We all have to accept where we are coming from and where we are, it's going to take time and we won't rise overnight, there will be more pain we have a core good enough to build a strong side around and plenty of talent, we are improving our fitness and just starting to see some signs of culture coming in with Caseys strong performance, and players having to dominate games to earn a call up where as they may have previously been gifted games the last place you ever see the results is on the field, so it's as simple as ignoring the negative people around bagging our club constantly, accept we are a working progress and for god sake enjoy what positives we are getting, Max gawn has been fantastic, Luke tapscott looks a totally different player, michael evans, dean terlich, matt jones, nathan jones and jack grimes wearing their hearts on their sleeve every game. you add hogan to that, viney and toumpas get a few games under their belt, trengove gets a full pre season in and has a breakout year and things will turn.
-
abit more fitness from Toumpas and he should be dominating VFL games, 26 touches against Port Melbourne is not a bad effort at all
-
Potential club president candidates?

Max Gawn for president?- 23 replies

Maybe fitz too?
-
How many goals did dawes finish with?
-
Thanks so much for the score updates, really appreciate it, how's dawes and fitz and toumpas looking at the moment?
-
Rests jake carlisle and then cameron kicks 4 before half time, it's hilarious Only bad part is scully is playing well.
-
His pace is an asset but unless he is full fitness there is really no use trying to play him through the middle like they did against the Lions, stick him in the forward pocket, he's sure to cause some headaches
-
Mid coach would have to be brett Kirk, cameron ling or simon black, culture changers. We have plenty of kids, so i'd be dangling our top pick, which should be top 3 to see what sort of mid clubs would be willing to offer, I'd back watts, he is still young and far more talented than anything we will get in return ( unless we get an offer we can't refuse) No more pickups like Pederson, rodan and gillies for gods sake, dawes was fine but the others have if anything set our side back
-
Agree with most of this, but Jack Trengove deserves a full pre season and to be injury free before we judge him, his defensive efforts are good, he has only played 64 games so i'm sure he will be that A grade mid you're hoping for, but he like everyone else deserves time

Just 22 max gawns
-
Lose by 120 points and Neeld says, yeah but we were good for the first 10 minutes. Sorry buddy, this is an elite sports industry and you aren't getting results.
-
I agree that there is enough to build a top 8 list around, but one thing Neeld is right about is this will take time, there are no quick fixes to the hole we are in, However Port are a good example of how quick the wheel turns, you throw a couple of quality mids in and some of our big name players show some faith and re sign and we will be a different team, the biggest positive is how many players on our list who are starting to really show something, Howe would be an All Australian in a good team now, just doesn't get the ball down there enough, evans, kent, tapscott, terlich, M jones, Gawndogga, and others all look good, it seems that our development issues are fading abit, and bloke are having to earn a game! how good is that!
-
Just got to hold on to the blokes like James Frawley, Possibly another couple of good draft picks coming at the end of the year, free agency and all that we will have a chance to set up our midfield for the future
-
22 max gawns and we are set!
-
Reckon the blues might laugh at us if we offered that mate :/ Maybe Mitch Robinson would be a more realistic target in a trade for watts depending on if other clubs think he has lost interest in us, or if he is just lazy and soft I personally hope we don't trade him, i think he has the potential to be a much better player than anything the other teams are going to offer us for him.
-
Unfortunately that might well be the case, making it vital that we get good quality mids through free agency. if we were to trade watts i would want a pretty decent deal or i'd be inclined to keep him on.
-
And it's not all that bad on paper, just shocking development, injuries and other setbacks, a combination of bad luck and horrible managing of players.
-
What clubs would be likely to be interested in watts? and what players might they offer? I agree Davey and Sylvia would be good icing on the cake at a top side, Davey has had a good career at the dees but deserves some finals action, Sylvia it's a shame he hasn't shown us more of his best but same as davey i can understand his decision but i hold hope we can keep him now he is starting to get somewhere
-
This would be a good game to watch! probably better quality than some of the AFL games this year.
-
Mark Neeld to quote in the post match presser that he thought a 75 point loss to carlton was a positive haha But seriously 4 quarters of 100% effort from the players and a respectable scoreline and i'll be pretty happy kinda sad that we have to accept the effort that should be there anyway as a positive.. Go Dees!
-
Just for gods sake re sign James Frawley before we end up with 17 clubs door knocking
-
Might take him 6 months to wrap his head around how a club gets into this position
-
If spencer comes in and plays well Jamar could be up against it to get back
