  1. Coaches votes for MFC were ordered Gawn 9 Petracca 7 Viney 4 Oliver 2
  2. I liked his kicking. Nice and straight. Simple. Hogan was not good technically. Waved the bell from side to side. Weid gets sucked in under the footy in marking contests. Once he fixes that and lifts his intensity, he’ll bd very handy.
  3. Tmcd should be fine to play. Scratch (corneal abrasion) heals in about 3 days. It’s very painful and first 24 hours is a lot of weeping of the eye and sensitivity to light (needed the patch).
  4. Yes Heffernan signed a 3 year deal at end of 2002 with Dons. Then they had salary cap issues and traded him to us. We had salary cap issues too and took Heffernan as long as the Dons paid about 1/3rd of his salary. He played well in 2003 then declined through injury and confidence. Didn’t want to leave the Dons ultimately and returned after 3 years. The Dons offered him a 3 year deal for 2006 and we offered 2 years. But he finished after 2007 as he was spent. We got some value for a guy who cost us minimal.
  5. That’s what happens when you complain and the chef finds out. Very harsh response imo. I went there a few years ago with friends and the steaks were good although we didn’t have dessert !!! Thankfully team is in Manly
  6. Melksham and Hibberd. Heffernan was ok. Moorcroft was always going to be a shocker.
  7. I think the players currently in NSW should move to the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland on Monday after the Hawks match. Need to get out of NSW and have 3-4 weeks in QLD. August on the GC would be a nice winter escape.
  8. Yes. Agree. Not sure why the players were left behind. AFL are paying for accomodation costs and transfers and majority of living arrangements. Need to keep the team together.
  9. Smith is versatile. Can play forward, back, wing or half forward. Mid sized. Does he have a set defined position. No. It means he’s really a back stop type of player. A filler. Yet we only have to look at a bloke who has starred for the Pies over the last 3 years. Jeremy Howe (j-ho). He is the same prototype as Smith. It’s a shame J-Ho is injured as I would get Smith to watch J-ho in action. The issue with Joel is his footy IQ. It takes time and he does and will make mistakes. But he’s got athletic ability and can be very handy. At the moment he’s probably slotted in as a fringe type player. 25-30. I think he’s probably one who might ask or be considered for a trade option at end of 2020.
  10. I wish we had a vaccine for Covid 19. I wish we had a vaccine for racism. It is a virus that extends through the community. It’s not the majority. It’s the minority. But there are ignorant uneducated ill informed commentators like Bolt and Hansen that get air time. Turn them off. Shut them out. And to the trolls and cowards that dispel filth and dirt on the social media, crawl back into your cave and don’t come out
  11. Jonesy is a champion. Hope the club manages his twilight year in a good way. Sometimes we haven’t and it has caused angst. He deserves to go out with his head high and a few games this year are deserved.
  12. It was clearly omcd best game so far. This is now the standard. The AFL Standard. He seemed to run more freely than in a long time. To be honest, he was gifted many many games for his development. And had a few shockers. I think he’s better as a second defender behind May who would get the opposition’s key forward. And Lever as the 3rd intercept defender gives the defence a better structure. I agree Smith became a superstar when he was injured. He plays a small but tall role. I don’t think we can have Smith and Lever in the same defence line up. The test for Oscar is to maintain this now for the remainder of 2020. This is now the standard.
  13. Agree. Nic Nat didn’t even beat O’Brien. It’s crazy!!
  14. Excellent. We play in QLD against a QLD team. Sure it’s not their ground but it’s a homely feel. Hardly a neutral or beneficial outcome. Lions will drive down the pacific hwy in an hour and be home before 11. So far 1 home, 2 away and 5 neutral Eagles away in Perth Blues away at Marvel Docklands Bombers “away” MCG - to be rescheduled at new venue and date Cats home MCG Tigers “home” MCG Suns “home” at Giants Stadium Hawks “away” at Giants Stadium Lions “home” at Metricon GC Yet to play - Swans, Giants, Dockers, Saints, Kangas, Crows, Power, Pies, Bulldogs and the Bombers game to be rescheduled Hope we get to stay in GC for the next 3-4 games to play Bulldogs, Kangas, Swans and Saints.
  15. Agree. Hudson should have highlighted the team bond around Bennell. He missed it. Poor form. Little dweeeb hudson - “You’d think they’d have won the flag” what’s should have said- “wow. Why not celebrate. Clearly Harleys comeback means a lot to him and his teammates. Great stuff”.
  16. Dangers are clearly Gunston up forward, Burgoyne as the qtr back, Mitchell and Worpel for contested footy, Isaac Smith for his run and Sicily as the tall rebound defender down back. Smith especially always seems to be at his best against us. Need to find a way to use Langdon on one wing and shutdown Smith on the other.
  17. Have to say that whilst I didn’t give him a vote, Oscar McDonald played probably his best game for the Dees. He nullified Sam Day and actually ran a few times to rebound the footy. Still got lead feet in marking contest. Last night was the expected standard. I felt with Day and King, May & Oscar combo worked better. Allowed Lever to play intercept. I saw some people gave Lever in the votes. Not in my top 10. Marginally better but still too easily pushed aside in marking contests.
  18. Yes agree. Langdon showed why he was recruited. His run and pace and carry is what we need. I said it time and time again. Tomlinson is NOT a wingman. No no no. He’s a CHF/CHB. He’s endurance is good and mobility for a big guy. But he’s not agile. Not quick. Of the current stock, Brayshaw would be best option on the other wing although he’s better inside. We are stocked up on inside mids so Brayshaw has to play wing. He’s defensive run needs to improve however. Other option remains Hunt. He should push up to the wing as use his pace and long kicking. Although him and Langdon would be hard to distinguish. One might need to visit the barber.
  19. Agree with this. I’ve been saying his contested marking is non existent for reasons above. He is a good player and fits better as 3rd defender
  20. No change. But Melksham and Brayshaw on notice. Tmcd probably has a corneal ebrasion (scratch of the cornea). Painful and weeps a lot with sensitivity to light. Need 2-3 days to repair. No contact. But ok to play next Sunday. Would be ok by Friday. I’d still keep Lockhart who did lock down on Ainsworth. He didn’t get it but neither did Ainsworth. Hibberd beat Sexton and rebounded. Jetta had his hands full with Rankine but understandably given Rankine is a talent. Nev is needed right now but starting to show signs of wear and tear this year.
  21. Brayshaw might keep his place but MUST BE OUT ON NOTICE.
