  1. I am still split on frawley's game, he did some ok things but there where at least 3 notable brain fades that resulted in goals, twice he tried to play on around his man and got caught or handpassed to someone who got caught, and once he followed his man down to the wing his player dished the ball off and ran around the boundary to get the handball back while Chip stood there, but the time he realised his player had the ball again he was 30 meters away and accelerating. not a lot of positives out of this game, even those that did well really were not outstanding in anyway, probably a dozen Essendon players all better.
  2. What I find the most frustrating is that EVERYONE can see our ZONING does not work. It is killing us, we are getting slaughtered in the overlap while our players are protecting patches of grass. Opposition players are falling over from cramp from getting uncontested possessions. How the hell can we be the hardest team to play against when we are not even within 5 meters of our opposition player. More importantly why cann't our coaching team see this. Is it a matter of I have my game plan and I'm going to play it hell or high water. We were down 100 points from this game plan, but the players were still out there trying to man up to patches of grass instead of opposition players AS DIRECTED. How do you think the players feel playing a game plan they will no longer have any faith in.
  3. I disagree this is a draft issue, we put 22 players out there who are supposed to be AFL standard, some may not be. But it does not matter what 22 players we seem to put out there, there is no spirit, aggression, passion, skill or determination from most of the players. We could draft buddy franklin and to find he would die of cold waiting for the ball to go down there. Mitch Clark went into the centre as a midfielder and got 2 of our very few clearances, what is wrong with the players we had there, how the hell did heppel run around all night with noone on him. Poor coaching, disgraceful effort, something needs to change, hopefully our side and our game plan. Given the level of frustration, if someone is going to start a thread for whos in next game, they should actually start with who do we keep from this side as its probably a shorter list.
  4. I have been a supporter of Neeld but tonights game was the same failed plan replayed, he cannot persist with this stupid Zoning, our players just cannot play it. We get cut to ribbons with some many opposition players running around loose. If he cannot change his game plan then he has to go. No point putting it off to the end of the year, the only good that can come out of continuing to pigheadedly play a bad game plan is we get a better draft pick for picking up the wooden spoon and lots more severe beatings. In fact the AFL may need to introduce a mercy clause into the playing conditions, like they have in baseball and other games when sides get slaughtered
  5. We have had more taps than Essendon, but I can only recall one going directly to a melbourne player and that was when jones gathered a ryder tap. Jamar needs to fire up and punch the ball not tap it down at this feet to essendon players,
  6. I thought they said clark is off, and garland is down in the rooms getting treatment. What a debacle. Essendon is running around the melbourne players like they are witches hats, disgusting the number of open and free players, while our players stand around like teapots. What an absolute disgrace.
  7. How the hell can they get it out of the centre so damn often, what are our guys doing?
  8. I am not a big fan for full forwards running 100 meters after they kick a goal so they can sit down for 3 minutes, before running back another 100 meters to position. I would rather mitch stand in the goal square and get his breath, that approach never hurt peter hudson, or tony lockett.
  9. Melbourne play unaccountable football, zone defense spare man in the backline all that sort of thing. Watts has to learn how to get kicks when he is being manned up, no point just picking up lots of kicks when you are the spare man in defense. He needs to put his body into the contest. Just wondering does anyone know how many ex-players are turning up around the ground and providing mentoring, feedback, coaching, etc to our younger brigade?
  10. we all missed his chasing, maybe he will do some this week. Given Garland was our goal kicking hero last year, why not consider him forward instead of Sellers. maybe move Mitch to CHF and Garland to FF.
  11. Trenners will in time get better the question is can we afford to take someone who is not fit, not in good form after our debacle last week. Is his leadership quality so much make up for the fact that he is probably going to have fewer touches than someone fitter. I would love to see him go out and have a big game, but chances are not good of that happening.
  12. When you look at our win lose ratio for the first rounds, how the hell could the port demolition be such a surprise to everyone. with that record, winning should have been the surprise.
  13. Trengrove did not do overly well in the VFL practice game on the weekend, so why bring him in, an act of desperation perhaps? Would rather see Rodan in than an unfit Trengrove. Nicholson, is very lucky to still be there, would have thought Jetta should have pushed him out. Gillies again lucky, probably no backup tall to tackle Essendon's tall forwards. Will be interesting to see how Neeld's strategy goes this week.
  14. The dogs and port have put up sides with players who want to play and they did ok. We need to do the same, get rid of those who dont want to try, send them back to Casey to try to get a game. Silvia and Frawley could see their value plummet quite badly if they cannot even get a game with melbourne.
  15. We have a team that has been fooled into a false sense of security, fitter than ever, training better, better plan, while we lost to port in the NAB cup the excuse was probably it was their turf,we didnt have a full side, etc.... Game day we came out expecting it to happen and it didnt. The sad thing is the team and coach included did nothing that I could see to try to turn that around. The didnt see it coming because they were in dream land thinking we were so much better than Port, GC, GWS and Doggies. If we continue to play like we did on Sunday then we will go through the season winless. By the way anyone know what happens with match payments to senior players if they dont play senior football but play for Casey, do they still get the same $$'s or loose some match payment $$'s
  16. Iam sure Frawleys efforts will be scrutinized as will everyone elses. i would like to see Garland play up forward he has done some decent things there in the past and would provide a bit of support for clark and co... Frawley I think needs to play in the 2's for a game or two until he can learn to lift his intensity. He seems to think he can waltz around the field instead of running, shows poor judgement and poor disposal at times.
  17. I think everyone would have loved to take Wines, but were very happy to have gained Toumpas. Having seen Wines, i can see he is pretty talented, but then he was playing in a much better side than jimmy or Jack was. I still see Jimmy is going to be a class player, we just need to let him get settled a bit more and get the ball to him in reasonable fashion his class and skill will show out in the end.
  18. Senior players are allowed to put in mediocre performances because they know they will still get picked, Frawleys example was only one of several type episodes where he really did not look interested, or his man was miles away from him taking marks and kicking goals. Senior players must be held accountable for their actions.
  19. When the whole team apart from Jack and a couple of others stink its a bit hard to get a true estimate of people value especially Pederson and other first gamers for us. Jamar got the taps but if it goes to the opposition then it is a meaningless stat. Our guys were in the square why did not they get it... was it not hit to them, was it taken off them. what was the problem. From looking at the stat sheets 2 Port players were responsible for most of the damange, what sort of pressure did our mids put on them to stop them.
  20. I would love to see some proper stats not just hand passes, kicks, hit outs, but effective kicks, hit outs, etc, and ineffective as some players may look to have reasonable stats until you see their efficiency or clangers resulting in goals kill us. Jamar did hit it down but invariably to the opposition, which means he either cannot control it or our guys are just not in the right spot. Given our poor mid field may Jamar should try punching the ball Forward, it cannot be worse than loosing it all the time at center square ball-ups.
  21. The thing I find most frustrating with Watts on Sunday is that he was doing no good in the backline, why persist with him them change it up, move him on the ball, move him forward, sit him on the bench. He is one of our prime movers why leave him there doing nothing... mades no sense.....
  22. Re the Mark of the year, if you look at the video, see port game review at http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/paul-roos-declares-something-is-seriously-wrong-with-melbourne-after-disastrous-start-to-the-season/story-e6frf3e3-1226610632733#.UVoxbTeMw1d it looks like a Melbourne Players hand is under the ball before Schulz marks it behind the line, this should have been a point.
  23. While I am not 100% happy with Neeld it was the 22 players on the field that didnt chase, didnt compete, didnt man up.. they need to be held accountable first.
  24. Caption should read - do you think anyone suspects we are tanking
  25. Much as some may like it they cannot replay Sundays game 24 hours a day, but I am pretty sure they are reliving it 24 hours a day. While they exercise, relax, eat and sleep and try to live normal lives as best they can. while we are hurting you can bet these guys are getting it from family friends, TV, newspapers, facebook, twitter, in the street, or in the surf. I doubt there are too many things they would be doing that would take their mind of it entirely, it would keep coming back to haunt them, knowing that they will read about in the newspapers and TV all week, go over it again at training, SAM and the footy show tearing strips off them Thursday and eventually running out again on the weekend against an even better side, who will undoubtedly remind them they are a bunch of [censored] to rile. Players have got to remember social media comments are forever and will go places and be taken out of context, so really need a bit of training in making sure they dont say something stupid that could come back and haunt them.
