Peter Jackson - On The Couch Monday 29th July, 2013
Ted Lasso replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
The biggest thing i noticed during the interview is that PJ doesn't really stop talking, it seems like he wanted to say all of those things without giving others a chance to change the subject, so a pitch to Roos is possible, or a swipe at Healy, i'm not sure what the reason behind it was but it certainly seemed to me he had a message he wanted to get across to someone. -
I have heard similar sorts of rumours, would be a great get through the pre season draft if we could swing that and hold onto our currency, not sure what we have the Richmond would want for him besides high picks, he's not a free agent yet is he?
-
if we win three more games and finish on five wins and jump ahead of Stkilda and the Bulldogs it would imo put some doubts in the minds of the people making the decision, yes odds are it's already been made regardless of what we do on field, but surely the details of that pick could change, even 2 and 3 wouldn't be worth half of what 1 is this year. but we can't look at it like that is what i am saying, we have to win at all costs, establish the right culture and stop mucking around looking for the next big thing out of the draft.

Thoughts on possible coaching succession plan
Ted Lasso replied to S.R.J's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not big on the idea, but that's just my personal opinion, I think sometimes it can work, it's clearly worked really well up in Sydney, but i think Collingwood has gone miles backwards from the team that played in two grand finals under mick Malthouse. It's as much of a gamble as appointing any untried coach so for mine my preference would just be to lock up the best coach going around for 4-5 years and by the time that term is up we SHOULD be looking at being a serious team in the finals. -
As i am a huge fan of Charlie Sheen's work i can't find myself agreeing to him being President, his actions would make sense and sensibility is hardly the imagine of a modern political icon.

Port v GWS round 19 2012 and the Port rebuild
Ted Lasso replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
from memory scully was a certain pick one and trengove was the second coming of nathan buckley, not sure we surprised anyone picking those two. -
With all the talk recently of potentially getting a priority pick i have been thinking quite a bit about how much more valuable it would be for us to win 2-3 more games this year, if we beat GWS, Gold Coast and the Bulldogs which i think is realistic, then we go into pre season with some confidence and momentum, the boys get to taste a few wins and it might just be the boost we need to hang on to a few of the out of contract boys. if we're going to go through with a total club rebuild and reculture we need to set the correct mind set right now and make sure we carry that from here on out, Win at all costs. there is no reason that we can't see a Port Adelaide like revival next season, we recruit a couple of free agents, more talent from the draft and the natural improvement that our young list would gain from another pre season under a new experienced coach with a focus on player development. I would happily trade pick 1 for 3 wins before the end of the year.

Are you serious? the kids played 10 games, on average it takes about three years so that's 66 games before a player really feels comfortable at AFL level, and he is playing in a team that is struggling big time, the idea that anyone can make an accurate judgement of any of our young players is abit silly. Watch the replay of the game against Geelong like i just did, you will feel much better about us drafting this young man.

Surely Tom Mcdonald plays on Cameron, match up one of the emerging defenders of the comp with the forward
-
He has shown patches of absolute class, for a ten game player in such a poor midfield he is showing quite abit in his better games imo, very confident he will be a player in the future

Port v GWS round 19 2012 and the Port rebuild
Ted Lasso replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have a feeling alot of it is going to just click for us, for example if trenners found his zip he would get to more contests and he becomes a 25-30 touch a game player instead of 20, he's already our best defensive mid by a mile, Nathan Jones is our heart and soul, Viney and toumpas have shown patches but will become better with time, Matt Jones has been much better than i expected and Grimes was fantastic early in the year as a mid, add a free agent and some more draft talent and there is no reason we can't be as good as them next year imo. -
Port v GWS round 19 2012 and the Port rebuild
Ted Lasso replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
shows the power of quality people doesnt it? -
because he is a hard nosed mid with bucket loads of talent at the right age
-
if we get pick one could we trade it to gc for david swallow and a pick? he hasnt set the world on fire because of injury

Does the MFC deserve draft assistance?
Ted Lasso replied to Sydney Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
shiel and adams is probably abit more realistic than Libba, but i reckon we'd have to sweeten it before they would say yes, maybe pick 1 and jamar? they still looking for a ruckman? -
imo if james hird drove this knowing he was breaking the rules a two year ban would be soft, he is an icon of the game, a hero of all the young Essendon supporters and would have let every single one of them down. would it be fair to consider longer term bans or even potentially a lifetime ban?
-
He didn't get alot of the ball from what i watched, granted i fell asleep at half time, but i felt he has a real bit of class about him and he is quite abit quicker than i thought, how did he go in the second half? Yeah, was really impressed with Durmont, any chance he makes it to our second pick?
-
If you were a manager of a player that was trying to make his way in the AFL and establish himself as a gun player, would you recommend them to sign with MFC? the answer is imo absolutely not. Jacks position is fair enough and well within his rights, if he left i'd be upset because that would be our last two pick 1's that have done very little in terms of helping the club re-build into a powerhouse.
-
I think half of demonland would just explode and the other half would probably complain because we are so used to being angry haha

Casey and recruitment holding back player development.
Ted Lasso replied to Demonsterative's topic in Melbourne Demons
Might be a good question for some of the older boys, i am abit younger and haven't been around the club as long but, how would you even begin to go about establishing a winning culture in a club like ours, the only real taste of winning we get is at casey and we obviously can't have all of our team playing there, our senior players have been losing for so long it's probably almost to be expected. -
Players enjoying playing for the MFC, playing with passion and enthusiasm and courage and leading us out of the worst position the club has ever being in, might only be baby steps but some obvious steps in the right direction! Jack trengove with his zip back would also be nice. Coach: Paul Roos
-
He is almost symbolic of how our rebuild's under Bailey and Neeld went, a whole lot of talk and promise but not alot of the old fashioned hard stuff that wins you tough games against the best opposition, not saying it's impossible for him to be a superstar, infact i think wattsy will be a class player for whoever he plays for next year, but i'm not sure he has the guts of a Brendan goddard which is what we need at this point, inspirational leaders like Nathan Jones leading the way and re-igniting the passion for the Mfc.
-
Just watched the replay of the game between norwood and west adelaide and Aish looks really impressive, runs to the right spots, seems to make something happen if the ball gets anywhere near him, maybe a little bit slight but nothing that can't be fixed up! really hope that PP or not we get this guy to MFC he and Toumpas having such elite skills would create a nightmare for opposition teams kicking in to clark dawes and hogan!
-
if the whole list gets bans would zaharakis become a free agent in theory or get the option of walking?
-
pick 21 and watts for yarren and robinson?
