Another chance for Sam this week. They preferred Mitch Brown over Sam in the last fortnight which reflects where Sam was at. He’s got at least the next month (4 games) to show us what we all desperately want to see. Attack on the contest. Take the mark. Or bring it to ground. Constant movement and demanding the footy. Good accurate kicking. Remove the niceness. Feeling like he belongs. Tough first up v Andrews or Adams so he’ll need to be agile and lead up to the footy. Hope we see a reflection of the 2018 finals Sam.

Bye - what bye ? Seems like we’ve had 10 day break whilst others had 13-14. Nonetheless hopefully there was time for the players and coaches to refresh and reset and get back to the required high standards expected all across the ground. No Gawn. No Tmcd. We need to see what LJ and the Weid can deliver. With chance, comes opportunity!! -
Yes that’s the missing stat. His 2nd efforts are A+ rated imv
-
Fair enough. Go home factor always in play when you draft kids from interstate. But I think players are staying more and more and it’s a relatively low rate of players changing for the “go home” factor these days.
-
LJ to stay. We’ve given him more than money can buy. A premiership. Something he’ll always remember. Sure he can probably get a million a year elsewhere but he’s bonded with so many at MFC. If we can get to $750k a year over 5 years ($3.75m) that’s plenty of coin. If he leaves for more , that’s $$$cully-like

Could Josh Frydenberg be the new AFL CEO?

Surely ScoMo for the AFL job. He’s a gun at marketing and embellishments. Yes he knows nothing about the greatest game but at least he’ll be able to manage questions about the failings !!! -
The Road Back to Success -June 2022
spirit of norm smith replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting to read on AFL website that we are 16th for pressure factor in 2022. It seems about right. We do often look to be waiting for the opposition to make an error and turnover. We “lay off” the player and play a zone. Sure it works if the opposition have skill errors and don’t hit the target. But if the run and do hit the target , then they have players free. Seemed to explain how and why Freo and Collingwood ran so freely and overwhelmed us. -
Ummmm. “We will drop games and if won’t be a bad thing”. I’m afraid that after 3 straight losses, it is a bad thing.
-
AFL integrity investigation immediately to be ordered. Watch all the usual dirty trash journos salivate over this.
-
Yes Gawn is a huge gap as we know. He’s a superstar. Love the last 60 seconds on the master blasters. Trac and Clarry are accountable for poor delivery and not kicking to a target or to advantage or indeed giving it off to others inside 50 and running!!
-
looking forward to some headlines next week “Time for some Majak” “Dees turn to Majak” “Dees open the Daw” Surely he comes in. Offers more than Weideman imv

The Road Back to Success -June 2022

Be patient. JVR is one who will be a player. -
At my local footy club Tooronga Malvern in the early 2000s, there was a few scraps between players off the field including I remember one full on in an Albury hotel car park. Guess what, blokes don’t always agree on some things and some don’t know when to shut up (or don’t have others willing to tell them to shut up). Unfortunately the amber liquid is always a common accomplice to all such events.
-
Dees out - Gawn Tmcd - of best 22 / premiership team Lions - full list to chose from. I still reckon we can beat them anywhere anytime.
-
Clearly it’s time for some “Majak” He was in good form at Casey and I think was brought in for this situation as ruck cover. Why not give him the chance? Perhaps he’ll surprise a few and be a great story.

2022 The Run Home - Predictions
spirit of norm smith replied to Vipercrunch's topic in Melbourne Demons
Predictions and prognostications in AFL footy. A very very hard task. I can only see us winning 5 out of the remaining 9 games and that’s being optimistic or even a little mistioptic. 15-7. Hmmm 4th??!?! Ouch. Freo and Brisbane pose real threats as interstate teams if they finish 1-2. We need top 2.
