Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
They aren't top 10 picks, Pick 10 will be pushed back well into the teens post the academy and compensation changes, and it's an especially thin draft anyway. And if their aim is to play finals next years won't either. if you were talking about 2 legitimate top 10 picks, you might have a point, but that's definitely what we'd be asking for regardless.

Pick 10, plus their 2026 first, plus they take his entire contract on is the basis to begin negotiations. But if Trac wants a flag he'd be better off staying at Melbourne than going to Carlton

AFL Emotional Baggage Index
Haven't met many smart enough or with the level of self awareness required to describe their emotional experience my theory unfortunately remains that, a theory

AFL Emotional Baggage Index
This will sound strange but i reckon the Cats. every year they give legitimate hope they can win it all and like 9/10 of those they fall short by a kick in a prelim. I think in some ways being garbage and finishing last is mcuh easier emotionally than thinking you're the team to beat and losing

Apparently Tracs extensive experience with straight sets finals exits is especially appealing to the Crows.

Rumours
I have very few worries about Kolt as a prospect, i think there are similarities with early Petracca in his trajectory, once his training standards and fitness base catch up with what's being asked of him i think he'll become a really solid AFL player. Probably not a superstar, but i think Sam Powell Pepper could be a bit of an insight into the player i think he can eventually become.

Steven May
So if the three key backs are say Adams, Petty and Lever, does that mean Turner (who i rate as our best key back and key forward prospect) goes forward again?

The List Manager Tim Lamb
This is why i am not overlooking it. if Trac came out tomorrow and said i am pledging the rest of my career to help Melbourne win a premiership, NOONE on here would complain about him staying. The truth is essentially anyone associated in any way with the MFC would like to see a healthy happy Petracca stay at Melbourne, if that's not possible he's contracted and my minimum standards to feel okay with a trade for someone of his quality are. the club takes on his ENTIRE contract in full we receive a top 10 draft pick and a best 22 player or a second first round pick in a trade Short of this i don't see any incentive whatsoever for us to trade him, we're already paying for Gus and Goody to not be involved at our club, we don't want to keep adding to that list.

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
Hopefully a new coach like Steven King is what he needs, i think Jack Martin and Tyson Stengle are guys who've come form a long way back as well and King has worked with them so perhaps there is some wisdom he can pass on to Shane about how to just attack this because at least then he retires kinda knowing he gave it a crack

The List Manager Tim Lamb
I would be demading Flanders and pick 6 or keeping Petracca. we don't need to give away one of our best players, who is contracted for a pick 13 that'll be pushed into the 20's and a pretty good young player. that's just not how this works. same thing with the Crows, they can offer us 2 first round picks, but this years is going to be a pick around 20, and next years if they win the flag would be 18. those two picks are a fair way off the mark.

Steven May
No i agree, he's a third tall who can intercept and reads the play at an elite level, he's also a high level on field leader which is why a lot considered him a future captain. I personally think though the position we're in, if we can get a really good return for someone like Lever, or Salem, or Langdon, we should absolutely have a look at it.
-
Steven May
Correct. Personally i think Lever obviously appeals to North, if we can get Zane Duursma out of it there is a potential win-win to be had there.
-
Steven May
I can understand it. we probably want to get games into Turner, Adams, Derksen and Petty down back and May still a good player could elevate a team like the Bulldogs chasing a flag sometimes these things aren't bad, it's a win-win for all involved

Jack Henderson Re-Signs for 1 Year
I am neither here nor there on Henderson staying on, i probably think this is a direct result of Spargo leaving as to not completely wipe out our small forward depth though.

Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
I really don't understand why the Tassie team couldn't be based out of one of the existing stadiums until the new stadium can be figured out. It feels like the AFL quietly don't want the Tassie team to go ahead, but they also want the failure not to be their fault so they're making the goal posts just out of reach so that they can say, we tried.

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
All roads seem to lead to BM joining us in the red and blue next year, including the Pies seemingly expecting this outcome now. Regardless what you think of this decision from the club there is no doubt he brings experience and leadership

Farewell Judd McVee
I am getting this close to calling Judd a poo poo head. tell him to announce itttttttttttt

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
imagine Trac getting consistent 1v1s in the forward half of the ground, he could legitimately win the brownlow next year. Even Kozzie and Fritsch, if they're given the ball with better service i think we can really become quite damaging quite quickly

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
If i were Steven King, i'd want Christian Petracca in my team. He just needs to sit him down, look him in the eye and ask if he's fully prepared to commit again to the Melbourne footy club, if he's not you say "We'll do our best to find a suitable trade if someone offers us something that appeals"

2026 Player Numbers
I know i am getting in early, but i wanted to get out there early that i feel strong the number 9 that Charlie Spargo will be vacating should go to Harvey Langford.

Demons Ponder New Strategy Boss
It's a stepping stone rather than ripping the bandaid off, i am certain last touch is where we will end up, rightly or wrongly. But these are the issues a head of strategy specifically needs to deal with, what rule changes are confirmed, what's likely beyond that and making sure our game plan and list are set up with the best chance for success within that. I would hazard an educated guess that the Saints are comfortable with their huge dollar pursuit of TDK because they can see where that rule is heading and believe they'll get a huge advantage out of it

Demons Ponder New Strategy Boss
The big one for whoever we hire is what does it mean for Max Gawn if a last touch rule is implemented, this is going to significantly change his role with no more boundary throw ins!

Jy Simpkin
He’s on a shocking contract compared to his actual output as a player.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
And yet from our perspective we got the exact candidate we wanted and we are very happy. But that doesn’t get as many clicks

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
I like the idea of bringing in Michoek as sort of a playing coach to teach Van Rooyen, Petty and Jefferson and Kentfield forward craft, and maybe Melksham becomes a super sub type who comes on late in the games to give us something with his experience, but is a valuable coach on the bench for the other 3/4
