Good call. My 5c worth is... 1. Don't let players decide that they will play 2 weeks after a plantar-fascia operation. 2. When the physio comments that the player's foot injury is directly related to his 'poor core stability', that is code for "I have no idea about musculoskeletal foot pathology, but do this in case it works...eventually". 3. Foot surgeons are experts at foot surgery. We overrate their knowledge about how to deal with secondary and tertiary sequale of the original/main problem. As Lyon says, let the 'cobbler's do the cobbling'. 4. Full-time foot/ankle expertise at AFL clubs is a myth at the present time and will be standard practice by 2030. It will take another 12 years for the penny to drop that money should be spent on the cake, and not the icing. 5. Go to 1

Irony is that Mr. Hyperbole wouldn't have let Viney return so quickly after plantar fascia surgery in 2017. You reap what you sew. I don't feel sorry for the club or Viney with this foot saga. Totally preventable.

I agree. Frost does turn it over. But I am comforted by the fact the Frost can get back to the goal line to pressure a certain goal. He will improve with continuity and faith. More important than that is Frost is essential to our team that presses, yet needs to get back to goal when the opposition cut through.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
TGR replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Amount of times Lewis goes for the kick of the ground when the ball is even off the ground, is quite alarming. If Melbourne are after another cooked player to bolster our 'experience' on field, we should also go for Harry Taylor. At least we would show some consistency. -
Gaff is vanilla squared. He and Shuey are front-runners. Surprised we didn't go for Saad last year. We have paid 800k for Lever. That makes TMac worth 900k in my book, which would be a bargain. Do we have the luxury to keep purchasing, or do we try to keep our talent that will get offers in the next few years. Lets go for outside speed in the super-draft. Hang on, we have hand-delivered Adelaide our picks in the super-draft. Sometimes, when you pee in the bed, you have to lay in it.

If the club was hell-bent on paying superannuation 18 months ago, invest in a Boomer Harvey, who would have taken a 2 year deal, instead of treacle Lewis on a 3 year deal. Would have added to us, and might have been the difference in 2017 and 2018.

Thank god there is another who thinks Gaff and to a greater extent Shuey, are the most overrated front-running players in the comp.

The knock on Melbourne circa 2016 and onwards was pure and simple, a lack of outside speed. Only a few posters here have been concerned with it over the journey. This was one critical reason that I cautioned against the Lewis trade: he was always going to make a slow team, even slower. With Frost and Hunt (pre-injury) playing for Casey, and then you have Lewis, Vince (up to Port game), Tyson and co playing ones, it baffles me. St.Kilda exposed our lack of defensive spread to the whole footy world yesterday. Expect all teams below us to take us on with play-on, switching, and rebound footy from defensive 50. Goodwin thinks its a lack of effort? Maybe guys like Harmes and Hogan don't run back to defend hard enough, but we don't have the capacity to defensively spread. We need speed behind the ball, not leadership.

Agree. At the end of the day, Lewis won’t have been the difference between us making finals and not. Listen to Roos last night, and he can’t believe we leave speed in the seconds (Garlett and Hunt (pre-injury)). Lewis wasn’t our worst. “Give it to me Harmes” and “Body language Hogan” could take claim to that last night. But the Lewis experiment has failed, delayed development, and slowed an already one-paced side. All for ‘leadership’. This recruitment personified the veil of negativity and lack of trust in our own leaders and their capacity to write their own history. Opposition coaches now are instructing players to take Lewis and Vince on, and disregard their perceived pressure. You can carry one; not two. -
Paul Roos is a decent judge of character Andy has known him since their U19 days. History was no doubt ratified by Roos. As for Malthouse, the last bit of advice he gave the MFC was about Neeld ticking all the boxes.

Impressive.

Quote of the year. Our biggest weakness is foot speed entering our D50 from a quick play. The club either has the balls now to get games into Frost and Hunt, or go down in flames in finals with Lewis and Vince plodding. -
I think us MFC supporters (especially our FD) overrate Lever and underrate Frost. Brian Taylor elevated Stringer to AA-status, and I reckon, did the same with Lever. Good opportunity for Frost now. He needs to ignore the groans of the simpletons when he gets caught HTB, and continue to grow and take risks.

Lets keep Petracca on ice until the last day of September then?

Luff mentioned last week that Melksham is at about 50%; Dusty 54%; whereas comp average is 30ish for memory. Melbourne seem to go to him in a one-on-one, when he isn't even at a clear advantage; which means his 1-on-1 prowess has been long understood internally. I wanted Melksham dropped after the Richmond loss for the record.

Slightly off-topic but slightly irrelevant, 1987 obviously ended for Melbourne with Bucky and Stynes within a 5m radius of the ball. What is creepy, is that 1988 ended the same way as well.

Sam Mitchellesque with both feet. Tilt has surprised me. Another one-paced mid, but Roos was adamant OTC that he was a bonefide A-grader, when he couldn't get into the team.

I'd be more worried about Table Tennis than NRL, NBL or Cricket. Rugby League FCS.

1 year off

Gus is more tilted, like Rod Carter.

Goodwin says Viney & TMac out for 6-8 Weeks

Incompetence. -
Oliver. Don't forget this club could have and should have picked you. We even had more intel on you than any other club. If I were you, I wouldn't give a sucker and even break.
