  1. We should make it known that whoever is interested in picks 2 or 3 needs to provide us with a really good deal by Wed or else we will use 2 and 3 for the best two players we can get, i.e. two top mids, or a top mid and a gun forward. That should worry GWS and St Kilda as one of these will likely miss out unless they deal with us in a positive way.
  2. I wish sam all the best in getting a new club, While I agree Sam often had little or poor delivery to him in the forward line, he did not seem to battle through that to get the ball. i always was concerned about his lack of defensive pressure, not sure of his stats but he was really very low on the tackle count you would expect someone with a bit of pace to be able to catch a few of the opposition players.
  3. most clubs are paying overs for good or great players, including melbourne, how much is frawley being offered, if you are a wanted player by multiple clubs then you pay overs.
  4. agreed we should take brayshaw as soon as we can, missing him would be a real [censored]. trading our 3rd pick to doggies or GC with a promise to take Brayshaw at 2 would mean no real loose in their pick for a tall.
  5. well he will certainly be remembered by melbourne supporters as a melbourne player.
  6. what a fantastic player, more bounces in that 3 minutes than the whole of the melbourne team for the last 2 years. was a true inspiration and champion. sadly missed.
  7. offer them Blease for him, after all they did take Gysbert who knows they may fall for the same trick again.
  8. i expect little and the old board will be overthrown for failing the club, new board will sack Hird and will give the gig to bomber thompson.
  9. Dunn is a little disgruntled, disgruntled, please is that the best he can do, we are a basket case of a club crying out for players like mc and then he wants to up and go and dunn is a little disgruntled. Dunn Is standing up for MC showing he is a good friend, after all they have known each other how long and played together how often, so while Dunn supports his friend, MC leaves all of his new demon friends and supporters. sorry I have lost all faith in MC as a player and disappointed with what I believe is a lack of personal integrity. Collingwood and Geelong have done their due diligence on his fitness and mental health and both still want him, which indicates that he is in pretty good shape, yet they will try to buy him as damaged goods and we will take whatever compensation we can get.
  10. i thought i read somewhere that the AFL had raised the compensation issue with some of the other clubs and that they were comfortable with melbourne getting pick 3 for frawley.
  11. Clark should be well and truly over his foot injury, he has had extra time to recover so that part of him should be good for awhile at least, proper training and management should see his hammies and other soft tissue injuries reduced or managed. His skill and desire to win the ball will still be a major asset to where ever he goes, unfortunately we will not get anywhere near his value should his return be successful. While there is the theory that we are lucky to get anything for him it has to be remembered that if he had been more honest with us we would not have written him off 8 months ago.
  12. i like to look of frost i think he will be a great addition to our backline if we land him.
  13. i suspect that danger or his manager is listening to offers which they will then take back to Adelaide who would obviously be trying to offer him a long contract extension now to lock him in so that he does not walk next year, this will come down to $$ how close will adelaide go to what Melbourne and other are prepared to put on the table. If we loose then Adelaide will have been forced to at least use a lot more of their salary cap on Danger, which will restrict their ability to spend in other areas.
  14. As if adelaide would tell a player manager anything about what deals they were considering until they have to, after all its not as if player managers keep clubs informed on who they are talking to.
  15. That so called toxic environment that Mitch needs to escape from includes the full support of the full melbourne playing list, coaches, support staff and 30+ thousand supporters. Which he is swapping to go to a new club where he has few if any existing relationships with anyone, is now under far more scrutiny than he was under at Melbourne, but is probably comforted by the extra $$'s he is being paid. Friends stick by friends, the club stuck by mitch, but mitch does not appear to be sticking by the club. Any ability to get compensation for the club is based on what the opposition club will give, i doubt mitch's decision will be decided on what compensation each club may give to melbourne but rather on what mitch gets.
  16. a deal still has to be done with a belligerent club known for over valuing everything that was theirs while suggesting everything they want is of a lessor quality so should be compensated for the difference. I wonder if this deal will actually get done.
  17. Frawley has done his time at melbourne, we have not delivered the success he like all footballers crave and we are not prepared to pay him what others are prepared to pay him. So good on him for leaving in a time that will at least see us compensated. in another year or two there may not be compensation for players leaving. I think frawley has played reasonably well in the forward line, but i also think he has not extended or pushed himself, though i think that can be said about quite a few of our players. I hope it goes well for him, he has looked reasonably good in a dysfunctional team though often has turned the ball over with lazy passes or getting caught holding the ball. He will feel a very different pressure at which ever club he goes into as he will be one of the top money earners and their members will be looking to get their moneys worth or they will let him know if he does not deliver.
  18. As I have said on the trading thread I am not so sure we should go after the big star recruit, i still remember previous stars we have wooed, i.e. Diamond Jim Tillbrook, Kelvin Templeton, Peter Moore, MC all who failed to live up to the hype. I would rather we get a couple of good players instead and save our $$'s for those of our players that perform and hopefully for a time when stars want to come to melbourne because of our culture and future not because we offer sh!tloads more $$'s than anyone else.
  19. I think we should forget Dangerfield he would be a massive gain but we would need to pay massive overs to get him to come to our club I believe we could probably do a lot better just trading with GWS and get the best deal with can for 3 or 4 of their young players who want to return/leave, i would be looking to swap 2 and 3 and a possibly a late pick for Cameron, Frost, Shiel and Treloar,
  20. Roos is trying to find player upgrades that we can afford and get and those that will play the role he wants, how many would have criticized his drafting of NQR players at Sydney. We are not going to move up just on the drafting of a couple of gun players we need to improve all over the ground and upgrade to better players as best we can. Some will be short term that will need to be replaced in a couple of years but they help move us forward next year.
  21. I doubt roos has the level of sentimentality about father son picks to be forced to use a pick before the value of the player, as he said all players are on the table, so i doubt we would be paying overs for Stretch, we will either get him for something we think fair or we will pass on him and take another that Roos and co rate higher.
  22. hmm doubt the bombers will let him walk far before an injunction hits him, obviously to protect him from physically or mentally endangering himself playing football for us.
  23. question is whether st kilda is going to take the type of player they believe they need, or just take the best player and hope that compensates for taking a lesser player later in the draft to cover that need.
  24. And why would the saints want to nominate pick 1 for billy to get us to waste our 1st pick on him, while collingwood gets Moore? not sure what other father sons are in the draft, sorry does not compute.
  25. Roos is looking to get value for swaps, i.e. two pretty good players instead of the one really good player, we are not really to spend all our credits on one or two stars when there just is not the support for them, and while there is no support for them we are unlikely to attract any, well any other than Clarke.
