mobile-(who can play) tall. His mind and hands are quick and sure ala Diesel and Mitchell. Against Sydney, our brief midfield assertion coincided with him around the ball. One touch and smart decision-making brought us into the game. Overhead, he plays 8 inches higher than he is. He takes the ball at the highest point with a vice like grip. He can play a spine role if needed. His kicking penetrates like few others. His personality and strut lifts what was a group of inward-looking introverts (apologies Viney and Oliver and Co.) Thank god St.Kilda listened to their dietitian, who still thinks the drafting of 'Subway' McCartin is an absolute success. Thank god we didn't pay Hoges 1.5m per year for 10 years. We will need every cent to keep the real deal. Can we use Jordan Lewis's wage from 2018 and 2019 to fill his ashtray? pTGR

Surely, an individual has a right to defend themselves in court if they choose to. FCS, the simpleton SEN view of life is nauseating and far too common. Why do I put myself through such vomit?

You bunch of hypocrites. Goodwin wanted the "good stuff too". Hird was a scapegoat. Email proof that he wanted WADA compliance. Coincidenceland at its worst. Words fail me. Headline reading simpleton hypocrisy.

Best set-shot kick for goal, from a small sample, in our side. Doesn't sulk when supply is not perfect, or umpires miss a decision (take note Hogan and Melksham). Key forwards are surely more rare than key defenders. Liam Jones shows you that defending is easier for many. Allows Weed to perhaps become a MDMT, and learn how to play back. Ticks most boxes. If an opposition player is threatening with 4 first half goals for example, TMac can swing back. Common-sense, supply/demand, and pragmatism; which hopefully the MFC now talk and walk. pTGR

Any public person that insults a footballer or any other athlete/celebrity, deserves their right whack back. Having said that, Oliver is developing a reputation as a hot-head who can't control himself.

Welcome back Martin. We have missed the ultimate sunshine poster. When it rains, you are hiding under a rock. 5 minutes of sunshine, and you are beating your chest. Interesting that Luke Hodge announced his retirement today. I thought he has JL for leadership, kicking, speed and not going to ground. Maybe Todd might ring him about 2018 at the dees? That'll mean we just need Ben Button so that we can field a side in the Villa Maria Cup.

Melksham - Body Language Poor Melksham - Almost cost us Lewis - Almost cost us Lewis - Smart at end Hogan - One Effort Player (so good I plagiarised it) Tom McDonald - Elite Goal Kick

Your "two footballers" assertion is neatly putting Archer and Carey in the same box. Glenn Archer is Mother Teresa compared to most of us here; and I won't even compare him with Carey.
-
Glenn Archer's standing in the game on and off-field is beyond question surely. The junior footy incident last month is yet to play out, but I will back Archer every hour of every day of the week. Some may have thought he looked stupid here, but he was prepared to pay that price to stick up for a mate that was undermined and a club that was ripped apart. pTGR

I am not into psychobabble, but Jack Watts is the mentally toughest footballer in the AFL. I guess I have to be careful labelling him mentally tough, because if you flip it, I am calling Fasolo, Boyd, Cloke etc... mentally weak; which in this era of better psychiatric literacy, is obviously incorrect. This is a credit to Watts (first and foremost), his family and friends which obviously reinforced his existence as a person, and didn't allow football to define him. The 'bullying' didn't just occur from non-MFC entities either. Thankfully, he didn't read or absorb the carp that most MFC supporters yelled out, typed on here, and trumpeted on SEN. I actually thought his middle name was "Geetof". The cry "Get off Watts" was ultra common from the MFC supporters who would also yell "just kick it".

Damning stat. That is almost a thread closer. Viney will reach his average (2) under anaesthetic. Some would question JL's intent. I probably have no faith in his defensive spread and ability to get to the man with the ball (A1) or other close options (A2 or A3). On the flip side, our adversaries on this topic might say he is not playing inside mid as much whereby in congestion there are more opportunities to tackle. Anyway, his leadership is apparently worth 3 tackles, 1 goal and 7 other junk-time meaningless stats a game!

Slightly off-topic, but one area where Jordan has excelled in the past 12 months is the region at the back of his head. Last year I had him covered for follicle growth in that cracker-sized region that most men struggle to keep covered. At the minute (Newmanism), Jordan is absolutely smashing most in the hair stakes. He has turned back time in relation to his head; if he can do the same on the field, TGR is out of here and will hide at MFC Flame for the remainder of his contract. pTGR

Don't think the team got ahead of themselves at all. I think our supporters and those who post on CoincidenceLand might have. When you go into a game minus Watts/Hogan/Garlett, FCS, that is a potential AA forward line. Then you have Gawn, who is still so cautious running and kicking, second game back, which is notoriously the harder mountain to climb. Then you have the other players missing. The bookies had Sydney at $1.81 near the bounce. Was there a better bet than that this season, especially when they were playing a strong Casey team? pTGR

To be fair, my opinion wont change after one good or bad game from JL. I wasn't prepared to judge him after a 10 goal win a few weeks ago, so should I refrain from further judgement from what should have been a 10-goal-plus loss to Sydney last Friday night? I am trying to....honestly. All I will point to 'at the present time' (Gerard Healyism), is to point to the pre-game Foxtel green/red graph, which highlighted every MFC player, and rated them with similar players in their specific age group across the league. So this is comparing 20 year olds with 20 year olds, and 31 year olds with 31 year olds. For memory, we had a majority of our players in the green (output better when compared to players in the comp of similar age). Jordan was significantly red. Now that is a fact based on his output for the MFC in his first half of the season in the Melbourne jumper. Not my opinion. Not a biased club opinion, where he may finish an artificial 12th in the B&F to support their decision-making. pTGR

We accept the praise. Now we just have to accept the criticism, even if it is a tad over the top. This is a 24 hour news cycle now, with a spectrum of media talent out there, trying to cut through. We can sook about it, or just grow up and accept it. Simpletons like one simple reason or coincidence to explain complex events. Take heed of this, and you will endure a lot of what is regurgitated in the media and here.

Lucky for them Bevo and Murphy thought differently in 2016.
