  1. Frame this … Will Houghton KC is representing Melbourne and young star Jacob van Rooyen. He is arguing that rule 18.5.1 is there to protect a player whose sole objective is to either contest the mark or spoil the mark. He says rule 18.5.3 contains a protection or an immunity to the player, when their sole objective is contesting a mark or seeking to spoil a mark, from being charged with a reportable offence. The rules: 18.5.1: The Player whose sole objective is to contest or spoil a Mark shall be permitted to do so. 18.5.3: Incidental contact in a Marking contest will be permitted if the Player's sole objective is to contest or spoil a Mark. Houghton argues that van Rooyen spoiled the mark using an outstretched arm and fist to punch the ball away, which should be the end of the matter. That’s our case.
  2. and we wait and wait and wait … surely it shows there is no simple Guilty decision. We have the rules to show his innocence.
  3. I was on the blog but just couldn’t hold on anymore waiting for the Decision

  5. I like Petty back. I think Petty can be ok as a forward but ultimately is better as a key defender. Our success has been with Petty in defence over the past 2 years and he’s a key part of the defence. Last week we saw Lever having to man up more on Chol and our defence wasn’t as effective without Lever’s interception marking. Other club want Lever to be static and defensive rather than come across to spoil or intercept. Moving Petty forward helps other teams achieve this.
  6. Outrage. 47 pages. They AFL are just making it up as they go. Fogarty. Oops a mistake. Why not bring that to MRO and the tribunal. It was far worse. No striking. No intent. No swinging arm. No concussion. Should have reasonably foreseen causing injury and contact. Thats not right. Where’s that new rule !!!! That’s every contest in our game. You cannot stop going for a spoil in a marking contest.
  7. Hawks fancy their chances Forwards Mitch Lewis Moore Breust Contested footy Newcomb Worpel pace and run Jiath Day Amon Dees need to dominate in the ruck and get first use of the footy
  8. Hell yeah. Storm the AFL buildings !!
  9. Agree. Gleeson is a mad man. Fogarty. Chol. You could name 5-6 every week. MRO and Gleeson have lost it in the views of all the footy public. #FreeJVR
  10. Appeal Appeal Appeal The tribunal chairman Jeff Gleeson KC said that although it was reasonable for the young Demon to assess the situation in the way he did they decided “a reasonable player would have seen that in spoiling the ball in the way he did would almost inevitably have resulted in a forceful blow to Ballard’s head”. But that’s wrong. I’d agree if there was a swinging arm. I’d agree if he looked directly at Ballard. JVR is clearly trying to spoil. Ballard was not concussed. He hurt his neck on falling. The fact that a stretcher came out seems to be a major factor. How could JVR stop ? He’s in the act of contesting the mark. Last week the Fogarty spoil was play on. That was worse than the JVR incident.
  11. Yet Chol has no case to answer for a similar incident. He attempted to tackle but hit Bowey in the head. That’s 2 weeks.
  12. I think this is an absurd decision. JVR is banned doing a legal action under the rules and laws of the game. No swinging arm. No concussion. It’s a spoiling attempt that hit the other player in the head. Wow that’s 10-12 incidents per match every week.
  13. Ffs. panel of former players Jason Johnson and Paul Williams. wow.
  14. Claremont Daniel Curtin played through the midfield by Claremont ends with most disposals and BOG with significant impact. 26 possessions, 18 contested, 12 clearances and 10 tackles. I keep saying it this kid is a gun with so many strings to the bow agree @Pennant St Dee he’s a future star. Would laugh at Freo if we grabbed him. Eagles surely will finish last and look to grab Reid.
  15. Yes Goodwin seems more balanced than others. Dew must have thought it was the Suns B&F votes !!! Ballard and Swallow ffs. I was at the game and Trac and Viney were far ahead of these two. We won and they were two key reasons.
  16. Yes it’s insane how Barrett hates the Dees and how reveals each week that he hates most teams (except his favoured Kangas). He’s a f@$&))&(t
  17. Weid starting to come of age according to the fox commentators. Two good marks and goals.
  18. Love your work Max Gawn My Best players Clarry. Trac. JV. Sparrow Brayshaw Did their job Rivers. Bowey. Lever Grundy Pickett played Satisfactory game JJ Mcvee Hunter. Chin Back to backline Petty Still very raw JVR Turner Not fully fit? May More needed from Langdon. ANB. very disappointing night Fritsch
  19. Definitely the Kayo / Fox commentators especially Dunstall was barracking for the Suns. Agree the replays highlighted our frees and issues. I think given the 5 minutes stoppage for Ballard meant multiple replays. Btw Chol should also be referred as a MRO incident. Lucky Bowey wasn’t concussed and fell on his shoulder.
  20. ? JVR hit on Ballard. Eyes for the ball ? Maybe 1-2 weeks given impact of Ballard being injured. ? Hibberd fitness. Assume he’s right for next week. ? form of JJ and Mcvee. They were ok but on the edge still come selection ? rest Clarry. He looked physically spent at the end as he willed as forward. likely ins. BBB, Hibberd outs. Turner. JVR (susp) Hibberd May. Lever Rivers Petty. Bowey Hunter. JV. Langdon Anb. Grundy Chandler Fritsch. Bbb. Kozzzy Gawn Trac. Oliver. Brayshaw. Sparrow. JJ. Mcvee. Sub. Laurie
  21. Agree. Alex Sexton is an absolute gun goalscorer at VFL level but not quite there at AFL. Had a great year 2-3 years ago. Like Dunstan for Casey, he’s too good for VFL but won’t get a run now given age and others ahead of him.
  22. Tackles v Suns 66-44 ⭐️⭐️⭐️Pickett 7. Sparrow 7. Viney 7 ⭐️⭐️ANB 6 ⭐️Gawn 5 but others were lacking and work to do 1s. May. Lever , Bowey , Langdon. Riv. Chin. Fritsch 0 ☹️Hunter 0 ☹️
