Farewell Luke Jackson
Originally it was 2x first rounders. But heās value has dropped and heās lost all sense and smarts in his game. āCaptain fumblesā. In the air and on the ground. So much potential. So very very disappointing. Iāll feeling Iāll. Iāll take whatever we can get. Freo 1st round 2022 and Freo future 2nd round 2023 for Jackson.

VOTES: SF vs Brisbane
So sad and farewell 2022 6-Trac āļø- battled through pain. Clearly our best. On one leg and heās still a star. 5-Clarry āļø- scragged and gouged all night. Battled and tackled (12 tackles) and showed heās a warrior 4-Petty āļø- battled all night and saved 3 certain goals. Great effort. Great year. 3-Harmes šš»- better. Clean disposal. One grab footy. 2-Langdon šš»- ran and ran and ran and kicked and was again in the best 1- ANB. Ok. Just gets a vote due to his 1st half. But generally disappeared after 1/2 time. Runs into trouble. At least got two good goals. Kozzzy ok - good 1st half but his miss in the 4th (in the goalsquare⦠No lions ) was unforgivable Hibbo Ok - battled and generally beat Cameron May - ok. Beaten but battling on. Hipwood showed his athletic ability and perhaps batter without competing with Daniher. Brayshaw ok - tagged Neale(why?) but generally looked tired. Good goal in 4th. Hunt - ok. Nothing terrible but nothing enlightening. Did his job. Fritsch - ok had a great year but had two costly turnovers. Two goals but was a little off tonight. š©Salem -just looked slow. Was he even fit. Disposal not sharp at all. Kicks to the clouds not direct. Disappointed. š¤ÆViney - ouch - had to say, heart of a lion and tackles all night but too often took wrong decision. Missed goal chance in 3rd quarter was costly. š¤ÆGawn - start of ā22, mentioned at best in the comp. But he looked tired. Hitouts to no one. Better with a big punch. Tapped it mostly to Neale and Zorko in 2nd half. š¤ÆLever - good discipline in defence so then why???? A goal down and gives up an obvious 50. Why?? Arrogance ?? The spuds -1š„¶Melksham- one good play then disappears. Wtf. Very disappointing. -2š„Ben Brown - unable to mark and lead. Is he fit or strong enough. Dropped countless marks. -3š„Jackson - omg. Fumbles all the time. So many dropped marks. Handballing to other players under pressure. Shines in 2-3 passages then nothing. Ummm. So disappointing. -4š„Spargo - smart but essentially physically too weak. Tackled too easily. -5š„Rivers - ran into trouble and panicked and fumbled. Costly mistakes. -6š„ Sparrow - terrible all night. Missed goals. Missed opportunities. Cost us. Dumb tackles. Career worst game by far.

Melksham and Neal-Bullen stay in. Theyād better perform tonight. Last week, they were simply horrid. Silver lining is surely they couldnāt play any worse !!

TEAMS: SF vs Brisbane
No change. ANB owes Goody big time. Weeks of fumbles and turnovers again tolerated. He must simply have a āblinderā to repay the coachās faith in him. I guess itās either Duck or no dinner this week for Goody. No change and we win. Heās a genius !! No change and we loss. He simply tolerated lack of performance too many times. Letās unleash hell !!

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Josh Schache is the type of player that clubs look to grab on the cheap and then try to extract all his talent. As a former high draft pick, itās tantalizing that you can see him fulfill his potentialā¦and somehow put his mind to hard work and mental toughness. Iām not against the idea of recruiting him for say a future 4th round pick. Unfortunately for the Dees, Schache would be like adding another Weideman. Huge potential and might deliver but you might also just live in a constant state of frustration waiting for it to happen.

Hayden Young
At the end of 2019, I was very keen on MFC drafting Hayden Young due to his elite delivery and he is able to perfectly play the modern quarterback type role. Heās also a good mark and decision maker. But happy that we got LJ and also Kozzy. Thd excitement of JTs face was priceless alone. Their mateship alongside Riv and excitement has brought us a lot and the premiership that we waited so long for. Good luck to Young and I think Freo have a definite 200+ game player in him.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Yes agree itās not Lobb for LJ ⦠heās as steak knives with 1st round draft pick. But Lobb does have the ability to kick goals and relieve ruck which is what we would need to aim to get to replace LJ if he goes.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Yes on reading they have quite good views and analysis. Thanks for the post WJ

Farewell Luke Jackson
I agree. Lobb would be a suitable trade and give us what we need. But I heard he wants to go to the Dogs. Surely we are a better match if LJ goes.

Note to MFC Coaches & Players... Kicking to the Pocket or Bombing = Losing Strategy
Yes itās a question asked every week Why do we consistently have a high count of inside 50 and a very low conversion rate (ie as Goody says āwe need to improve our connection going into forward 50ā) Reason 1. Kicking into forward 50 is often a ābombā , up and under high kick. It gives the defenders time to set and often itās a heavily congested marking contest. I canāt think of any player who drills with bullet like accuracy or elite skill into 50 or thinks of āspaceā. Not our superstars Trac nor Clarry, not Viney not Harmesy not Brayshaw not even Salem. We saw a snapshot of an effective lower skilled pass when Langdon kicked to Fritsch in the first qtr v Swans for our first goal. It gave the forward to run and ability to mark in front. Thatās the template. Reason 2. As we have debated all year, why do we predominantly kick to the forward pockets instead of the hot-spot. Reason offerred by others is because it means we can lock in the footy and it is proven to reduce other teams scoring on a rebound. Ffs. I get itās statistically better for defence. But if you kick into forward50, itās with strong intent to score not to defend. Kicking to the pocket allows the defence to get the ball across the boundary line and reset. Or if you win it, itās a tougher shot at goal. MFC even had 5 out of bounds on the full from kicks into the forward50 with deep unpressurized entries. (And by the way, our kicking into forward pockets is getting so fu@$($&n predictable).

Farewell Luke Jackson
Not sure which way LJ will decide. But having a look through the Dockers list to see if any add-on players could be in a Jackson deal. Sure we could ask for Haydn Young or Andy Brayshaw but we need to be realistic. We could ask for Freo 1st round pick for 2022 & 2023 & a player. Ruckman Lloyd Meek could be a good backup for Max Gawn. Meek is a huge 203 cms 105 kgs. Behind Darcy as the key ruckman. Another is youngster Josh Treacy could be one to consider. Heās a solid tough young key forward from country Victoria. Still developing and just turned 20yo. If we think that Tmcd is close to the end, BBB has probably only 2023 left given his knee issues and the Weid is not the answer, then we need another young key forward to be alongside JVR in years to come. Might be worth checking in on Treacyās availability as a handy set of āadded steak knivesā in a deal.

Harmes Escapes with a Fine
Yes it was stupid. Deserved the 50 penalty. But yes common sense prevails and only a fine.

Christian Petracca hairline fracture.
Thanks ET. I had mentioned this earlier. It sounds odd to play with a ābroken legā but itās the magnitude and location of the fracture. I think itās a huge risk. Huge. One week possibly. But potentially for 3 matches is unbelievable. Itās the doctor and the clubs call.
