I have it on good authority wise that David Teague has changed his mind about the Blues job and will be joining us as a development coach.
-
I've heard a whisper that Goodwin favors Max Gawn so we better trade him to get some value.

really like Caldwell. would happily do 11, 13 and Caldwell for 3 even Bobby Hill looks a good player.

What should our midfield set-up be next season?
Ted Lasso replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
My issue with Viney is he actually upsets the midfield set up quite a bit, some mids make the guys around them better, Viney has the opposite effect. he attacks the ball hard but other than that and a burst of speed doesn't offer much. at least up forward he could chase and tackle and pressure. our midfield mix looks so much better when it's Brayshaw, Oliver and Harmes, and Petracca rotating through. -

I'd go with assuming a few trades and stuff Neville Jetta Steven May Jake Lever Michael Hibberd Sam Frost Christian Salem Ed Langdon Clayton oliver Issac Smith Jake Melksham Tom McDonald James Harmes Bailey Fritsch Sam Weideman Jack Viney Max Gawn Christian Petracca Angus Brayshaw Nathan Jones, Lachie Ash, Karl Amon, Aaron Vandenberg -
He's actually got a great record as an assistant coach and is incredibly highly rated which is why the moment he had more offers than he knew what to do with. some people just aren't meant to be senior coaches, but we're extremely lucky to have someone with his football brain and experience at the club, and i have more confidence knowing he's there.

Nope. if we tried it he'd be lining up for another team. he was never staying there.

I can't believe we're seriously arguing Jake Levers quality as a player. he was one of the best intercept defenders in his first two years, something not many players do, he's got all the attributes to be a future AFL captain and a champion of the club and he's coming off a serious injury. He and Steven May with a full pre season are going to play some great footy next year an make a lot of doubters eat their words in my opinion. FWIW i think he played well in the 2017 grand final and was one of the few players from the crows who could hold his head high, a very good effort considering the crows were treating him like rubbish and he was heading tot he exit.

One of the big concerns i have is now on field i feel like with no Lewis, Vince and Jones likely to spend time at casey this year, we've given ourselves a void of onfield leadership.

Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
Ted Lasso replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
This, combined with us staring down the barrel of a fairly significant financial loss this year, as well as the high likelyhood of staff member turn over as a result of the review. I suspect we'll be asking for funding to help keep the facility plan in motion, as well as exemption from any financial penalty for breaching the soft cap on staff if we turn over a good number of them. -
There was talk his old man might be in line for the CEO position at the dockers which is why people i think thought Gus might head over that way. though it now sounds like he will be taking up a position at NORF as the CEO there so i don't think the temptation to go to Perth would be huge.

No, i think we would get band 3 compensation, he'd be offered minimum 3 years on probably 600k because they need to fill their cap, he's captain of the club and our ladder position. we'd probably argue for band 2 and get pushed back to 3 which would be the pick immediately after our second rounder.
-
Anyone else think there would be a temptation to nudge Nathan Jones out the door and up to the Suns? we'd likely get pick 21 as compensation and he's likely got one year of average football left in him, he's been a champion of the club but part of me feels this is the type of decision a really good club would take the emotion out of.

Damien Barrett's scathing assessment of the MFC
Ted Lasso replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I suspect what we are asking for is support to pay out and make changes in the football department based on what the review shows. i think this would include Simon Goodwin incase we don't move up next year and a change needs to be made -
to explain what i heard was the Suns want more than just the Blues first pick, and he was the steak knives they had asked for.
-
I think Brayshaws form did start to trend upwards in the last 3-4 games with more centre bounce time. it's pretty clear that is his best position.
-
Thoughts on Zac Fisher? i think he's got a lot of the attributes we're looking for. i've heard the Blues are potentially open to including him in trade packages to land jack Martin. i wonder if we could get involved in that and get him to the club.
-
Kerr from the blues officially delisted, this is someone i would consider as a delisted free agent or a rookie, he's big and strong, has a good set of hands and has a real presence around the ground. considering he'd come for nothing i think we could do a lot worse than roll the dice on this kid for a year or 2
-
GCS entire argument to get pick 2 is so they can draft Anderson at 2 and help to retain both as they're good friends, they're not trading pick 2. I still think Ben King is gettable. but he'd likely cost us pick 3 which personally i'd be willing to pay. i'd say he's better than anyone in the draft pool besides the top 2.
-
I suspect Bell may try and settle the Langdon deal early and work hard on getting maximum value for Hill. i think the Saints might get screwed there. pick 20 for Langdon seems a win win for both clubs
-
It's interesting because if it's a question of who we'd take pick 3 vs two other picks i think we'd take Lachie Ash early because he fits exactly what we need. but he may well be there anyway if we downgraded to pick 7ish and then we'd get another pick to go with it.

My personal opinion was that Rockliff was the worst captain in the AFL and when he moved to Port that mantle was handed to TEX. you just have to look at the way he handled the Lever situation to see he's a very immature leader. likes throwing his weight around but doesn't know when or how to do it, and that filters into his game
-
I wonder what would be needed trade wise to get him?
-
No, because they're just that, rumours
-
I'd be backing in Weid and McDonald. and hoping for better kicks inside 50 and better forward craft. the realistic outside key forward that i would be chasing is Ben King who i think genuinely wants to come back to vic but the Suns probably won't let him go. but if they said they'd trade him for pick 3 i'd do that for sure.
