2021. This will be our year. Go Dees. Grab that premiership. No fear.

Melbourne FC First XI (it’s a long off season)
Slow day watching the cricket. I know the club posted our potential Cricket XI but I think there is more hidden talent in our list. 1. Jack Viney - (captain) opening batsman. Tough as nails. Always takes on the short ball. Plays like Justin Langer. 2. Steven May - opening batsman. Strong rock like defence. Hits it long when he goes for it. Plays like Matthew Hayden. 3. Christian Salem - left handed batsman. Highly skilled. Fluent stroke maker. Part time handy off spin when required. Plays like Usman Khawaja. 4. Christian Petracca - right hand batsman. Aggressive middle order stroke maker. Confident. Plays like Viv Richards. 5. Kozzzzy Pickett - left hand batsman. Small but very aggressive. Goes after the bowling. Strike rate 100+. Quick between the wickets. Plays like Nicholas Pooran. 6. Jake Melksham- right hand batsman. Coaches favourite. Doesn’t score big but does enough to keep himself in the team. Plays like Damien Martyn. 7. Nathan Jones (vice captain) - wicketkeeper/batsman. Strong big hitter. Aggressive. Plays like Rod Marsh. 8. Trent Rivers - all rounder - batsman - medium fast swing bowler. Huge improver. Good all round player who can also bat and score good runs. Plays like Ben Stokes. 9. Nev Jetta - leg spin bowler. Attacking and Crafty in your face leg spinner. Plays like Abdul Qadir. 10. Luke Jackson - fast bowler. Tear away young quick. Erratic but wicket taker. Plays like Jason Gillespie. 11. Ben Brown - fast bowler. Regular 140km express quick. Gets the wickets. Huge run up. Plays like Michael Holding. 12th man. Aaron Vandenburg- of course. Ultimate great bloke to have in the change rooms. Good right hand batsman if concussion rule required.

New Demonland Player Sponsor - Fraser Rosman
Good call. Hopefully Mark Williams can lift his footy skills and development.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I thought GC Suns would look to preselect or draft Max Pescud. Strong 2019 as a 17 year old and played in the 2020 Suns Academy v Lions Academy game up here this year. Pace and skill. Too good not to be in recruiters sights. Might get a call from Southport Sharks to be in the new expanded eastern league team. One kid who might be given 2nd look in next years draft.

2021 Full Fixture
13-9 for the year. Will be in a battle for the top 4 but perhaps settle for 6th/7th. Last round versus Cats away. FFS!!

Rhyan Mansell
I’m “Optimistic or misty-optic” (as Dennis Cometti would say). Strike rate ok so far. Mansell has the attributes imv. He’s not a superstar by any means but if you read all the new draftees bios, they are all deadset 200 gamers ahead. But half will be delisted after 2-3 years. I do think sometimes you get good value from a 20-22yo youngster who missed out in their draft year but pursues their footy dream and keeps going. In state league and even moving interstate and trying to make it. Plenty of examples. Not all good players get drafted as 18 year olds in the top 20. And not all top 20 picks become stars (as we know).

2020 AFL Mature age draft prospects
SANFL had Rowe, Wehr, Highmore in the draft and McNeil and Parks in the rookie draft. And Rhyan Mansell training with the Tigers ?. So given no one out of the WAFL this year. Interesting to see where Sam Fisher goes in 2021. WAFL Sandover Medallist in 2020 after moving across. Gun player for Northern Blues in VFL. Ex AFL Swans listed. Still only 22. Creative running midfielder. Good skills and decision making. Evasive. Good pace over first 20m. Skilful left footer. Knows how to win the footy and use it. He would be a handy pickup by the Dees. Suit the vacant “left side wing “ position that imv is still not being filled (although I’m optimistic about Rosman development in a few years as a lethal weapon in the midfield).

Rhyan Mansell
FFS. After three premierships in the last 4 years, I’ve grown to really hate the Tigers. I hate every other club, just some like the Pies, Eagles, Bombers and now Tigers are really hated. ? Mansell is a skilled, fast, wing/half back runner who showed in the SANFL that he also has the 2nd efforts and intensity to be in the AFL system. It’d be great for Mark Williams or Tim Lamb to get his number and give him a call to see if he would consider a spot with the Dees. Tigers already have too many good players. They need to opt out for a while.

Kobe Farmer
Great to see Dees giving Kobe the opportunity with the group. It would be a great story for the Dees if he could make it. The Wiz is one of my favourite players ever. Such a talent and so entertaining.

Casey Demons 2021
@goodoil is spot on with his assessment of these youngsters. Ryan Sparkes was probably the one youngster from the 2019 U18s season (Gippsland Power) who I thought was a late pick or rookie chance but missed out in the 2019 draft. It would have been good to see him develop at Casey as he has good skills and run. I’d be interested to see if Casey can convince Tim Smith to pull on the boots in 2021. He was a heart and soul player like Jimmy Munro at Casey and was unlucky with injuries in his AFL days.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - FRASER ROSMAN
I think Joeboy would definitely sum up Fraser Rosman in 3 words. Speed, endurance, size. Can’t wait to see how he develops and could play back or forward or on probably even fit in on the wing. Mark Williams will work with this kid a lot in 2021.

TRAINING: Monday 14th December 2020
Agree. Rosman is a huge athlete. Pace. Endurance. Size. Can’t wait to see how he develops. Bowey and Laurie. I think JT went for the most skilful kids available at our picks. Perhaps they are the two most skilled in the draft. Good signs.
-
Player Numbers 2021
Agree Ben Brown should try to keep 50. Brett Lovett could present it. then 16 - Bowey. Jack Grimes to present 17- Laurie. Brett Lovett to present. 19- vacant 21- Rosman. Cameron Pedersen to present. 28- added player if taken 42- added player if taken

2020 AFL Rookie Draft
Yes I think Stoddart showed his capabilities at AFL level and that he might be able to get another chance. Carlton VFL obviously presents an opportunity for him.
-
2020 AFL Rookie Draft
Oscar might still get picked up as a delisted free agent. He’s better than most of the players in the delisted group. I thought the Crows might give him a second chance given they lost Hartigan.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
This is the new skill of the recruitment team. I’m expected an actuarial department to be added.
-
2020 AFL Rookie Draft
I’d invite Riley Stoddart 21yo(ex Swans) , Jackson Callow 18yo (TAS) Ryhan Mansell 20yo (TAS/SA Eagles) and Kurt Mutimer 23yo (ex WC Eagles) as train on players over the summer. All are good enough to be on AFL lists imv. Great that Mark Williams is on board. I’m sure he has a few young hungry footballers in mind too. Potential for Dees to offer a place and add under the SSP program.

Nearest the pin - 2020 draft
Bowey straight into the team in the wing!! That’s “Optimistic or misti-optic” as Dennis Cometti would say !!! I think he will have a development year and more likely Laurie will get a game in the seniors mid-late in 2021. But given the glaring gap in our team for a quality wingman opposite Langdon, you might be right.

Again the question ... what spots do we have left on the list? One primary list spot and one rookie list spot??

2020 AFL Draft
Fair call. Rosman does have speed and kicking style like Smith but better in the air. That’s a high bar to set to compare like Goodes.
