The AFL also gave North the right to an additional two rookies on the list - a measure aimed at allowing the club to keep younger players while bringing in more mature talent. Sources familiar with the AFL’s draft assistance package for the Kangaroos said the future picks had to be used in trades this year or they would cease to exist. North Melbourne have not had the problem of key players leaving the club. Confused!!!! Why end of first round pick in 2024 and end of second round 2024???? That’s draft help over 3 years !!!! 2022. 2023. 2024. They got picks as assistance last year ‘ 22 which they used it to get Logue and Tucker. Agree with end of first round 2023. Okay. But not 2024 I’d also given them priority access to two players from state leagues. Like Suns got and they picked up Josh Corbett and Chris Burgess. It’s a help but not a huge gift.

Non-MFC: Finals Week 03
spirit of norm smith replied to Timothy Reddan-A'Blew's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry @BDA to disagree. We could have beaten either team last night. I wouldn’t be afraid of playing either. We have to ability to beat anyone and win it. Put us against anyone and we’re a big chance. Just for the record. Pies and Blues didn’t beat us. Dees lost it. Both times. What hurts is we only have ourselves to blame in both games. So so so so (etc ) chances to win both games. (And ps. we were minus Gus,Petty,Melksham) -

We will be a contender without doubt in 2024. We have the star power still but work to do to get back to the summits 1- sort out forward 50 entries by Mids 2- work out forward line strategy ( new forwards coach) and yeah goalkicking accuracy 3- more aggressive quicker ball movement strategy, and running and using the corridor 4- better run with injury incl late in the year 5-refresh the list with added players to cover key areas (young running Mids) (McAdam as an opportunist goalkicker) (backup ruck/fwd to support Gawn) core group without known additions Key Backs. May⭐️⭐️Lever⭐️ Petty* ⭐️Tomlinson Turner Jsmith* Med/sml backs. Rivers Bowey Salem Mcvee mids. Trac.⭐️ ⭐️Clarry⭐️⭐️. JV7⭐️ Gus⭐️ 🙏🏽 Sparrow (Laurie) Runners. Lingers Hunter (Woey jnr) (Howes) Key Fwds. Petty* JVR (Jsmith*) med/small fwds Fritsch⭐️ Pickett⭐️ ANB Melksham🙏🏽 Spargo Chandler (AMW) Rucks Gawn⭐️⭐️

Bont has to be the favourite. Stood out for the Dogs. Likely 27 votes. Daicos gets 25-26 votes. Trac might end up around 23-24 depending on how they give him votes. Should poll in 10-11 games at least so a big chance if he gets the 2s and 3s

Jack Darling to the Dees. Two big years. He’d be a huge addition whilst we’re in the window. With 50+ inside 50s every week, he’d kick 3-4 goals regularly each week. Cost ? a future 2nd round?????

Frawley had been an All Australian for the Dees. Mckay is a long long long way off that ranking.

Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
spirit of norm smith replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Still think a phone call to Tom Fullerton (Lions) might be worth a go. He kicked 30.22 in the VFL as a ruck/forward. He is a big bodied ruck/forward that could relieve Maxy in the 6-7 minutes a quarter but also be capable ahead of the big sticks. Means we’d let JVR be a permanent forward and potentially cover if Petty was delayed in his return. -
North seeking pick 3 compo for Mckay North seeking pick 11 mid first round charity North seeking access to Sanders via NGA with a special charitable exception to match any bid North has pick 2 North already has LDU, Simpkin, Wardlaw, Larkey, Sheezel , Thomas and Phillips. Msybe give them 12 bonus points at the start of next year ps AFL response to Dees in 2014 after asking for assistance AFL concluded that while Melbourne has a poor on field record in recent times, this does not of itself constitute “exceptional circumstances” or a justification for awarding priority draft selections.
