Caro digs up old wounds of Camp Fiasco on eve of season.
TGR replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bevo's dogs had a few injuries in 2016, I recollect. As for soldiers? This is a brutal game. How many times has Clarko taken the Hawks to Kokoda? I don't think he refers to them as footballers on these (ad)ventures. Don't think they have ever been a holiday. Clarko refers to them as soldiers more than we know. Started in his first month there. The fact that we didn't have the stomach for a challenge that was overcome by other clubs/entities, is an indictment on the club as a whole. The fact that the youglings didn't have the guts to speak to the 'leadership' group and/or coaching staff is incomprehensible. I am not blaming the younglings here actually. Just speaks volumes in terms of trust, communication, loyalty....and the list goes on. This is unprecedented. -

Don't know if Lethal could have pulled off: - What Blight did in Adelaide in 97/98 (granted that they were lucky to win in 98 after we beat them easily in 98 final series) - What Bevo did in 2016 especially - Hardwick in 2017? - Malthouse in 1985 - Wallet in 1997/98 - Roos in 2005 & 2006 In my book, the best coach gets maximum and more out of his list. Matthews was 5hite tactically, with little innovation. He also coached without any sense of sustainability with one eye to the future. What Roos did with Sydney, against the Eagles who were blessed with speed, ice, and talent; and to leave a dynasty after that, was extremely special. A guy that drives a McLaren, against a guy that drives a 120B? The McLaren might finish first, but I'm dipping my lid to the guy driving the 120b, that gets beaten by a length. -

Thank god for Caro. As if I'm going to get somewhere near the truth from Robbo, or back-slappers that post on forums. This camp fiasco is more than a passing pre-season story. It will define our year. An average/poor year in the past was invariably blamed on luck; psychology; curses etc....and any other convenient get-out that a simpleton can muster. There will only be one reason we fail this year. The camp fiasco primarily, an also the underlying issues (no medical input into boot camp 1; communication between U24's (bar Viney) and the 'leadership'/coaching group; the willingness to undermine Goodwin at the expense of getting a cuddle from the PA) underpinning the fallout. The camp fiasco is an indictment on most at the club. Its the urine infested mattress that we [censored] in, and we will have to sleep in. Don't shoot the messenger you bozos. -
8 months too late. Self-inflicted stupidity or a case of the tail wagging the dog. Take your pick. Most injuries are said to be unlucky and undeserved. Can’t say that this is one of them. pTGR

GWS offered him up to Paul Roos for a packet of chips apparently. The ND Policy doesn't always work.

What would you pay more money for to help the MFC further stabilize?

Boot camp -
I won't watch it but I'm guessing he does the classic Robbo 180 in the space of 2 sentences. 1. "It's not for me to say where they will finish. I don't know what is going on in their heads. I don't know how the camp fiasco will play out. I don't know how the Watts exit will affect them. I don't know. (pause)....I just don't know". 2. "But if you arks me, they miss. Just when ya think Melbourne are about to come...they let you down. They let you down.."

Melbourne player investigated over alleged assault whilst overseas

Can the AFLPA issue an injunction for the incarcerated to avoid breaking rocks. -
Says a lot about both the playing group, the leaders and the coaching staff. There is obviously a trust issue that the playing group perceive the FD as having too much brawn and not enough brain; while the coaching staff will question the resilience of the playing group. Cant believe that this wasn’t mediated before union intervention. Something stunk with the Watts scapegoat saga. But a rotten stench is thick now. Roos the man-manager was underrated by our supporters. I remember many wanting Goody to takeover before Roos’ 3rd year. If I was opposition I would sledge us till the cows are locked in the shed. Wattsy's 150k is the antithesis of stabilisation I would have thought. What's that. 300-400 memberships? -
Northey Coach. How B Lovett can not start in the 18 is beyond me. How G Lovett makes the squad is beyond me.

BS. If Jack Watts left Melbourne a year of so ago, we would have labelled him a "traitor". He stuck fat when we were siht. We should stick fat over his temporary plot-losing in the pre-season of 2017. The supporters who have heavily questioned Jack's off-loading, have some idea about: - LOYALTY being a 2-way street - VALUE. Pick 31 and negative $150,000 gets you absolute carp in this game. - not blindly following 100% what the club spits out. The latest is that "he had trouble accepting feedback".

One day, MFC supporters are going to stop whinging about: fixture, Etihad, injuries, luck, umpires, Etihad, Buckenara, Etihad, handball, compensated interstate games, Etihad, the bounce of the ball; the MCC waiting list etc... Grow a pair, and realise that we reap what we sow. Surely Barassi’s ‘If it is to be it is up to me’ does not pertain to the MFC, or us supporters. Thought of the day: It is only 2 train stops from the G to Etihad.

Hardly any Friday night games in 2018. Surely somehow connected to Jack Watts.

Hard to keep your eyes open when you yawn so much. i can now add incorrect to irrelevant.

You guys once laughed at Richmond.

As opposed to Hogan’s professionalism in WA smoking darts. Setting standards? My arze.

It passed the ultimate fitness test earlier this month: dancing one leg on Wattsy’s grave. Only serious. pTGR

First, the poll should be changed to "Do we trade Jack Watts for pick 31 and salary discounting for 2 years". I realise he didn't have the "eye of the tiger". I realise he aint someone I'd go to war with. The whispers now are that "he couldn't accept feedback inside the club". But if Goodwin's/club is 100% honest, they stated that he should explore his options, and if the right deal came up, then the club would have a look at it. What the club really meant was "he is gone, we will take the best deal we can get". The leadership may have even gone to the club and gave a green light for trading him, but again, the deal has to be right. It wasn't. For a club that may push in 2018/19, I'd rather a player that can play multiple positions (forward, pinch-hit ruck +/- back), as a relatively mobile tall; even if he was considered a 'depth' player hereon...than pick 31 and some salary. The great thing that Port did, was have the strength to say here is pick 31, and by the way, you will pay part of his salary. That is pushing a bargain to its limits. Something we cannot say we did. No balls in negotiation....no brains either.

I must be delusional. Gibbs at 29 = Lever Gibbs at 29 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Watts
-
He is already on 300k (200 + minimum) per year in 2018 and 19.
-
Or stupid
-
Where did Lever finish in the B&F this year? B&F's are tainted my friend. A tool of vindication used by coaches and the FD.
-
What was Mark Neeld? Garry Lyon's safe and easy pick because Mick gave him a reference. You can be lectured about Garry's thoughts. I won't be. FCS, we are paying some of Watts' wage? It only gets better. The MFC are paying Jordan Lewis' super; Watts' holiday, and over-compensated Adelaide too early. Strikes me of a club that is insecure, without much nerve.
-
Listen to the simpletons boo him next year, when in fact he loved the club and wanted to stay. Club has no right to play the loyalty card when Trac and Co are offered big coin in 2019/20. Like his old man said, we stuffed him and later stoned him. Pick 31 or Watts? Give me Watts.
